(1996 Presidential Candidate Loser) Bob Dole Has Dagger Out For Newt Gingrich Run
abc ^ | 1/26/2012 | By Matt Negrin

Bob Dole, the 1996 GOP Republican presidential nominee, unleashed an attack on Newt Gingrich today, saying not only is he unsuited to be president, he’ll crush the party’s candidates at the state and local levels.

“Gingrich had a new idea every minute and most of them were off the wall,” Dole said in a statement published by National Review.

Dole was a senator from 1969 to 1996, overlapping with some of Gingrich’s time as speaker of the House. In his statement, Dole said he’s decided to speak out against Gingrich “before it is too late” and Republicans nominate someone who “will have an adverse impact on Republican candidates” running for local office.

“Newt would show up at the campaign headquarters with an empty bucket in his hand — that was a symbol of some sort for him — and I never did know what he was doing or why he was doing it, and I’m not certain he knew either,” Dole said.

Holy Cow! I totally forgot Newt said that!! I bet Bob Dole has been hanging on to this letter for 20 years waiting for the perfect moment to get back at Newt.

Newt Gingrich called Dole the tax collector for the welfare state.

Before there was McLame, there was Dole.

Geez, even the Party Hacks must realize that Viagra Bob is a defunct brand. They must be really, really desperate.

Go home Mitt.

Another one who insisted it was his turn; but the public didn’t want him.

Dole is speaking for the GOP establishment who picked him because it was his turn.

Probably overdosed on Viagra.

I won’t let a loser decide for me who we should go with.

The empty bucket was symbolic. Ice was delivered every morning to the offices of the representatives ( at quite a cost). Newt made them get their own ice

One of Gingrich's better ideas was to expose Bob Dole as "the tax collector for the welfare state." Which was true. Dole was a pathetic rino establishment organ grinder monkey out there with his little tin cup dancing to the 'rats tune.

He was a war hero but nobody in Beltway DC ever gave a shit about real heroes anyway, so he only fooled himself.,/p>

As for his campaign, your last student council president could have done a better job.

Dole ended his public service doing fritoes commercials with Ann Richards sitting on a couch. (Couch envy of Newt? maybe.) Dole went on to do Viagra commercials as well. Like I said: Pathetic.

We didn't lose Congress in 1996. A feckless Dole just lost the presidential election.

He’s just standing up for the next next-in-line. That’s the way Republicans do things.

And from his picture on Drudge it looks like he’s had a facelift.

I wish Dole would attack Ron Paul more. We need a boost in the polls. Why should Newt get all the benefit?
