Why Was $2 Million Worth of Cocaine Shipped to the U.N. Mailroom?

UNITED NATIONS (The Blaze/AP) — When mailroom workers at the United Nations decided to search a white bag with a suspicious looking U.N. logo last week, they probably never expected to find 16 kilograms of cocaine (about 35 pounds) hidden in books inside.

Paul Browne, the New York Police Department’s chief spokesman, said the drug was in a white bag evidently masquerading as a diplomatic pouch that raised suspicions when it was being scanned because it was stamped with what looked like a poorly concocted version of the U.N. logo.

Browne said there was no name or address on the shipment sent from Mexico City through Cincinnati.

U.N. security officials called the NYPD and Drug Enforcement Administration, which confirmed the substance inside the shipment intercepted Jan. 16 was cocaine, the police spokesman said.

Watch this Fox Insider report:

U.N. undersecretary-general for safety and security Gregory B. Starr told reporters Thursday evening that “there is nothing to indicate that this had anything to do with anybody at the United Nations.” Starr said the drug was actually stashed in two bags that were stamped with the sky-blue U.N. logo of a world map in an apparent effort to masquerade as diplomatic pouches, which are not supposed to be inspected. Inside the bag, the drug was hidden in hollowed-out notebooks, he added.

The U.N. official showed journalists a photograph of the bags that were seized, and compared them with a real diplomatic pouch used by the U.N., which is somewhat larger and made of a different material.

“This did not come from a United Nations facility,” Starr said of the shipment. “It was not, in my opinion, not intended to go to a United Nations facility.”

Right now there's a guy in Cincinnati having to explain why he only delivered 11 bags of a 12 bag shipment.

IMEO, the U.N. logo on the bags was just an in transit cover giving them legitimacy to the casual observer. The two bags that showed up at the U.N. were just “spillage” and the other 98(+-) bags went to their intended recipient.

After the food for oil scandal, the N Korea ‘humanitarian’ fund scandal, El Baradai’s shilling for Iranian nukes (scandal), and various other scandals, I just assume its more of the same entrepreneurial spirit being demonstrated by our shining examples at the UN.

These guys only exist to feather their own nests.

So we are to believe that someone just sent 2 million in cocaine to the UN dead letter office. If that is true then look for your suspect there.
