Family says teen didn't have to die (Yes he did.....society is better off)

It all happened last Wednesday. Prosecutors say Johnson, who was already on probation for aggravated assault, robbed two men in West Reading and was attempting to rob a third along a bike path in Cumru Township in Berks County. But the would-be victim was carrying a licensed firearm, and shot two of his attackers. Johnson was killed. A friend is now in the hospital.

Johnson's mother, Idella Hopkins George, said, "Do I believe he was justified in shooting my son? I would say no."

The family acknowledges Johnson's actions were wrong, but they question why a warning shot couldn't have been fired first.

Johnson's sister, Ashley Jones, said, "He's a kid. His actions-- I don't approve of his actions at all, but he didn't deserve to have his life taken."

In recent days a Facebook memorial page has been flooded with sometimes hateful posts -- referring to Johnson as a "thug" who died like the dog he was.

In recent days a Facebook memorial page has been flooded with sometimes hateful posts -- referring to Johnson as a "thug" who died like the dog he was. For his family, dealing with a tragedy and questions about what more they could have done, the words have been painful.

Not as painful as being beaten and robbed by this thug.

Many criminals NEVER stop until they are incarcerated...

Prosecutors say Johnson, who was already on probation for aggravated assault, robbed two men in West Reading and was attempting to rob a third...

...or eliminated

Justice is most efficiently served whenever the innocent victim can turn the tables on the criminal.

“The family acknowledges Johnson's actions were wrong, but they question why a warning shot couldn't have been fired first.”

Had I been conducting my life like this guy, there would
have been warning shots fired BY my family. Grandpa would
have put one right over my head and promised the next would
be lower if needed. (I'm only exaggerating slightly)

“It was a warning shot, lady.”

“To all his friends...”

This gets my vote for post of the day.

It was a warning shot. A warning to all the others.

You don’t know how old “the kid” is. If he were 18, the parent is not accountable. She did not “allow” her son to assault anyone. There are parents who try to bring up their kids in a good way, and try to stop their kid from doing bad things, but it doesn’t always work. The mother is only responding out of grief, the same way as any good mother would.

A warning shot? Why waste a perfectly good round?

Besides, a warning shot could potentially have hurt or killed an innocent bystander.

As I told Red in Blue state, she might have tried her best, but the kid didn’t want to listen. It’s not always bad parenting.

This made my blood boil watching that video.

I am not "happy" the dumb thug kid got killed, but that guy who was carrying was damned lucky, and I am "happy" that he wasn't hurt.

Underneath the video: "...Family remembers shooting victiim..."

Boy, did reading that irritate me. Shooting victim? SHOOTING VICTIM? If anyone was victimized here, it was the poor guy who had to use his weapon to defend himself. He was right, but it can't be easy to live with.

I was also pissed listening to his family, especially his stupid sister. Fire a warning shot? What, so the violent feral teen thugs have time to pull their own guns out and shoot him instead? They watch too much damned television.

Ma'am, sorry your son had to die. I truly am. But I would have been a heck of a lot sorrier to hear that "senior citizen" had a concussion and multiple contusions.

From the video, the “kid” was sixteen.

Dogs act on instinct.
People act on purpose.

The kid made a CHOICE, and he paid the ultimate price for his bad decision.

If I ever robbed or assaulted an innocent, my Family would disown me. There wouldn’t be any excuses or bail money coming my way, that’s for sure.

Well, there's no reason to be hateful. And so I will go on record as saying that I love that miserable, brutal, ignorant piece of human excrement who reveled in other people's pain and whose entire live was devoted to feeding off their vulnerability and making his entire world a more cruel, savage, and disgusting place to be.

I mean that in the nicest way.

Shame on you! Would your mother be “whining” if you were killed? The lady is in grief. You know nothing about her. But then your screen name says it all.

It’s not a good idea to voice intentions that could be considered premeditation on the internet. No matter how confident you are that it could never be connected with your real name, and that you will never be involved in a self-defense shooting.
