Newt up 5 in Florida (Newt leads by +5%)
PPP Polls ^ | January 23, 2012

Posted on 01/23/2012 5:08:08 PM PST by Utmost Certainty

PPP's first post-South Carolina poll in Florida finds Newt Gingrich with a small lead. He's at 38% to 33% for Mitt Romney, 13% for Rick Santorum, and 10% for Ron Paul.

Gingrich has gained 12 points since a PPP poll conducted in Florida a week ago. Romney has dropped 8 points. Paul and Santorum have pretty much remained in place. Their favorability numbers show similar trendlines. Gingrich's has increased 8 points from +15 (51/36) to +23 (57/34). Meanwhile Romney's has declined 13 points from +44 (68/24) to +31 (61/30).

Here's the good news for Gingrich in this poll:

at this point Santorum is just Vulturing. He is not doing anything constructive only destructive.

Kook Paul is abandoning primary states and going to caucuses in hopes of manipulating the system via open primary import voters.

Five to eight points in the next few primaries might, maybe, possibly get the RINOs to back off shoving Mitt down our throats.

In the past I called for Rick Perry to get out for the same reasons. However, I also now recognize that some of these candidates give a voter a place to go if they can't stand the "frontrunners". Also, Newt (or Mitt? Nah.) will have to fight to earn these votes holding out for Santorum.

If done correctly, that can be a very good thing for conservatives. I think Newt would make a stronger President than Rick, but Newt still needs to have beltway-itis bled from his system. Being forced to heel can actually make him stronger.

I don't get why this perfectly understandable original title had to be explained (in almost the exact same words) in a gratuitous parenthetical in the title box.

I mean: look at it.

I doubt most people do not know what "Newt up 5 in Florida" means.

IF by RINOs you mean the gop establishment, don't count on it. They are in a panic about Newt. He threatens their comfy, corrupt, easygoing little world.

Here's the deal: every time Newt gets stronger, the threat of a rino-inspired and financed turd party bid grows stronger. They did it to Reagan in 1980 using John Anderson, and they will do it to Newt using Ron Paul or whoever they think will do the most damage.

Make no mistake, the republican whores have their lifestyles on the line and they won't give them up without a fight. They will gladly see obama re-elected before supporting Newt.

Irritability is an excessive response to stimuli. The term is used for both the physiological reaction to stimuli and for the pathological, abnormal or excessive sensitivity to stimuli; It is usually used to refer to anger or frustration.

Irritability may be demonstrated in behavioral responses to both physiological and behavioral stimuli including environmental, situational, sociological, and emotional stimuli.

At this point Paul and Santorum are staying in the race hoping to secure a speaking position at the GOP convention and perhaps to influence the GOP platform. My guess is that they will stay in as long as they still have money.

Florida has been voting for a while and Romney gets the benefit of being way up when they opened the vote.

If many of those voted again I bet they would vote Newt.

This makes me ask, why open voting so early when so much can happen along the way?

Excellent news. I believe last night PPP had a preliminary poll with Mitt and Newt virtually tied. So with Newt up 5 shows movement in Newts favor. GO NEWT GO!

Personally I found the original title confusing, because “Newt up 5” could easily be interpreted as “Newt’s polling increased by 5% relative to his previous polling position.”
