For those who doubt that a strict enforcement regime will induce self-repatriation, consider what happened in the wake of the Special Registration program set up after 9/11. Under that program, foreigners from some countries were told they must register with the nearest immigration office or risk certain deportation if caught. Among Pakistanis, for instance, about 1,500 who were here illegally (on expired visas etc.) were caught and deported. Word spread. Before long, some 15,000 illegal Pakistanis hightailed out of the country on their own. They knew that formal deportation would decapitate their ability to obtain a visa in the future.
Needless to say, if illegal Pakistanis could self-repatriate to far-away Pakistan, it makes no sense to say that illegal Mexicans could not self-repatriate to next-door Mexico. The lesson here is that when you enforce the law against a thousand illegal aliens, word spreads, and 10,000 others begin packing their bags on their own.

There's two problems: One is that it's going to be hard enough with liberals getting all dewy eyed at the prospect of their dusky hued pets being sent home without forced labor.
Two: A surprisingly large amount of them are women that have children, what are we going to do with them?
If I were King of America, your plan is pretty close to what I'd implement, but for political expediency, I'd just let them deport themselves when they can't find a job.
As for issue #1 - yeah that is the Dems. Can’t help you with that one. Perhaps “hard labor” is the wrong term. My thought was a camp where people were required to work in order to earn their way out and back to their own country.
As for #2 - there are substantial number of support activities required to support a labor camp. The general rule of thumb is that there is a requirement for five times the number of actual productive workers to fill support roles. Barraks have to be cleaned and maintained, clothes and laundry has to be washed, food can be grown to feed the population, meals have to be cooked, daycare for the little ones, etc.
That is why the point system. Adjust the points so that the least liked jobs get more points but every job gets some points for their work effort.

What happened to our Alien Registration Law? Why not require all aliens-—legal and illegal to register or face immediate deportation if detected?

Agree. You know... I am not what you call a super educated person (w Masters and PHds and the rest), but stupid, I am not. I always suspected there was a reason why the US did not want to control the borders... I was naive at one time, I actually thought that people, Americans, Corporations, sure wanted MONEY like every one else, but NOT at the expense of the "Country." Now I learned that business themselves pushed the last Bush to give Amnesty to illegals... They don't want the BORDER FIXED!... I guess the want the slave labor. But i don't understand how Republicans themselves, do not want to fix the problem and that surprised me!... Especially now that all those job who the illegals did, are gone!... We don't have them even for our own poor people... so why do we want more unskilled labor?
I can understand the DEMS wanting amnesty for illegals...VOTES...Millions of eventual "Democratic" votes... when their children or illegals become American Citizens as many will I am sure.
But what is in it for the Republicans? Do you know?
For instance, i don't believe for one second the US is not "capable" of guarding our borders - Because they are so "vast" as some people want to makes us believe! - With all the technology we have... This should not be a problem. we could use walls/fences where needed, electronics, air surveillance... whatever, just for protection's sake, never mind about the illegals crossing it.
I have never, ever blamed the "illegals" (I have known several of them....all they want to do is work!). I BLAME those interests who want them here but don't want their profiles known
I hope PEOPLE wake up some day and if nothing else, be more aware of the games, politicians play with us. etc etc etc...
Bottom line, this COULD BE FIXED, but some one does not want to do it... The real question, at least in mi mind is, when will the average, regular people catch on to this game politicians and corporations play and begin to ask/demand a SOLUTION to this problem?
Hopefully NEWT will at try to address this problem in the right way, but the idea of taking "All the illegals putting in a train and taking then to the border.." is simply... ridiculous... Many of them will stay here, I guarantee it... but if at least we fixed the problem ONCE AND FOR ALL, then it would be worthwhile.
AND THEN, we should be vigilant and make sure this country protects their borders and control immigration with very tough penalties for businesses or people who brake the rules. But we should expect the US to protect our borders. We have the right to choose whom we want here. Period.
You know that this article is simply a veiled attack on Governor Perry, who’s had a decade to pass some of these measures, but just wasn’t up to it.
So, please, no more Perry attacks, he’s already dropped out.

I agree that the demonrats see every border crasher as another vote for evil, and *also* that many business owners and managers want the cheap labor they represent.
About that:
1. We have to bear constantly in mind the fact that “Republican” is not the same thing as “conservative.”
2. People who should never be in charge of anything are in charge of practically *everything,* and that seems to include a lot of businesses.

I’m afraid that you’re right. That’s why there is very little distinction between the PUBS and the RATS and, at times, voting appears to be meaningless.
The only winners in the game will be the elites in government and the muzzies. When the muzzies take over, the elites hightail it to their villas overseas and deny they were ever Americans.
The Center for Responsive Politics just released a report estimating $6,000,000,000 will be spent on all the elections in the US this year.
Like these people aren’t going to expect something in return for six billion dollars? On what planet?
