(Huffington Post) — Irish actor Liam Neeson has revealed he is considering giving up on his Catholic faith and converting to Islam.
The Hollywood star, 59, was recently filming in Turkish city Istanbul and became fascinated with the muslim faith during his stay.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: “The Call to Prayer happens five times a day and for the first week it drives you crazy, and then it just gets into your spirit and it’s the most beautiful, beautiful thing.

Our society in the West is actively discouraging spirituality and religious faith - that is true. I imagine Neeson’s upbringing 50 years ago in Ireland was quite different from his world today. And he sees value in that, though the leftist in him won’t let him understand why.

When I was in Indonesia, I admit falling in love with the call to prayer. It is beautiful. It’s beautiful because it is an open expression of devotion that is part of the fabric of daily public life.
We used to have Church bells here that played during the day before busy bodies got that quashed through noise ordinances.
As for him using this as an excuse to choose a religion it’s own founder admits could easily have come from a demon as from God over Chritianity (Catholicism) is indeed nuts, but perhaps nuts borne out of grief.

Funny, when I was in Istanbul two summers ago, I didn’t have the same reaction. My guide spent the day “quizzing” me on Christianity. He said that Muslims knew more about Christianity than Christians did - that we were ignorant and weak. Glad I paid attention in Sunday School and Bible Study so I could at least defend my faith with facts and logic. When he realized that I wasn’t going to back down, He said, “first we ask you nicely to join us. Then we tax you. Then we kill you”. The quote is verbatim. I can’t imagine not wanting to be part of that!!! Needless to say, he didn’t get a tip :-)
