From NBC News:

Failing to show early signs of momentum in the Sunshine State, presidential hopeful Rick Santorum on Wednesday signaled he may be cutting out of Florida before the state’s Jan. 31 primary.

Speaking to reporters here, the former Pennsylvania senator said was unsure if he would be in Florida the night of the primary, committing only to campaigning in the state over the next two days. On Saturday, he’ll head home to Virginia for fundraisers and to prepare his tax records which he plans to soon make public.

If so... Then why is he staying in the race?

Could he do a Perry after the next debate?

If he stays in it for Florida and knows he has no chance of winning, I’d be willing to bet he’s trying to tank Gingrich and let Romney get the win.

Don’t ask me why?

Perhaps it has something to do with the proxy server...

If Santorum is not out by the end of FL with another small showing, he will be out of the race soon after.

Awwwww, no! I love Santorum. I’m hoping he sticks it out until after Gingrich implodes!

I could be wrong — and I pray that I am — but I believe Santorum lacks the wisdom, maturity, and character of Perry. He’ll happily pursue his selfish hopeless hope and in the process screw the team. If we’re lucky it won’t be fatal.

And don’t even get me started about Ron Paul, that sorry jackwagon.

‘wisdom, maturity, and character’

What are three characteristics that Newt will never have.

I would like to say “no way” but then again, there is a certain Arlen Specter hanging over Mr. Santorum when it comes to supporting lefty Republicans.

Can someone explain to me why Santorum is not catching on? His candidacy reminds me of Huckabee, but Huckabee did much better than Rick S. is doing.

I read an article today (Here, I think) that says Santorum’s supporters will turn to Gingrich and not to Romney.

I’d understand if Santorum withdrew and didn’t endorse anyone, but if he openly backs Romney then he’ll be exposed as an establishment Republican. And his claims that he regrets having supported Specter over Toomey will be shown to have just been political face saving.

Santorum is simply waiting (and hoping) for a Gingrich collapse and withdrawal from the race. In this extremely unlikely scenario, Santorum would pick up all of the Gingrich votes and would cruise to victory over Romney.

Not going to happen Rick. Time for you to bail.

Throughout his career and the primary Santorum has acted favorably to the establishment's cause at election time. If Romney's that cause, that's where his loyalty will go even if he doesn't openly endorse.

If Santorum is skipping FL and moving on to VA, where he lives and isn't on the ballot, under some claim he'll release tax records he apparently can't trust his wife with ... it sends a signal.

I’m guessing Santorum is running out of money and can’t really afford to campaign. So he’s basically suspending for now and seeing which side will buy him.
