Mitt Romney Campaign Launches Surrogate Infiltration at Newt Gingrich Campaign Events
ABC News ^ | Thursday, January 26, 2012 | Elicia Dover

Forget the indirect attacks and distant exchanges between the Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich campaigns through the media. The Romney campaign pledged this week to run a “a full racketing operation,” right in Gingrich territory.

A source close to the campaign told ABC News there will be a Romney surrogate at every public Gingrich event in Florida standing by to rebut Gingrich’s speeches to the media.

“The campaign is entering a phase now where we are defining the terms of the Florida race,” a Romney staffer said.

The staffer said it wasn’t a sign of fear on the Romney campaign’s side.

However, the campaign didn’t feel the need to trail Gingrich when he was in 4th in Iowa.

The campaign decided Sunday night to send a staff member to Florida full time, specifically to handle the Romney surrogate group set to trail Gingrich.

Romney’s regional press secretary, Amanda Henneberg, was on hand at two Gingrich campaign stops Wednesday to offer Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fla., who spoke to several members of the press about what he thought were Gingrich’s inconsistencies in his speeches.

At the first event today, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, was on hand along with Romney staffer Dave Kochel. At the second event, Mack and his wife Mary Bono Back joined the group.

We need a Palin right now to get out and campaign with him.

This is them vs us. If you cannot see that now, one never will.

Sadly, if Romney is the candidate, Obama wins another four years. Then the blame game starts. I think the GOP decided a long time ago that they could not beat Obama; like Rush says, they only want the Senate so they control the $$$. I am so sick of these Washington elitists!

It is clear now that they view us as the enemy, and we should treat them accordingly.

Not rallying aroung the nominee this time, GOP Establishment.

You’d better get a George Allen or someone in the race to replace Mitt if you want any shot in hell at winning in November.

-- I honestly believe if Gingrich gets the nomination the Washington insiders will consider assassination. --

Our politicians aren't any different than those from ancient Rome.

I think Mr. Romney and the establishment might have gone too far today. We will see, but backlash is coming, I feel it. Romney is slime, and if they think I will vote for him they are sadly mistaken.

The establishment will blame Newt and the Tea Party for Mitt's failures.

Someone here on FR said he tried to get two tickets and none were available out of the 800 for the general public. The venue seats a total of 3000.

I will be packed with shills, no doubt about it.

This is fascinating to watch for me, because it is as if we are getting a full view of the slimy, reptilian, underbelly of the republican machine...

Fixed.

LOL! Newt always has an answer!

That said, this is such a scummy thing to do. But then, scummy is probably Willard’s middle name. It’s a very OWS (like the anarchist fruitloopette who showed up at a Gingrich talk the other day and tried to grind it to a halt).

The RINOs and even many of the “conservative” pundits who are annoyed that we are not heeding their superior wisdom really do hate us and they are going to do everything to crush Gingrich.

These Republican clowns of 2012 who might, if they possessed principles and fortitude, keep liberty and the Republic for future generations (as in Benjamin Franklin's meaning in his response to a questioner, "A Republic, if you can keep it") are shortsighted and, instead, are willing to sacrifice the liberty of generations yet unborn in order to "force" their hand-picked candidate on the populace.

Instead, they are so devoid of understanding and so filled with their own sense of Party that they will run a candidate whose money and organization, they believe, will keep them in power in the House and Senate.

And, that candidate, when asked what he has been doing to preserve and promote the conservative cause answers that he has married, had a family and worked "in the private sector," and quickly switches to other things. Meanwhile, there are numbers of business people in those same years who were out there every day using their earnings and abilities to warn America that the American dream was being lost and that American memory was being erased of the principles of liberty.

What a potential candidate!! His wealth will be resented and used as a "cause" for defeating him, and his lack of ability to explain the Founders' ideas underlying freedom for individuals will go unexplained for another generation.

I have never been enthralled with Ms Coulter. Guess my gut was right...
I feel like FR has been used by these people to sell books and promote websites.
