Perfect resume, perfect looks, perfect family, and a perfect roster of skilled campaign operatives and blue-chip endorsements: Mitt Romney has them all.

Yet he comes out of his drubbing in South Carolina with a perfect dilemma.

“And it was the same a week ago in South Carolina when he took the stage at a tented evangelical conference and noted that he was wearing jeans for what he said felt like a revival meeting (the connection between fundamentalist Christianity and denim somewhat less than self-evident).”

Romney has no idea what it is to be an American living outside of Boston. It is as if he and John Kerry were clones separated at birth.

Did you see the photo last week of Romney doing his own laundry at a laundrymat in SC? We were supposed to be impressed by what a regular guy he was, but it was too funny for words. I said then it looked like his Dukakis-in-a-tank moment.

Yeah, who does he think he is fooling? I doubt anyone in his family has touched a washing machine for years. I imagine even the kids in college dropped their clothes off at a laundry service.

I don't begrudge the man his wealth, but don't be such a tool pretending you understand a middle-class existence.

The widening gap between Romney in theory, a man who oozes plausibility as a potential president, and Romney in practice, a candidate who just might be missing some kind of intangible something,

We've known all along what he is missing, and it isn't intangible to conservatives. Mitt has no core principles, other than the promotion of his own power and the feeding of his ego.

He is very much like Obama in his narcissim, except that Obama DOES have core values - really, really bad ones, but values nonetheless. With Obama, you get a Marxist who the media denies is such. With Romney, you get a squish who the media pretends is a conservative. In both cases, the media is selling bullsh** as steak, and then are surprised when voters aren't buying the sizzle.

The problem IS.............

The Republican electorate doesn’t want to vote for ANOTHER RINO. Think Ford/Dole/McCain/Romney iffen that helps any.

It’s gonna take a fighter—and a LOT of luck—to turn this ship around. Warts and all, Nwewt’s a fighter. If we can straighten him out on illegals, he’s good enough.

IMHO ANY Consevative who has a pulse, fights and speaks english can beat Barry this time around.

You just nailed it, comparing Mitt to John Kerry. That is the persona he projects.

Did you see the photo last week of Romney doing his own laundry at a laundrymat in SC?

All that was left would be for him to go to the laundromat attendant and say "Kin I git me some change here?"

Have you noticed that Mitt looks like a cross between Ted Danson and George Clooney?

THIS is perfect resume? ONLY in the "mind" of a Politico.

MITT ROMNEY - THE PROVEN BAD GOVERNOR

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

I saw a post yesterday that said he should drop out and start looking for a job as a game show host. That image fits him also. The used car salesman photo always makes me laugh. He just does not fit into the image of a president. We already have one of those and do not need another.

Do you think his strategy people think that with his liberalism his good looks will have more appeal to female and male Democrats than a frowning, aging twink?

The only difference between Willard and John F'ing is better hair dye.

What I always see in brief shots of Romney is George Bush the Elder. He looks like Poppy to me...

Yes I do. You can see that is who he is absolutely attempting to appeal to. In the process though, he is losing or cannot gain the real Republican base.
