As a Catholic parent of two girl scouts, my wife is the troop leader, this relationship to planned parenthood is perplexing. I can say that our small community troop does not promote the PP ideas and values. To the contrary, they work on community and educational projects to make the girls better citizens. My oldest has earned her Silver Award and will begin working on her Gold Award soon.(Top award for GS like the Eagle Scout is top for the Boy Scouts) My youngest will begin work on her Silver Award.

What I’m getting at is that I don’t want to punish kids who are involved in good, wholesome activities because of who may be involved in support of the national organization.

In 1992, Levi Strauss Co. pulled support from the Boy Scouts because the BSA would not accept gay scout masters. I and many others did and have boycotted Levi’s since that day. (I haven’t bought or worn any Levi’s clothing since that time. Including Dockers) So if you are refusing to buy cookies or help support individual Girl Scouts, aren’t you being like Levi’s and punishing kids because of the actions of the adults?

Problem is, there comes a point where you can't keep on ignoring the national leadership. They have control of the levers of power, so to speak, and they set the agenda.

We reached that point with the Episcopal Church. For a long time, we thought we could just keep our heads down in our little local parish and ignore what the national leadership was doing.

Doesn't work. The fish rots from the head down, and by the time the nastiness got to us it was far too late to stop it.

You take a good look at the printed material that the Girl Scouts produce for the girls. My daughter is now 23, but when she was in there was a lot of pretty radical stuff in there, especially about sexuality and 'choices'. Ugh. And you might want to think twice about sending your girls away to Girl Scout camp unsupervised.

The BSA will welcome your girls age 14 and up in Venturing or Explorers. And there is no nonsense in BSA. Two deep leadership rule is strictly enforced, and no far left radical politics taught under the guise of "citizenship", either.

Investigate. Your argument is the same as many. Good sources state that all troops donate to the central GSA. If you are not sure then you best be. Your girls are working for and sending money to somewhere you don’t know. Email Johnette Bencovic.

Protecting kids from contributing to PP is not the same as punishing them. Duh!

If the girls knew where their money was going instead of pretending like all the ignorant or passive aggressive feminist mothers that the money is going to some good organization that exsited in the past but has been overrun insidiously by knowledgeable, active feminists with a cause, perhaps they would drop out themselves, that is, if they have not yet been socialized to the feminist cause, and don’t you want to know this?; and they would not call it punishment.

You could find out whether their money or any portion of it goes to PP, laundered or not, and you ought to know this. Then bring them on a tour of a PP facility and ask them to decide if they’d like to continue working for this cause. You know, obsrve an abortion, if they are assisting in its funding.

Ask PP to provide a meeting room for the girls, they are paying for it, instead of pressuring the Catholic Church, who is never ever going to knowingly contribute to abortion in any way.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

And get to a Little Flowers group.

Levi-Strauss. Bah!

Punish might be the wrong word. This church or pastor is not letting the GS assemble at their location. All I’m doing is not buying some cookies. Maybe management will change when enough social and financial pressure is put on them. You and your kids sound wonderful. God Bless.

You wouldn't be punishing the kids if you joined the boycott. The adults who are needlessly shoving the issues of sexual perversion and abortion into children's organizations for their own selfish purposes are to blame.

I'd be curious what your attitude would be if the Girl Scouts' parent organization embraced Satan Worship, Slavery, Communism, Bestiality or other such controversial subjects -- even though your own local troop did not. Would you still stay involved?

What many people do not realize is the GS has a “curriculum” that is followed. So, the reading material & program that the troops follow is set by national leadership. Recently, it was reported that a GS publication “Girltopia” featured this little diddy as a recommended book for pre-teen girls: The Gate to Women’s Country, authored by former Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood Director Sheri S. Tepper, a well-known eco-feminist and feminist science fiction writer.

Read the following overview written by Sue Brinkman & tell me if this is what you want your daughter reading:

“Tepper’s tale takes place 300 years into the future after a catastrophic war splits the U.S. into several nations with ‘Women’s Country’ being established in the Pacific northwest. The society within this country is matriarchal with all women, girl children and boys under the age of five living inside the town walls. All of the men live outside the town in ‘warrior camps.’ When the boys are five years old, they must leave Women’s Country and can only return at the age of 15 and only if they agree to be servants and castrated.

The book also incorporates Tepper’s eco-feminist ideology. Women’s Country exists within the framework of a sustainable economy with the people living off foods grown by low-tech local agriculture.

The citizens of Women’s Country are also very concerned with breeding violence out of society which they believe is biologically determined. ‘Medical Officers’ weed out undesirable men but women are also given hysterectomies and tubal ligations if they are deemed unfit to breed. The men from the warrior camps are only seen twice a year for a “Carnival” where women are encouraged to have sex with them either to satiate themselves and/or pro-create.”

Sir, you are Catholic. This pagan garbage does not follow suit with Catholic values & teachings. This parish was right to pull the plug on this GS troop. I pray for you that you & your wife will do the same. There are many more suitable options available including the American Heritage Girls (Christian) and my favorite, the Little Flowers.

by paying dues, promoting the organization by volunteering and giving in their annual campaign and by wearing the uniform you promote the council and national organization...Presently there are about 17 councils with a direct affiliation with planned parenthood and many other councils work with them.. Roughly 30% of the paid employees are lesbians....I think the church is right about not having a girl scout troop...So what do you think about the Susan g. komen foundation?
