Obama: People Don't Get Rich on Their Own
Fox Nation ^ | 27Jan 2012

Posted on 01/27/2012 8:52:24 AM PST by mandaladon

President Obama tells a college audience that people don't get rich on their own. Obama's point that without government and paying your fair share, ultimately the successful wouldn't be able to get where they are.

"We do not begrudge wealth in this country. I want everybody here to do well. We aspire to financial success, but we also understand that we're not successful just by ourselves," President Obama said at a campaign event in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday morning.

"We're successful because somebody started the University of Michigan. We're successful because somebody made an investment in all the federal research labs that created the internet. We're successful because we have an outstanding military that costs money. We're successful because somebody built roads and bridges. And laid broadband lines and these things didn't just happen on their own. And if we all understand that we've got to pay for this stuff, it makes sense for those of us who've done best to do our fair share and to try to pass off that bill on to somebody else, that's not right. That's not who we are," he said.

This is a common new meme that they are pushing to young people. I see it a lot from that idiot Massachusetts lib female professor who is challenging Senator Brown.

Young minds full of mush eat this stuff up.

More ass backward cargo cult thinking.

Things like roads and bridges do facilitate industry but they don’t drive it. There was a growing need for an interstate highway system, the interstate didn’t create the need.

So what.

Artists don;t paint a work of art alone. They have people who make the paint, the easel, the canvass, who pose, etc. etc.

But you know what Obama? Without the DAMN ARTIST, there is NO WORK OF ART!!!

He is so obtuse. I can’ believe the garbage that comes out of this idiot’s mouth.

His election was a perfect example of the dumbing down of America. Too many superbowls, reality shows, Star Dancing and watered down history courses.

WTF, indeed.

This is simple, create a cabinet level, Department Of Getting Rich Because Of The Government, staffed with a 1,000 bureaucrats paid at the maximum $172,000 dollar a year salaries and give it a 5 trillion dollar a year budget to throw money at... well... anything.

Utopia for all will be just around the corner.

An often forgotten fact is that the interstate system was built to speed up the transport of military materiel in the advent of war and had nothing to do with helping industry or the public. Same with the internet and information.

Using Obama and Elizabeth Warren’s convoluted logic “No one got rich on their own” nonsense, would prompt me to ask them why isn’t everyone rich then? If everyone benefits from these services, products, roads, bridges, etc, that you speak of, then why do have so many poor people?

They will continue to pound us with this line of thinking in order to justify taking more and more of our $$. I want to ask any of these hardcore leftists (they are NOT liberals) what % of total taxation (Fed, state, local, etc.) would be considered too much? One’s income is part of their personal property. It AMAZES me how the hardcore left continues to justify the increased taking of ones personal property and thus taking away more and more of one’s freedom. Make no mistake about it: they ARE attempting to take away part of your freedom by using the above line of thinking and propaganda

The interstate highway system was built on fraud in the first place, congress did not have the constitutional authority to construct a highway system, they were shot down numerous times by the courts, they then decided on a national rouse that the highway system was necessary for National Security, the Courts and Congress went along with the rouse and that is how we got our interstate highway system. BASED ON FRAUD AND DECEIT, not that it isn’t a good thing in the long run, just the way it was done, thereby giving CONTROL TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Had the States done it on their own, we would be much better off.

[People buy internet service and companies sell advertising to pay for the internet — CAPITALISM WORKS] We’re successful because we have an outstanding military that costs money [I gladly pay taxes to support the military]. We’re successful because somebody built roads and bridges. [Roads are built and maintained through gas taxes which all consumers pay for in the price of goods and services — SPECIFIC CONSUMPTION TAXES WORK AND ARE VOLUNTARY] And laid broadband lines and these things didn’t just happen on their own. "our fair share"

I'm getting a little SICK of someone else telling me what THEY THINK is 'my fair share' of anything!

Right now, 'my fair share' is close to 50% not including PROPERTY TAXES, GASOLINE TAXES, SALES TAXES, LICENSES & FEES, etc., etc., etc.....

This reminds me of Mr. Clinton’s definition of being alone.

According to Mr. Obama, you receive a degree from the University of Michigan and you’re all set!

My father became a successful doctor because he worked for it - not because someone granted him the success.

OMG.

The misinformed left, they actually think - including obama - that someone GAVE rich people (and the successful middle class) everything they have...I suppose that's why I see obama's supporters riding around during the day in Escalades and Mercedes, and not even having to go to work.

The point is, even if someone inherited the money, the ones they inherited it from had to work for it, it didn't just appear from thin air.

They seem to have the minds of a naaive 12-year-old.

My wife runs a store and many of the obama supports tell her that they'll "come back when they get their check from barrack".

I agree, We needed it and it worked out pretty well, with the exception of the Controlling Authority by the Feds, but the way it was done is how we screw ourselves, by disregarding the Chains of the Constitution and using trickery and fraud to disobey the Constitution, in the end we will all lose, because this behavior perpetuates that behavior.

President Obama tells a college audience that people don't get rich on their own. Obama's point that without government and paying your fair share, ultimately the successful wouldn't be able to get where they are.

In a division of labor and free society, one person's gain is not only not other people's loss but is other people's gain. Both in their origin and in their use, great fortunes are source of gains to everyone who participates in the economic system.

But such fortunes originate in innovations that result in the earning of a high rate of profit on capital, almost all of which is constantly reinvested, so that the high rate of profit rapidly compounds. The fortunes emerge as the sum of the reinvestment of these compound profits over a period of many years.

Our real problem with the highway system today is due to waste, fraud, stupidity, etc. After all we shouldn’t be funding city transportation projects, rain gardens and museums out of highway funds. As far as I’m concerned the highway funds should be strictly restricted to upkeep on interstates and related bridges and nothing else.

I’m even OK with letting some roads here in Michigan return to dirt if they have minimal traffic. I live on a dirt street that hasn’t seen a snow plow for years and I’m just fine.
