DAVOS, Switzerland - US President Barack Obama plans to accelerate the pace of American aid to Egypt, a top State Department official said on Wednesday, as the most populous Arab nation reaches a critical stage in its uncertain transition away from autocratic rule.
Undersecretary of State Robert Hormats, part of a US delegation that held unprecedented talks last week with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, said Washington wanted to provide "more immediate benefits" to Egyptians, who earlier this month conducted their first democratic elections in decades.
"During this period, we want to be as supportive as we can. This is an historic moment. Egypt's a country of enormous importance," Hormats said.

The man is not insane. He is not rewarding the MB. He is just giving his brethren their inalienable caliphate rights.
He is calling for “aid” to his proxies for the upcoming Egypt-Israeli war as they recognize they are out gunned, out thought and up against a far more advanced people.
Money cannot cure stupidity. Ask Saudi Arabia. Better yet ask Iraq and Afghanistan. More than enough money has been thrown at those areas and the core problem has not been addressed ~ Islam.

Obama's timing is impeccable.
Remember when they took out Osama? It was reported that after being told they could take him, Obama went off by himself for 16 hours before giving the word. My first thought -- rather cynically :) -- was "Probably clearing it with the Muslim Brotherhood!"
Subsequent events? IIRC, there was very little Arab response to the killing of Osama -- no Arab street in flames. Soon after, Obama jumped on the chance to declare an "Arab spring" and give American support to ousting Mubarak. Then Ghadaffi (or however you want to transliterate it). In sum, I thought and still think the deal was that if they didn't hassle him about ordering Osama killed, he would support them in taking over, well, whatever they could get away with. It may not be over.
This is not going to end well.

Subsidizing the rope with which they will hang us....
Pakistan and Egypt are not and never will be our friends no matter how many billions we pour into them. Imagine what a competent and determined CIA could accomplish in these countries with even half the $$ we spend to subsidize our enemies.
We should stop fooling around in the bush leagues and just subsidize the Iranian nuke and ICBM programs.
