Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain endorsed Newt Gingrich for the GOP nomination late on Saturday at the same time accepting a position as the former House Speakers tax reform chairman."It is time for conservatives and Republicans to refocus their attention on the ultimate mission of defeating President Obama," Cain said. "I believe Speaker Gingrich is the bold leader we need to accomplish this mission."

If you want breaking news about Mr. Newt, it will probably have to come from FREE REPUBLIC! That is why we are all here. What you find, someone else hasn’t seen as yet. It is the first thing I do every morning, and the last thing I do at night. Of course, I am a political junky and so I also check throughout the day.
GO MR. NEWT!
What a wonderful evening it was! We were delighted to hear Congressman Allen West, Speaker Gingrich, and Herman Cain all on the same evening! And I was also honored to get to meet Callista Gingrich who was ever so gracious to me!
I have hope that those who do not KNOW that Newt is a TRUE CONSERVATIVE will learn the truth about Newt! This article that Rush featured on his show yesterday is a must read!

If only Dr. Sowell got the nationwide exposure he deserves...instead we hear from ignoramuses like Lady Gaga and George Clooney.
I watched this on C-SPAN. This is the right time for this kind of thing. I get the feeling that team Romney has over reached. There is a palpable backlash to the hit pieces we’ve been seeing on the DrudgeReport,NRO etc. They’ve been so blatant and disgusting that it is really begining to have a negative effect. Also I think it is pretty clear who was responsible for the hit job on Herman Cain. The same people tried the same thing with Gingrich and of course Perry was out of the race. Just as in 2008 when the Romney team spread rumors that Thompson was dropping out before Iowa and that he wasn’t serious etc we’ve been seeing his surrogates at work and I’m personally glad some of the ones which weren’t so clear in 2008 have now shed their masks. I’ll never look at them the same again.
They want to end the conservative revolution of 2010. They were happy to take the gains but they don’t really desire that the Washington power structure change significantly in design or even its liberal bent. They much like the Democrats don’t have any desire to cut down the size of the beast they only want to control it. That’s the problem with power. Sometimes the most dangerous man is a man who thinks his aims are so good that he can turn evil means to a good end. That is what we are facing.
I hear over and over again that nothing is as bad as Obama but are people really comprehending the substance of what they are saying when they say this? They are saying that they have already surrendered because if that low standard is the standard it guarantees that the left will have moved the goal post once again and most likely permanently. It means we will have no hope of ever returning to even Bush level deficit spending levels. It means that all hope of significantly simplifying and improving the tax code is gone. It means truely leveraging and releasing our energy resources to fuel our economic engine with cheap energy is gone. Maybe some are willing to lower their standards without a fight but I’m not.
We have a chance to do great things in the defeat of Obama. There is no safe or easy route to that win and if we fight that fight we should be able to delight in the ability to finally be able to push back not just pre-Obama but totally rollback the deficit spending and big govt agencies and Obamacare which will go on forever otherwise.
Now is not the time to set our goals low and try to win as a thief in the night with a man who appears to not just lack passion but virtually have no soul so much so that he needs a special speech coach to speak from the heart. I’m sorry I have more faith in us and the principles we believe and the America people who have continued to reject Obamacare. If we let the GOP betray them on this OUR credibility is GONE. We can not send the message that the only reason we don’t like Obamacare is because a Republican President didn’t propose it which is exactly what we are saying if we offer up a nominee who defends a fiscal disaster of a program that is only in a slight degree different from Obamcare.
The American people had started to view the GOP differently and trust them for a change and now there are those in the GOP who are ready to sabotage everything right when we are approaching what could be the sweetest victory imaginable when we could have a real chance to roll back deficit spending and the size of govt. I’m beginning to think that we have an enemy within who have no intention of ever going for the kill where the left is concerned. They have the idea of only slowing down the adjustment to a new permanent reality which involves ever growing ever expanding govt and increasing liberal worldview. They are the pallbearers of a once great nation. They may see America’s decline as inevitiable but I’ll fight it till my last breath.
I know that. I’m like you. Used to just check am and pm. Lately, it’s way more...My dog gets depressed when I sit down in front of the computer.
Speaking of endorsements: Here’s one for the books: Cuban Radio personality says Cubans in South FL going dramatically for Newt.

