Palin: establishment trying to "crucify" Newt
The Washington Examiner ^ | January 26, 2012 | Philip Klein, Senior Editorial Writer

Posted on 01/26/2012 11:56:52 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, in a pre-recorded interview with Fox Business Network to air tonight, said the establishment was trying to "crucify" Newt Gingrich in the Republican presidential race.

In an interview to air on Stossel at 10 p.m., Palin also says she sympathized with Ron Paul and defended his record on domestic issues, though she expressed differences with his foreign policy views.

Here's some advanced excerpts of the interview:

On whether she is sympathetic toward Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-TX):

“I sure am….he is not the only one vilified, though, look at Newt Gingrich, what’s going on with him, via the establishment’s attacks. They’re trying to crucify this man and rewrite history, and rewrite what it is that he has stood for all these years....

He is not a puppet like Romney.

He is not for gay marriage like Romney.

He is not for Obamacare like Romney.

He is pro life. Romney is pro abortion. Romney for higher taxes.

The attacks on Newt are so vicious that they may actually create a serious backlash. It's just too much.

I didn't see the entire debate, but Eddie Haskell seemed just a little too pleased with himself as he greeted his followers just afterwards.

Newt, reborn out of the sludge of DC Politics, will be the best of Presidents. He has the ideas and the ability to pull off dramatic change. Sarah Palin is right about this. She is a patriot and I only wish she were running. Maybe Newt will pick her for VP.

True, he knows his way around DC; however, he was never an "insider" like McCain, Dole, Rockefeller, and other types who think DC was built to be their bank and their playground.

Newt has some warts, but he spearheaded the year that gained the GOP 54 seats in the House. The media has never forgiven him, because they were saying up to voting day the GOP could not win more than 6 seats, and probably just 2.

Also, I watched a lot of the ethics circus against Newt, and always thought it was trumped up, and his spineless "establishment" colleagues threw him under the bus. The IRS, after picking Newt's PAC apart, cleared him and it of wrong doing, but long after it would do any good.

I hate the way McCain and Dole and others are piling on. Those two ran such wonderful campaigns to become President, they really know how--oh! wait a minute!--neither of them made it because they ran sorry campaigns and had zero umph and carisma, to say nothing of the stupid things they said. I voted for both because the alternative was NO alternative, but both were wasted votes.

The moon is chock full of rare earth materials and other things we could mine and ship back to Earth. Might not be a waste. Besides, we’ve had a base on the moon since 1965...

If the media can destroy a guy like Newt in such short order, just IMAGINE what they would have done to Sarah Palin.

Or what they will do to Mitt Romney...

Why do you think he WANTS a moon base?

One average-sized platinum-group metal asteroid is worth the entire world’s gross annual product. That is trillions of dollars, and that ain’t trash.

We’ve had the technology to mine, smelt and manufacture in space for over thirty years. Democrats, lik JFK, used to have vision, but no more. They’re all about divying-up existing wealth, not creating wealth.

What Newt Gingrich is advocating is the leaping off point for a whole new industrial revolution, one that could cause a world-wide economic boom!

Assuming one doesn’t spend oneself broke before being able to harvest any of this asteroid metal. Not saying Newt’s idea would do that, but the US is in kind of a pinched position right now.

Newt want to waste more money building a base on the moon.

Not a waste. If you can throw rocks and time them right, you can dominate the planet from the moon. The energy required to get them to the Earth is relatively little compared attacking back. This might sound like the next round of MAD (Mutally Assured Destruction), but the non-nuclear deterrent would be impressive.

It really does not matter who is currently anti establishment, he/she will be crucified (Even if they are just pretending)! If you don’t realize by now that politicians are in the game for fame and fortune then you are hiding underneath your pillows.

Very rarely are there politicians who are either honest or trustworthy and very hard to find. Today we have neither in the Republican party. So folks vote for whomever you wish, it makes no difference in the end.

We have reached the end of our political system. As long as money buys influence, we don’t have a chance!

McCain has endorsed Romney. Palin gives a ‘shout out’ for Newt and Newt wins. What sweet revenge for McCain’s cowarly failure to defend her against the scapegoating of the Steven Schimdt and those other Romney staffers in McCain’s campaign, who shot her in the back. In the old Western morality tales, only backshooters ranked lower than horse thieves as the lowest of the low.

