RUSH: One Romney staffer told a blog, "It's not about winning here anymore. It's about destroying Gingrich -- and it's working." So a Romney campaign guy says: We're not just trying to win here. We are trying to destroy Newt. And they think that it is working. Now, people hear that, and it's tough to predict. Let me try to explain something. A lot of people may misunderstand me when I say this, and it's a -- it's a deeply personal thing. Well, don't misunderstand that, either. When I say "deeply personal," I mean strictly related to me. I've been doing this for 25 years. I know there are people that hate me, and I don't care.

I can remember Rush discussing this issue of personal attacks on him before. And he’s right. If you go out there and knee jerk at every attack, then people will ratchet it up.
As for Romney, I’m completely agreed.
Rush has the experience here to offer the advice. However, Newt has to find a way to push back because his numbers are affected by the hit job.
Well the GOP is not listening to Rush’s advice.
I am waiting for Rush to finally give up on the republican establishment. After some 20 years on the air, Rush should realize that the establishment is not coming around to his way of thinking.
I am waiting for Rush to state that the rinos need to be marginalized the way they are trying to marginalize us. And the only way to do that is a 3rd party movement.
We may have to bite the bullet one more time just to get rid of Obama, but after that we all should leave the republican establishment high and dry.
I am also wondering if Romney wins the nomination, who would he have to pick to get us to grudgingly pull the lever for him? I do not believe Sarah would team up with Mittens. So who would it have to be?
Good freaking question.
I can honestly say (for bad or good, you decide) I had totally checked out of the 2008 campaign until McDip$hit announced Sarah as his VP.
After that I was all in 100%.
I think that “surprise” announcement is gone and I don’t know who he’d get to make me want to go pull that lever.
For me, no one. Romney anywhere on the ticket means no vote from me. McCain was my last ‘hold my nose and vote’ compromise.
After the 2008 elections, Rush said that he was done carrying water for the GOP.
If he was dog catcher, you can hear the HOWLS of outrage right now.
It would have to be something like Mitt Romney / Rush Limbaugh. (Talk about an odd couple)
Rush, listen to yourself. You’ve reached the point where you have to insist you’re a conservative.
Dick Cheney stirs my pot. Not that it would happen, but I'd like to see Mitt trying to convince Cheney of anything.
Mitt and Cheney are both for the homosexual agenda.
Rush endorsed Romney in 2008, and many of us believe that he is anti-Newt and pro-Romney this time, as well.
“Rush endorsed Romney in 2008”
I must have missed that.
I despise Romney, but Rush didn’t endorse Romney in 2008. He said that the candidate who was saying the most conservative things was Romney, and he used a three-legged stool analogy. I remember listening for an actual endorsement, but it never came.
... And O'bama isn't ???
I'd still rather have Cheney in the #2 chair than Clueless Joe.
And staying home won't get it done.
Endorsing Romney was the closest to a formal endorsement that we have seen Rush make.
The difference then was that we knew that he hated McCain, didn’t think Huckabee had a chance, according to Rush, and that he liked Romney.
This time I think there is no doubt that he is not supporting Newt, and I think that it is clear that he prefers Mitt over Newt.
The thing that is undeniable, is that Rush could be as clear with Mitt and Gingrich, as he was with McCain and Romney last time.
RUSH: I think now, based on the way the campaign has shaken out, that there probably is a candidate on our side who does embody all three legs of the conservative stool, and thats Romney.
...national radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, who endorsed Romney on Tuesday

No sense in being curt with me, I’m not fantasizing of a pro-homosexual veep.
I’m not trying to find a veep for Romney at all, and no, I will not vote for a Romney ticket.
I meant to ping you to post 17.
Am pretty sure I heard Rush say something about the GOP not thinking Obama could be beat and they’re expecting Romney to not fight against O like he is against Newt.
Your statement is not making sense. Rush shows he is not supporting Newt, how?
The way he eviscerated him on Thursday before the debate, for what should be one of Newt’s strongest points, being the inheritor of the Reagan torch, and a Reagan Lt.
That infuriated me...it was in stark contrast to Mark Levin's spirited defense of Newt and trashing Romney for the brutal attacks.
Here is how a conservative stays politely neutral, yet telegraphs their insights and feelings.
Watching it. Thanks.
If it is Romney, I guess I’d have to give my last vote to the republican establishment just to get rid of Obama.
Romney might make it more palatable if he chose Ryan or Jindal or West or Cain or DeMint. But we all know it’s going to be Rubio.
What would be really funny is if Romney took Ron Paul, and then sent him to all our bases around the world just for fun.
At least we’d get the rabid youth vote Obama had last time.
We all know Romney far better this time around, and the new knowledge ain’t flattering to Romney.
But if he really, truly is a Mittster... OK Rush. Why not be his veep. It would be the only red meat in his administration.
If you think Mormons are harmless goody-goodies, read that line again to see what is under the surface.
