Obama: 'Nobody envies rich people' Posted by CNN's Kevin Liptak
(CNN) - President Barack Obama hit back Friday at a charge lobbed at him from Republican presidential candidates, saying the suggestion he's inciting class warfare was flat wrong.
Speaking to Democratic lawmakers at a retreat on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Obama said he would actively rebut that charge in the coming election year.

"This is one of the biggest things I'm going to be pushing back on this year, this notion that this is somehow class warfare, that we're trying to stir up envy," Obama said. "Nobody envies rich people, everybody wants to be rich. Everybody aspires to be rich, and everybody understands you've got work hard to be successful. That's the American way."
Candidates seeking the 2012 GOP presidential nomination have accused Obama of pitting 'haves' against 'have nots,' saying his rhetoric and policies amount to redistribution of wealth.
In his victory speech the night of New Hampshire's primary, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said Obama was a "leader who divides us with the bitter politics of envy," suggesting his proposals boiled down to an indictment of free enterprise.
Fellow candidate Newt Gingrich has also made the argument Obama is engaging in class warfare, saying in December the president has a "European radical attitude toward class warfare."

Holy crap this guy is AN IDIOT.
This just in, snow is not cold.
Obama: ‘Nobody envies rich people’
..as much as Moochelle and I do.
the entire leftist ideology is based on envy, covetousness, and theft.
“It is a kind of spiritual snobbery that makes people think they can be happy without money.” Albert Camus
“At some point, I think you’ve made enough money” - B. Hussien Obama
so ask obama this does he really believe that the only way for all americans to be successful is too have the government confiscate $ from those who are successful, and once they take the money from the successful where does the next bunch of money they need come from?
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
"The workers and proletarians resolutely denounce any suggestion that their anger towards the imperialist tools of the Wall Street plutocrats is somehow class warfare or that we're trying to stir up envy and hatred against the kulaks and other forms of the bourgeouisie," Obama said.
Obama 2012: “Follow my policies and I will give America the financial stability of Greece and the employment opportunities of Spain”.
That's not covetousness or envy ... it is resenting what others have and wanting it for yourself...but not envy... Throw your old dictionaries away (or redact the word 'envy')
That’s Obama’s crack cocaine kicking in.
This only tells me that class envy doesn’t poll well with real Americans
Probably at least 50% of all humans not awash in cash do envy the wealthy... fantasy, the liberal reality...
He’s right, it’s not about envy.
It is about resentment.
Obama’s solution is not to lower Buffet’s secretary’s taxes, but rather, to raise Buffet’s taxes.
This is about punishing rich people, thinking that it will somehow make poor people feel better.
I think that obama is correct, at least to a point. The poor, and I mean the liberal base, food stamp welfare mammas, do not envy the rich. They do not want to be the rich, they covet what they have and want someone else to give it to them.
Libtards have lost the ability to think or choose not to. They are left with nothing but their emotions to guide their actions. One of their fundamental emotions is envy which leads to resentment against achievement and hatred of the good for being the good. This leads to desire to destroy or punish the rich with confiscatory taxation.
Obama is telling people that in order to be rich the only way to do it is rely on the Government and the Government will think about it.
Someone needs to take away his crack pipe.
Gee, Barry, if that were true, why'd you want to become one????
(Inquiring minds . . . . . . . )
Maybe I’m vulnerable to suggestion today. I know I am getting weary of all the sniping when so much of substance needs to be addressed. As are many, I am deeply concerned about what is going to happen to all of us.
However, is it just me or was this speech today, both in tenor and content, the most frighteningly archetypical of the rantings of a dictator intent on whipping the masses into a frenzy of greed and envy against any one whom he has directed them to hate?
The campaign has not even begun in earnest. This is just his beginning. I tremble to see what he does when a Republican is identified and I am downright terrified of what he will do if he is clearly losing.
I hope and pray he cracks. It would be for the best.
Then why does he and his followers want what they have without giving anything in return?
I didn't listen to his most current speech, but if you say that it was:
"...archetypal of the rantings of a dictator intent on whipping the masses into a frenzy of greed and envy against any one whom he has directed them to hate...",
that really doesn't sound any different than many of his previous speeches. Yes, he normally delivers it in a 'passive-aggresive' mode - rather than full-throttle, eyes bugged out, veins sticking out of his neck, mode (which I kind of doubt he did today -- he's just a passive-aggressive guy. I don't see him getting whipped up about anything) - but the content is the same. He can claim the contrary, but his speeches are always about dividing us, and promoting Class and Race divisions and animosity.
As far as being 'frightened', or 'terrified' ... Don't worry about it. God IS in control, and He has always been in control. If it is our time to suffer as a Nation, due to our own sloth, and the choosing of 'leaders' who don't lead but appeal to our greed and pride; and the disavowal of giving the LORD the worship He is due ... so be it. We know that He who created the Universe is good, and by Him all things consist. If hardship drives repentance on a large scale -- wonderful. If it doesn't ... well more hardship might be in store - but our rest is in Him, from this time forth, and forevermore.
2 Corinthians 4:16 - 2 Corinthians 5:1
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
