Poorest Smokers Face Toughest Odds for Kicking the Habit

Quitting smoking is never easy. However, when you're poor and uneducated, kicking the habit for good is doubly hard, according to a new study by a tobacco dependence researcher at The City College of New York (CCNY).

Christine Sheffer, associate medical professor at CCNY's Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, tracked smokers from different socioeconomic backgrounds after they had completed a statewide smoking cessation program in Arkansas.

The discussion that I was part of had nothing to do with taxes. That is something you read into it all on your own. Regarding "my fault"... That is twice you have failed to recognize the gist with out the "/s" (that stands for sarcasm, btw); pay better attention. Does it become tiresome searching FR looking for the mention of tobacco so you can pounce on threads to whine about your pet peeve? Please be sure to not tell me.

For the record I am a cigar smoker. And even though I hate cigarettes, and don't care for their smell, and I'm glad I don't have to smell smoke in restaurants, I hate the taxes associated with tobacco, and think that those taxes, along with the draconian laws prohibiting smoking in bars. etc, are wrong.

Here's a suggestion: from now on when you do this, just post "sorry, my mistake", and move on to the next wrong thread. Now run along. I'm sure there must be a smoking thread somewhere on FR that desperately needs an anti-tax advocate. Criminy!