"Three Days In August: A U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier's Fight For Military Justice
and given to Callista Gingrich tonight at the Lincoln Day dinner in Florida by a dear friend and Great Patriot, Jeannie! Callista promised Jeannie that she would give Newt the letter and the book! I hope with all my heart he will speak out about the injustices our Soldiers are suffering! If this doesn't work, we'll chase him down at CPAC! God Bless Jeannie and James!!!!
Speaker Gingrich,
Below is information on a Soldier sitting in Leavenworth for killing a known Al Qaeda terrorist. I believe lst Lt Behenna is a victim of failed policies such as the catch and release and insane ROE’s. I believe also that appeasing the local Sunni tribe there in Iraq was more important to this military than standing by a brave lst Lt such as Michael Behenna. There is another case of injustice in addition to Michael's and that is the outrageous case of Special Forces Army Medic Kelly Stewart. Bob McCarty wrote a book about this case “Three Days in August” but in a nutshell, Kelly, while stationed in Germany, cheated on his wife one night, and two months later this woman with a long mental history claimed Kelly had kidnapped and raped her! During the trial, German officials would not allow her mental health history to be entered into testimony. Her motive: if Kelly was convicted, she gets lifetime victim benefits in Germany! Please look into this case, details can be found at www.savethissoldier.com. Long story short, Kelly will live with the label of “sex offender/rapist” for the rest of his life and this has destroyed his life.
I will be at CPAC collecting Post Cards For Soldiers. I have 16 volumes of these books. I hope to see you there and hope I get an opportunity to talk with you about the injustice our Soldiers are suffering.
Thank you!

The Ballad of Michael Behenna by Chad Evan Todd:
http://www.ourstage.com/profile/chadevantodd/songs
(click on link and click on the song “The Ballad of Michael Behenna)
Michael Behenna is currently serving 15 years (reduced from 25 years) in Leavenworth prison, in part because of Americas catch and release policies:
What is Americas “catch and release policy?
Its when American and NATO forces capture Taliban members only to watch them walk away free. (This occurred in Iraq as well).
As Sara Carter of the Washington Examiner reported, in the words of one our soldiers:
Its as if the Taliban have more rights than us or the people of Afghanistan, said Specialist Charles Brooks, 26, a U.S. Army medic with 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, in Zabul province. We have to let these guys go all the time no matter what they do, and then we find them trying to hit us again. But if they think Ive screwed up once, then theyll [the military] have no problem throwing me to the wolves, Brooks said.
It gets worse.
Taliban soldiers are instantly set free when a village elder signs “the pledge, a piece of paper that vouches for them. Thats it. Thats not an option for an American serviceman serving time for combat related convictions here at home.
As the New York Times reported May, 2010:
The young Taliban prisoner was led blindfolded to a sweltering military tent, seated among 17 village elders and then, eyes uncovered, faced a chief accuser brandishing a document with the elders signatures or thumbprints. Capt. Scott A. Cuomo, a United States Marine commander told the prisoner: This letter right here is a sworn pledge from all of your elders that theyre vouching for you and that you will never support the Taliban or fight for the Taliban ever again. the captain rendered the groups judgment on the silent prisoner, Juma Khan, 23, whom the Marines had seized after finding a bomb trigger device, ammunition and opium buried in his yard So on behalf of peace, your family, your grandfather, Captain Cuomo solemnly said, were going to let you go.
That's right, Taliban members, terrorists, insurgents — SET FREE.
Why are terrorists, who have admitted to killing our Soldiers, released while brave Soldiers such as lst Lt Michael Behenna sit in Leavenworth? What message does the US military send when we punish our own Soldiers more harshly than we punish the combatants who have killed and maimed our brave men and women on the frontline?
In addition to the insane, cruel and counterproductive catch and release policy, please, take the time to read this article by Diana West on COIN.
Below is a quote:
The counterinsurgency tactic that is sending U.S. soldiers out on foot patrols among the Afghan people, rather than riding in armored vehicles, has contributed to a dramatic increase in arm and leg amputations, genital injuries and the loss of multiple limbs following blast injuries.
What are Americas policy makers thinking? How many more servicemen will senselessly die, be maimed for life, or sit in prison after serving under these deadly and senseless policies?
Do we as Americans really wonder why so many of our Soldiers suffer from PTSD? The question is why havent our elected leaders and policy makers done something about it?
Now, just yesterday, it was reported that Obama is about to release Ali Musa Daqduq, a brutal Hezbolla terrorist who killed 5 American Soldiers, 4 of these Heroes he kidnapped and tortured before he killed them.
http://pjmedia.com/tatler/headline/the-terrorist-get-out-of-jail-free-card/
Here is more on this administration releasing and negotiating with terrorists:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/8216122.stm

