Obama Voter Changes His Mind After Keystone Pipeline Decision

RUSH: To Philadelphia, Dennis, great to have you, sir, on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Rush, I'm a 48-year-old black man who has all my life been Democrat, and I want to say that as a truck driver, I listen to you, and been angry with you over the years, but I still listen to you 'cause I'm in a truck. But I have finally come to see something, and I want to say three years ago I would have never saw myself or thought of myself saying that I agree with you, but I am now dropping my association with Obama, who I voted for a few years ago. I'll never vote for this guy, I can't. I'm thinking of dropping even being a Democrat, but it's all because of you in a lot of ways.

The tipping point for me was Newt Gingrich, what he said a few days ago, something I would have really been very angry with and almost insulted by. He said that Obama's decision regarding this pipeline was stunningly stupid. And I could not disagree with that, because this pipeline, in addition to the fact that it's automatically gonna bring a lot of jobs, without a doubt help the economy, it's gonna have an immediate impact on the price of things. Impact on the price of gas, which in my industry is enormous. People don't understand how the price of fuel affects everything that they pay for, from food to any good that they get. But the bottom line is that this man, because of what I can clearly see as politics to support these environmental people, he is willing to destroy this country, destroy the economy, it's a no-brainer in terms of getting away from dependence on the foreigners, foreign oil. And I just cannot in good conscience continue to hurt my family in the amount that I'm paying for fuel, groceries, and everything else. I cannot in good conscience support this man when this is obviously political because it would have helped this country and the economy. So I want to say that I'm finally seeing the light and I'm done with him.

RUSH: This is major, Dennis. I mean, the Keystone pipeline, you are one of the biggest 180-degree changes of mind that we've ever had on this program. And you just changed your mind three weeks ago after a lifetime of thinking something else.

CALLER: Well, listen, I know he's gonna do his State of the Union talk tomorrow. I hope to God that whoever's gonna respond to him will highlight the fact that this is an intentional -- well, it's a slap in the face of every hardworking American in this country who pays bills, who buys groceries. I'm having a hard time in a lot of ways just paying for things, not just to mention my fuel costs, but the bottom line, my groceries and everything else. And if the Republicans, if you guys don't jump on this thing during your response to the State of the Union, you're missing a major opportunity, because this will have an immediate impact to benefit this country and everybody else. And like I say, I'm done with these people.

RUSH: Well, you're exactly right. I tell you who's gonna do the response, is Mitch Daniels.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: Yeah. (laughing)

CALLER: I'm saying I don't really know --

RUSH: Well, he's the governor of Indiana. And he was in the Republican presidential primary field and then pulled -- well, he never really got into it, he was very close to getting in but he never did pull the trigger. He's a budget expert. Indiana is doing pretty well. He was a budget director for Bush.

CALLER: Well, I would say to every black American who feels they have to have some loyalty to this man simply because he's black or because he's Democrat, we're shooting ourselves in the foot. We're killing ourselves. We're having a hard time as black people anyway --

RUSH: My God, you're singing from my hymnal! You're in my choir, Dennis. You are exactly right. This Keystone pipeline, everybody is scratching their heads. This is causing a lot of people to look at Obama in a different way. How did you know that he was acting out of loyalty to his environmentalist buddies? I mean, if you knew that all along but you were willing to tolerate that for a while, what was the last straw about this?

CALLER: Well, it was really a slow thing that I think started with the Obamacare and the fact that I know that the government doesn't do anything well. They just don'ts do things well. Everything they stick their hands into, it always becomes more expensive. But this thing here with the Keystone thing, I know how the environmentalists are. I understand the fact that they don't really want a clean environment. They want us to eat grass and live in trees.

RUSH: They're trying to force you off the road, Dennis.