Unfortunately, it is a real problem! Not sure that it will be ever resolved though...

Politics seems to be more of a perception problem rather that a realistic problem these days. The only ones seeking power are those that want power or those that have power.

What are you going to do? Love the political system that rewards those that have the most money...the worst of politics wins with money - grand isn’t it?

Wouldn't that make them "Rare moon materials"? But if its chock full, then they are not rare. So they should just be moon materials. But you can find them on earth as well...
I guess they are just materials.

I think that can be chalked up to how, arguably, the whole meme that Sarah was “unelectable” and “polarizing” was started by Romney aides working for McCain, even before 2008 was over.

Good morning:

Does Newt have a prayer? Please cheer me up.

I didn’t watch the debate last night because I was out. DIdn’t tape it. Haven’t read any of the posts. Depressed as hell from yesterday.

Clearly, Ann Coulter is behind Drudge’s posting of the anti Newt articles.

TGO was sticking up for NEwt last night big time, but then reminded us that he’s for Santorum.

I think Newt has four days to make us all feel great about being Americans with big ideas. The aviation and space is an American venture. It can make us great again.

I’ve been trying to understand the reason for all of the hatred for Newt from the right. I have never seen anyone attack someone in their own party so viscously as they have the last few days.

I kept thinking surely they don’t have that much love for Mitt. The last election everyone hated him and now they expect us to believe he is the conservative answer? It just doesn’t make any sense.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it isn’t about Newt and Mitt at all. It is about us. I think the republican party is out to kill the Tea Party and Sarah Palin once and for all and they don’t care if they have to reelect Obama to do it. The elections of 2010 were a hard pill for them to swallow and I think they intend to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Yes, they want republicans to be elected. They just want to make sure they are the “right” republicans.

The republican party has already set the stage for a loss to Obama by saying no one should say anything bad about him and saying they don't think he can be beat.

They don't really want Mitt to win. They offer him as the sacrifice and the goal is to kill the voice of true conservatism.

As for Ann Coulter and Glen Beck I think it has to do with their own power and popularity. Sarah takes away their power of influence and they know it.

“We have reached the end of our political system.”

I do not believe that for a minute. When the 60-80 year old generation gets out of the way, the next generation will find a way to organize (social media, perhaps?) and adapt our political system to their needs. The Depression-WWII generation had TV and Suburbia - the next generation will have something else.

“Does Newt have a prayer? Please cheer me up.”

Yes, he does. Santorum beat up Romney last night on Obamneycare for Newt, then went to Pennsylvania to do his taxes, saying he was kinda tired and out of money.

Romney said if an executive came up to him proposing a trip to the moon he would tell that executive “you’re fired!”

So, that leaves three days for the SuperPac to run advertisements for Newt and against Romney, three days for Romney to shoot himself in the foot again, and three days for a person who was told to stay home and get out of this election to fire for effect again!

Have a great weekend!

Newt should have responded... "I believe that would be your response. And I also believe that if an executive working for you while at Bain came into your office and suggested that a company should be purchased, downsized, cut into pieces and liquidated, rendering thousands jobless but making millions for Bain, you would have responded with "Wonderful idea" and given him a raise."

Yes the GOP is breaking apart, the neocon wing of the GOP is purging the libertarian wing from the party. Once that is completed the GOP will be reduced to big government social conservatives, big government neocons and milk toast know nothings that just don’t like Democrats. Didn’t Reagan say something about libertarianism being the heart of conservatism? I do not think purging libertarian leaning conservatives is going to work out well. Particularly at a time when libertarian leaning conservatives are the only ones offering creditable solutions to our big government problem.

The role the USA could play in this scenario does not have to monetary. There now exists a profit motive to moving out, into space.

Large international corporations are, at this moment in time, holding back hundreds of billions in $$ from the USA because of the 35% capitol gains tax.

The role of the Federal government will be as a facilitator, much like the Federal government was during the opening of the American frontier in the early 19th century. It is up to us citizens to make sure its role doesn’t expand later.
