Scarborough & Dean Brawl Over Dem/Union Obstruction Of Education Reform
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Howard Dean: "I need to take you on a tour of America's public schools; that's what I need to do." Joe Scarborough: "I've been fighting for education reform for a generation, and every time we've tried to reform schools . . . it was the Democratic party on the House floor and on the Senate floor and in the White House that stood in the way. I do not need lectures from you on education reform."

And that was the polite part of the exchange! But seriously, Joe Scarborough and Howard Dean had a big-time brawl on today's Morning Joe on the subject of education reform. Dean defended teachers unions and their Dem lackeys, while Scarborough, who has made education reform a theme of his show, denounced the Dem-union cabal that has thwarted real reform every step of the way.

Joe finally remembers he was proud to be one of Newt’s warriors once upon a time.

If you want to see the beginning of education reform, watch what happens in WI.

Walker is opening the teachers union to allow the individual teachers the opportunity to pay {or not pay} union dues on their own.

This lone fact will do more for the quality of education than all of the charter schools in the country.

It will take a few years, but as the teachers begin to realize that they keep more of their money, that bad teachers can be fired, that better teachers get bonuses, that the students learn more, the union in WI will become a thing of the past.

When I'm long gone, citizens of the USA will look at history and Gov. Walker will be thanked as a hero of the public educational system {yeah, Newt and I both make grandiose statements hehehehe}.

he chose to forget. If it wasn’t for Newt, there would be no GOP majority in 1994. Joe would just be another GOP congressman pushing for Pensacola pork because that’s the only thing the Dems will allow.

His dislike (and Ann Coulter’s and Glenn Beck’s) is visceral. I have a hard time writing it off to RINO-ism but I’m having a hard time understanding it.

It won’t take take that long. IIRC, after Indiana passed the same laws earlier, nearly 90% of govt employees stopped authorizing the dues check off, and union revenues have dropped considerably. Where are the actual numbers?
