Sarah Palin was my first choice for president, but the left, the GOP establishment and many right here on FR wouldn’t have it. They trashed her and her family relentlessly with some of the unholiest filth and disgusting lies imaginable. Even so, I did little about it. I felt it was best to let the debate run its course on FR and that the best hard nosed conservative would rise to the top. Well, they drove her completely out and she didn’t run. Didn’t want to subject her family to such horrific pain and suffering. And who can blame her?

Then one by one, they turned their guns on and did the same thing to Gingrich, Perry, Bachmann, Cain and Santorum driving their support numbers down and Perry, Cain and Bachmann completely out of the race. As each one took their successive turns as our leading non-Romney conservative, they were relentlessly attacked, trashed and driven out.

Looked like we were repeating 2008 and were going to be stuck with a sure loser RINO again and Obama would waltz in for a second destructive term. We’re now running out of qualified conservative candidates and I’ll be damned if I’m going to allow Free Republic to be used to drive out our last remaining best conservative shot of defeating both Romney and Obama!!

Then a funny thing happened. Newt Gingrich, whom they’d destroyed and left for dead, arose from the grave and began smiting the heathen. He’s back as a born again hard as nails, no nonsense, bad ass battle scarred veteran of two greatly successful conservative revolutions--the Reagan Revolution of the 80s and then his own Republican Revolution of the 90s--and he's kicking godless RINO ass!!

I'm all in with the Gingrich Rebellion!!

I’ve looked at Newt’s plan. It’s Reagan’s plan on steroids. Radically reduce government, regulations, taxes, spending and the deficit! Restore constitutionally limited government! Restore states rights, restore individual rights, restore economic freedom! Restore superiority through superior firepower and restore American exceptionalism! Whack and dethrone the dictatorial liberal activist judiciary! Get the government the hell off our backs, out of our lives and out of our religion, and stop the wholesale slaughter of the innocent unborn!!

In short, restore our God-give unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness!!

We are the sovereigns!!

Now what is there not to like?

The GOP establishment claims that Newt is too extreme and not electable. That he will be unacceptable to evangelicals, women and the so-called independents.

Well, I guess South Carolina put the lie to that rubbish. Newt Gingrich won the majority of every important demographic category, including seniors, evangelicals, women AND the independents!! The only demographic Romney took was the LIBERALS! Now, why is that?

Newt has the support of the conservative base, the tea party rebels, the evangelicals and the independents and we are forming a Reaganesque coalition to defeat the GOP establishment RINO and the Obama Marxists!!

And now Newt is the leading Republican in the national polls. Guess the GOP establishment is full of baloney on that one, too (as usual).

"Electability" (as defined by the GOP-E) gave us Ford and Dull and McLame. Voting for the crazy right-wing extremist gave us Ronald Reagan!!

They dismissed us before. They denied us, denigrated us, trashed us, tried to ignore us, but now they FEAR us!! And they should.

When the people fear the government there is tyranny.

When the government (or the GOP establishment in this case) fears the people, there is Liberty!!

Fear of the people is a good thing.

The Declaration of Independence explains that government derives its "just powers" from the consent of the governed and clearly lays out our recourse when government becomes abusive or destructive to our freedom and God-given Liberty:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

I say alter it then!! The government is clearly out of its constitutional bounds!!

Secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity!!

We are rebels seeking to take back our freedom or aren’t we?

Rebellion is ON!!

Join or die!!

Don’t tread on me!!

May God continue to Bless America and may our Liberty be completely restored!!

Hear, hear! Long live the Republic and the Constitutionally sound provisions which are part of it!!!

Throw the rest out. Out with traditions which contradict the supreme law of the land. The USConstition requires the Declaration of Independence to be lawfully understood.

I’ve been in the Conservative movement for 30 years. I’ve been there, met Newt in the mid-80’s, watched his life and career. He’s had some great achievements. He’s also had some massive failures — personally, philosophically, politically.

He may be a man JimRob can support — and the majority of FreeRepublic. And I might end up pulling the lever for him in the end. But I will not campaign for him. I cannot trust him. He has not proven himself trustworthy over the last 3 decades.

The the contrary, Newt has shown himself to be a master of doublespeak, an expert at talking a good game, but then failing to carry through in most of his promises, while finding a way to benefit himself and excuse his own excesses.

I am NOT a Romney supporter. I do NOT like Mitt Romney. I started the same place as JimRob — supporting Sarah Palin. I understand why she didn’t run, and it saddens me that she chose not to — though I understand why. I then supported Michele Bachman, but she dropped out before the SC Primary. I chose last Saturday to vote for Rick Santorum, because although I am not crazy about all his positions on issues, I believe he is the closest thing to a Constitutional Conservative we have still in the race at this point who ALSO has personal Character and integrity.

I will continue to hope and pray Santorum picks up steam. Otherwise, otherwise, we will be faced with the establishment man, Mitt Romney, or the slick talking Progressive who I find it extremely to trust on personal issues — Newt Gingrich. That’s not a choice, that’s an insult to Constitutional Conservatives — and either one guarantees Obama 4 more years. Mark it down.

I really wish you were more proactive with your Palin support. But I do understand your desire to let the cream rise to the top.

And you are right. She was trashed on these very threads for two-plus years. I am sad for my party that the best conservative to take on Obama was sidelined due to personal smears and and leftwing-contrived memes.

I will write in Palin. No matter.

That is mine and many other Tea Party conservatives feelings about Newt, and in the end we will hold our nose to vote for him against Obama.