http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/06/uighurs_released_to_bermuda_al_1.asp
And this is just a partial list of this scathing catch and release policy by this administration!!!
It is my hope that Chad's song will be a huge hit and will be played on radio stations all across America. For the last two years Michael's mother and I have been up on the hill and we have knocked on so many Congressmen’s doors, yet the catch and release policy and COIN still prevails. Meanwhile more Taliban soldiers walk free simply on a pledge. Through Chad's song, I believe that Michael Behenna’s story will finally be heard and Americans will be outraged, and they will demand that these cruel and insane policies that are hurting our military be stopped! My Son served 4 deployments with the 82nd Airborne, he is a Bronze Star Recipient. I regard lst Lt Army Ranger Michael Behenna as my Son, they are all our Sons and Daughter who serve. There is a line in the song “The Battle of Michael Behenna and it goes like this:
A fine young Soldier sits in Leavenworth tonight,
“Step up and lend your voice
To the right side of right
There's something worth doing something about,
Let the voice of truth lead the way
and lead Michael out!
Free Michael Behenna!
It is my hope Newt uses his national platform to lend his voice to the right side of right and campaigns to help our Soldiers and put an end to the cruel and insane policy of “catch and release.”

Watch Newt Gingrich Lincoln Day Dinner Speech
http://www.therightscoop.com/live-now-watch-newt-gingrich-and-allen-west/
Haven’t been on Drudge for almost 48hrs.....that’s a record, but I won’t go there like I used to check 6 times a day
Well said and me too!
I like to get reports from folks who are on the scene. I missed the last part of Newt’s speech and I can’t find a video anywhere. C Span has romney’s appearance this evening already on video, but not Newt’s. Somebody said that Newt looked like something was wrong. I saw the first half of his speech and he did look awfully tired to me. He sure needs to pay attention to his health and get in better shape.
Drudge is making himself look like a real a$$.
I found Free Republic from Drudge the first time I ever was on Drudge. I came here and I’ve never gone back there. Who needs him?
I believe Newt will win here in Florida and also win enough primary elections across the nation to become our Republican Nominee for President. America will win when Newt becomes our Commander In Chief!
I am sure it will be repeated on CSPAN. They were present for the entire event, including the speech by Congressman Allen West and the video appearance by Senator Rubio. Check the CSPAN schedule Sunday for a repeat of the program.
I was never so disappointed in Drudge.....a headline for every attack on Newt, but a downplay on his great endorsement by Cain.....despicable Matt.....
What an evening!
Allen West was energetic!
Herman Cain was dynamic!
Newt is inspiring!
Thanks STT. I found it last night finally. The closing of his speech was very touching. Brought tears to my eyes. Who knew that Newt could be that soft?
