The Senate confirmed McFaul as ambassador on December 17, 2011. Transcript below.
NPR: Let's say Vladimir Putin wins the election in March and remains in power in Russia. Where are we in these countries, I mean in this evolution towards democracy you describe?
MCFAUL: We're, you know, two decades in. I'm not going to give grades about, oh, how democratic or not it is, but most certainly this system is not the totalitarian dictatorship of the Soviet Union. Let's be very clear about that. Individual rights have progressed far. Choice is greater than it was before. And maybe not as great as it was a decade ago.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Universal values = No values
Oh...that would be the Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, along with the the Bill of Rights!
Which of those are not “Universal”?
Of course Obama wouldn’t want to impose those nasty American values on anyone.
[R. Reagan rolls over in his grave]
Let him be first to be fired in November.
Coming soon to the Universal Church.
No one reading this, no one, can give me another word for that.
Yeah, that’s what we need. It’s for sure we don’t have enough federal, state, county and city laws along with all the administrative rules, regulations and edicts, we need more people telling us what to do by giving us more laws. How did that go?
“Love the Lord your God with all thine heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” So, honor God and all his wishes. Be Christians, “Little Christs”.
“Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Treat other people like you would want to be treated if you were them.
Wow. Two directives versus the endless pages of federal, state, county and city laws along with the volumes of administrative rules, regulations and edicts that man has come up with.
Simplicity versus endless complexity. Elegance versus crass, clumsy verbosity.
Treason
