The Drudge Report saw a drop in traffic yesterday of two million hits in the wake of proprietor Matt Drudge's two-day attack on Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
Drudge started his attack on Gingrich Wednesday evening with a banner headline accusing Gingrich of insulting former President Ronald Reagan. Drudge carried on the attack all through Thursday, at one time having fourteen anti-Newt headlines at once.
The assault on Gingrich prompted many supporters to announce they were swearing off the Drudge Report with some saying they would stop using it as their home page.
According to statistics posted by the Drudge Report, the site's hits on Wednesday, January 26, were 33, 807, 227.
Yesterday the hits, as published today on the Drudge Report, were down a full two million to 31, 802, 534.
Me too. Habit broken, page marker deleted.
Drudge be a poofta.
Good news. I went to his site yesterday just to see the list of anti-Newt items, but I haven’t been to his site in years.
If that trend keeps going, Drudge will probably FUDGE the numbers to keep his advertising rates up.
His advertisers cannot expect him to provide the truth anymore than conservatives can.
I think we know where mademoiselle Drudge supports. She made herself perfectly clear. I’ll stick with FR when I want to check news articles.
I haven’t been to Drudge’s page for probably 4-5 years. Every time I’d go I would:
A) Get a ton of spyware popups, and
B) See nothing but stories which FR had already been covering in great detail.
His RINO activities are even more reason not to ever visit his cr@ppy, stale site. Glad to see it hurt his precious hit count; I hope the trend continues.
God bless FR and Jim Robinson for his strong pro-conservative views.
When Drudge starts exposing BO’s past, he may get some of us back. What is a good alternative to Drudge? Anybody know?
Drudge ain’t my homey page no mo...
THIS IS AWESOME NEWS!!!
Damn. I made one mistake this morning out of habit and clicked my bookmark for Drudge. I immediately realized what I did, and deleted the bookmark. Problem solved.
Not defending Drudge here, per se, but... if he were presenting some facts about what Newt actually said about Ronaldus Magnus, back in the day... How is that an issue? Facts is facts. (if true, that is...)
I was shocked by those headlines, myself...
Outstanding!
I stopped going to Drudge last week.
I sent Matt lots of "Tips" yesterday and a few "Tips" today.
“Guaranteeed, there was direct outside influence.”
If Drudge’s ideology is pro-Romney, then there didn’t need to have been outside influence. It’s possible that he posts what he believes.
please someone give me the name of a site that does something similar to Drudge because I am tired of Drudge and his bias.
On 1/23/12 Drudge had 24,416,083 hits, so you could say Drudge is up more than 6,000,000 since his attacks on Gingrich. Or, if you want to go Thursday to Thursday, Drudge had 31,002,492 hits on 1/18/12, more than 1,000,000 less than 1/26/12.
He’s getting a lot of hits from romobots voting over and over on his phony poll. What kind of poll is it when you can refresh and vote again and again?
