THE LINK WAS NEVER GONE! I posted that the link was still there, a few days ago, on the same idiot thread that claimed the link had been removed. Don't you guys even check for yourself to see if something is true?

DITTO! Same here, that link has been consistent this whole time, and I don't know who the numb nutz was who started this "Drudge Dropped FR" mee-mee, but it was not, and IS not true!

The link was dropped for several hours on Friday night after someone started a ‘boycott Drudge’ thread.

I have no problem with the Drudgereport site. He posted links to MSM stories that attacked Gingrich. That’s good information to know and it is helpful to have them all in one place. Romney gets attacked far less by MSM, so naturally there are far fewer links to report. I want to know about these attack stories to stay informed.

Exactly. Don’t forsake Drudge because he will probably be the only source of truth after the primaries are over.

I found Free Republic only because I went to Drudge and he had a site called Whitewater listed. That was the forerunner of Free Republic.

I actually don’t go there much and didn’t before the famous anti-Gingrich posts went up, but I don’t want Drudge to fail.

I guess we have a difference of opinion on the definition of "information"..

Yours is an extremely kind, level-headed, thoughtful way of looking at all the negative reporting. Of course, I disagree with the premise that Drudge did us a great service last week.

Drudge is a free enterprise not NPR. If you like his service, visit his site, if not, don’t.

I completely agree with you. However, in this era of heightened emotionalism, simply stating the obvious is deemed by some to be heresy.

LOL ! A chill-pill and/or a time-out is in order.

Link or no link, I no longer visit his page. Vote with your feet, your remote, your fingers; but the only way to lets these bastages know that we made them and we can break them is to not use their services when they no longer provide decent services. That goes for Drudge, Ann Coulter, Faux News, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Rush, any of them. If they want to claim conservatism then they better walk the walk, not just talk it to line their pockets at our expense.

I found FR from his link at about the same time. But, I never went back. I like this site much better.

“One can argue as to whether he’s biased or not, but his livelihood depends on getting things right.”

His livelihood may also depend upon whom he aligns himself:

There are a couple of threads on FR about Drudge - this one is informative (I added a little more info in my post #59). Apparently, Mitt’s campaign has been working with Drudge since 2005 (the Drudge-Romney axis):

He must be noticing a considerable decline in hits.

I’ve been using some of the FR suggested alternatives, and they are quite good.

As I agreed with bigbob,

Drudge is a free enterprise not NPR. If you like his service, visit his site, if not, don’t. No more. No less. Nothing implied. Nothing inferred.

I have been a long time Freerepublic and Drudge reader and I have watched the reaction to how news on Gingrich is presented on Drudge over the last few days. The only conclusion I can come to, having read Drudge since the Clinton era, is that Drudgereport is not noticeably different from my reading than when it first began. He puts up headlines that people on Freerepublic like. He puts up headlines that people on Freerepublic dislike. Really no perceptible difference that I can see.

One thing that is predictable on Freerepublic is there will be someone who is celebrated for a certain set of views and they will become THE opinion to follow, and then they will produce an opinion piece that causes an almost immediate 180 for readers. Its happened with Drudge, with George Will, with Charles Krauthammer, with Ann Coulter, and with Newt Gingrich.

I have no problem with Drudge’s site at this point as I just don’t see it being different than when I first started reading it. Some content I don’t like and don’t read, and some I do like.