CALLER: Well, that's true. I agree with that, but I just know that this guy was doing it more or less out of trying to buy time until the election is done. It's kind of obvious. It became obvious to me. Nobody with any sense can deny the fact that this is gonna help us -- and I'm hurting, to be honest with you. I am really hurting, and the fact that he's siding with these environmental people over just the whole economy, the whole nation -- and black people, my people in particular because we are really poor in a lot of ways compared to white Americans. I used to be kind of bitter toward white America in a lot of ways, but I'm not now. I really thank you for what you've done, and this is really transformative. I feel it's changed my life.

RUSH: Well, you've rocked my boat here. You've floated any boat. I can't thank you enough. What a day! I mean, this is... Guys like you and calls like yours are just one of the best things that happens to me. I can't thank you enough. I want to give you an iPad, Dennis. Do you have one?

CALLER: Well, no.

RUSH: I guarantee you'll find a way to use your iPad in your truck cab.

CALLER: (chuckling) Oh, wow.

RUSH: I guarantee you will. It's got 3G in it so you can connect to a cellular network when you're not near Wi-Fi, and you can find where fuel is the cheapest on your route.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: You'll be able to find where diesel is the cheapest. I assume that's what you use. Anyway, I gotta put you hold. I gotta go to a break. Mr. Snerdley will get your address, and give us an address that FedEx uses. That's what we use to send it to you, we don't mail it, and you'll have it tomorrow -- or wherever you want it, it will be there tomorrow.

CALLER: Okay. Thank you very much.

CALLER: Okay. (chuckles) Wow. This is amazing what you did. You're a wonderful guy, and I've over the months just become a bigger and bigger fan.

Yeah. I really, really, really hope that Cain drops that 9-9-9 business for this one speech, at least, and hits Obama where it hurts. It’s an important moment. And the Keystone Pipeline should certainly be one of his topics. And, since Cain understands it, Obama’s spending of trillions of dollars on useless crony deals. Solyndra is just the tip of the iceberg.

Cain may be very proud of 9-9-9, but this isn’t the time for it.

I'd see Cain doing a broader response, since TEA PARTY EXPRESS to my knowledge isn't necessarily endorsing "9-9-9" as the only workable idea. That was more a Cain-as-candidate platform kind of thing. Agree with you on the Keystone pipeline exposure, especially in light of Rush's caller.

Why does everyone think that if Obama was tossed from power that there'd be race riots? That is just so much MSM poppycock and seeds of dissention being sowed by losers and hand-wringers in our ranks. This Dennis guy is the voice which should inform a lot of people otherwise who believe (mistakenly) that blacks are all still so lock step with Obama.

I ask you: Is a man more concerned about the food on his table and gas in his car or is he continually expected to be enamoured of the guy with the same skin color simply because he's black, despite the fact that he promised everything and delivered only misery?

How does Obama being black help Dennis put fuel his rig? My bet is that while most prior voters might not necessarily vote against Obama, most of the same base won't be inspired enough to vote for him.

And that's how we win.

Hang in their buddy, Obama may not want this or promote it but it is coming.

You see your Diesel can be modified or a complete engine retrofit can get your rig to run on LPG which has a much lower price point.

Which means some margins so you can make a buck.

Again hang in and your vote ( Possibly for Mr. Newt) will count to make things like this happen...

Heard this live today, the guys passion on the Keystone Pipeline was strong. The working folks understand Keystone was ALL about politics over the need for new jobs. The Republicans need to hammer continually. If anyone talks about the Republicans forcing a timeline its a great opportunity to remind them how the administration pushed through health care and stimulus without people even knowing what was in the bill, but now , despite being given plenty of time, they are rushing them!!!

I would say that every working American, black, white, or purple is shooting themselves in the foot. If you are a parasite on the country, you are shooting yourself in the long run, but for the short run you'll do just fine. Wish I could hear the audio of this. Glad the guy is seeing the light. Probably no going back for him now. Obama is actively and purposely trying to destroy the middle class and it needs to be said everyday by our candidates and pundits.
