Mitt Romney alledges hidden camera incident (Mitt's Meltdown Caught on Tape)
YouTube ^ | 12/12/2011 | dannybishopdsm

At 10:20 in, Romney thinks he's no longer being recorded and gradually flies off the handle in an off-air conversation with the host. Here you can see the true temper behind the corporate raiding "buyout baron." The link will open the video at exactly the right moment, no need to use the slider.

I recall another freeper said he/she had a friend who worked for Mitt Romney once and said he was the meanest man she'd ever met. Please reply to confirm the details of that if the freeper who wrote that several weeks ago is reading this.

Watched it, didn’t see that happen. I’m for Newt, totally against Romney. Where is the flying off the handle in that video?

Meltdown? Where? This was just a good passionate discussion, and I happen to agree with his position for the most part. Let’s not overplay the hand, there are plenty of valid reasons to oppose Romney without nitpicking and making stuff up.

If I were the one talking to Mitt, I’d have told him to chill the hell out and stop jumping to accusations.

I remember seeing this the last time Romney ran for president in 2008.

So do I.

There are good reasons not to support Romney. This video, however, and whatever it is you think it shows, is not one of those reasons.

He was known for being polite to everyone he came in contact with.

Perhaps but all those condescending looks and smarmy laughs are beyond creepy. Seems like a mask. He's always on stage and acting. He's hiding something with that holier than thou bs.

The difference in his demeanor between when the headphones are on and he’s on the air vs. when he thinks he is off the air are stark. He has never shown this side of himself in public that I’ve seen. I find his personality as shown here to be self-centered, short-tempered, rude, repellent, appalling and disgusting. This is a peek at the Romney that Brett Baier said confronted him off-camera to complain about his Special Report interview last month. It also fits with the Romney who we know from Politico’s article is cold as ice and refuses to talk to or engage with reporters on a personal level on the campaign trail (unlike Newt).

I agree.

I really dislike Romney -- but I watched the first 13 minutes of this video and I thought he was more polite and more reasonable than the guy interviewing him.

I will never vote for Romney. That's a flat statement. But this video doesn't show me that he's a jerk.

Original Intent, Volume 6, Issue 3—Aug/Sept 2007
Guard With Jealousy the Public Liberty: The American Constitution
An Elective King!!!
Yet, over the last century or so the Presidency has taken on a life of its own, one akin to that of a King. As a matter of fact, the American presidency has become exactly what the “Anti-Federalists” feared, the office of “an elective king.” 6 According to the late Dr. W. Cleon Skousen
(mentioned in the interview): “The Founders would be amazed to learn that under the influence of a European centralist philosophy known as democratic socialism, the President has been burdened with a host of other responsibilities never dreamed of by the Founders.” 7 Likewise, one can only imagine their alarm to see the vast number of federal agencies that now exist under the executive branch as well as to learn that these agencies are authorized under the color of law to reach across state, county and local government boundaries to meddle in the private lives of American citizens.
Jefferson warned that executive tyranny could one day become a reality: “The executive in our governments is not the sole, it is scarcely the principal, object of my jealousy. The tyranny of the legislatures is the most formidable dread at present and will be for many years. That of the executive will come in its turn, but it will be at a remote period.” 8

Are we at that remote period?

It's been a while since I've linked them...

2007. Here's a lower-quality upload, but at least semi-properly labeled: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MRbIwshAvU

I seem to recall an incident during the SLC Olympics where he personally berated and insulted some volunteers for something. Memory seems to tell me it was a traffic control situation near Snowbasin in Ogden.

I think he can turn into another person if he thinks he will either never see you again or he is not emotionally tied to you in any way.

If posters can’t see Romney’s Clintonesque instinct to lie, bristle and double-talk, I don’t know what to say...

Do viewers understand that Mitt claims he was secretly recorded by a hidden camera?

More info on the incident:

Video source is apparently: Jan Mickelson radio talk show on Aug 2, 2007 on WHO Radio in Des Moines, Iowa

http://granitegrok.com/blog/2007/12/i_knew_ronald_reagan_mitt_romney_is_no_r

As part of her “primary questions” project, Katie Couric asked all of the candidates about the last time they lost their temper and what happened. Romney said he doesn’t lose his temper but instead becomes “intense.” He went on to note that the last time was in a radio interview w/ Jan Mickelson in Iowa, during which he said Mickelson attacked his faith.

Could you imagine a reporter questioning a candidate like this about Judaism?

Not the same thing at all. Jews have ‘denominations’ with their own positions, not a hierarchy. And secular Jews see their affinity as ethnic, not religious at all.

Judging by the replies, so far, it still amazes me what people take away from this interview. Where is people's curiosity?
I went looking for information on the name that was dropped twice as it seemed central to the interviewer's POV.

To: JediJones; All

I really don’t have enough of a masochistic streak to watch this alleged ‘meltdown’ video clip, and I thank my fellow FReepers for suffering through however much of it they did so I could decide not to watch it, as one comment stated “there are plenty of reasons to oppose Romney, this video is not one” so I’ll just go with that.

It still comes down to “would I trust this man to transport my Irish Setter to Canada without strapping him to the roof rack of his station wagon?” And the answer is HELL NO!
