Willie Nelson Song to Appear on Occupy Wall Street Album
tasteofcountry.com ^ | 28 Jan 2012 | Brittany Joy Cooper

As previously reported, Willie Nelson is rallying behind the Occupy Wall Street protests. While many country artists have kept mum about their thoughts on the movement, Nelson posted a video in October of him and his wife reciting a poem they wrote in favor of Occupy.

Now, he’s joining forces with other famous musicians who share his stance on the topic by contributing to the album ‘Occupy This Album: A Compilation of Music By, For and Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street Movement and the 99%.’ The album is expected to release in the spring.

As far as I'm concerned, Willie is no longer welcome in Luckenbach.

ROTFL! Poor Willie. The ONLY thing he has in common with the OWieS is that he smokes marijuana. This is proof that he has probably smoked one too many joints. Willie. I’ve always been a big country music fan. YOU are overrated.

Will the album be given away free? If we have to pay for it, it’s just more exploitative corporate jive for the 1%, man.

I’m not all that big of a Willie fan, but I’m sure Willie can still hit the road in his tour bus and fill Luckenbach, or any venue in that nation and will still be welcome by his fans.

By the way, are you a resident of Luckenbach?

Willie has written some of the greatest Country songs of all time; “Hello Walls,” “Crazy,” “Funny How Time Slips Away,” etc., but I think all of the pot has gone to his head.

Willie had a gig in a Western town a few years back. He went on stage so drunk or stoned, and senile he could not remember his own songs.

Just about the time that big city libtards in places like Oakland have had enough of the noise, smell and vandalism, tax evader Willy Nelson crawls onto the OWS bandwagon. Apparently, he is too stoned to understand that OWS wants to come down HARD on rich people who don’t pay enough taxes. That would include him. You just can’t make this crap up.

I recall when he sang the National Anthem at the 1976 Democratic National Convention. Up till then, I had never heard of him, and in his long hair and scruffy clothes, I thought he was some hippie they had dragged off of Skid Row. When he sang the song, he omitted the part about the rockets and bombs.

Willie Nelson made a very bad first impression with me, and when I hear his name in the news, I still think of that performance.

There are a few people that live there, allegedly.

I bike ride through there a few times a year and it is a great place to stop and take a break.

But, those who do not live there, have no say in who is not welcome in Lukenbach.

I wouldn’t go that far.The man is a nutcase as far as his peronal life, but his music stands against anyone. When you see him in concert and he plays an hour and a half without playing more than half a song and you know every one, that’s a deep well. But yeah, he’s equally a kook

Willie is still touring only with a smaller group. He is also playing to smaller venues it seems now days rather than the larger arenas of the past. He has some 20+ dates for Feb/Mar.

Never been a fan, He's just an ok guitar player, take or leave the singing, its ok, been a public heavy dope smoker, adulterer, not setting an example for any one to follow.
He's an outlaw like an inner city youth with the hat on backwards an the pants on the ass, but he just has hair down the back, an smoked dope on the white house roof.
50 cent would do the same an be praised by his followers.

Willie loves to play and loves to tour. A year or so ago I was talking to one of his crew and he said that it is not uncommon for him to receive a call at 8:00 at night and be told to get to the tour bus at midnight because Willie needs to play.

From that and other things, I get the impression that Willie keeps touring so that he will keep living. They also say that even when the band stays at a hotel, Willie stays on the tour bus.

On The Road Again is not simply a song.

Willie’s too stoned to remember to pay his taxes....that’s why keeps touring.

Willie has never been anything more than a drunken junkie with mediocre talent at best. From my viewpoint, Willie should just haul his sorry a$$ down to OWS where he can just drink and drug himself to death.

Word was back in the heyday that they never knew how Willie would arrive at a venue. It may be that he caught a ride with a trucker, hopped a plane, thumbed a ride, etc. but it seems he was a free bird so to speak. I enjoy the days when he had Waylon and Jessie Colter, along with his sister Bobbie. I’ve seen them do a two set, walk off to standing ovations and come back for another hour or so.
