Facing Second Loss to Gingrich, Romney Went on Warpath
New York Slims ^ | 1/28/2012 | JIM RUTENBERG and JEFF ZELENY

MIAMI — Facing the unthinkable here just seven days ago — a second loss in a row to Newt Gingrich — Mitt Romney’s campaign team hatched a two-part plan to win in Florida: make Newt mad and Mitt meaner.

In a call last Sunday morning, just hours after Mr. Romney’s double-digit loss to Mr. Gingrich in the South Carolina primary, the Romney team outlined the new approach to the candidate. Put aside the more acute focus on President Obama and narrow in on Mr. Gingrich.

Find lines of attack that could goad Mr. Gingrich into angry responses and rally mainstream Republicans. Swarm Gingrich campaign events to rattle him. Have Mr. Romney drop his above-the-fray persona and carry the fight directly to his opponent, especially in two critical debates scheduled for the week.

The results of that strategy, carried out by a veteran squad of strategists and operatives assembled by Mr. Romney to deal with just this kind of moment, have been on striking display here.

No, the MSM and establishment Republicans went on the warpath. Romney did what he always does, hide in the shadows and throw bags of money to his attack dogs.

The reason that Newt is losing Florida is because of his debates. That is the reason he won SC and the reason he will lose Florida. Had he had a fantastic debate like he did in SC, he would win Florida. It is all about the debates. That has always been the reason and the reason still today.

Find lines of attack that could goad Mr. Gingrich into angry responses and rally mainstream Republicans.

By using left wing tactics to "Win at ANY Cost" Obamney has alienated and dispirited more than HALF of the Republican base and I for one will NEVER vote for a new elitist socialist over the one we already have in office now.

Congratulations Mittens! You have got me fired up to start a wright in campaign for NEWT if he loses in the primaries.

—What’s the difference between Mitt Romney and Saul Alinsky?—

I listened to NPR last night. They had a report that basically asked, “So, who IS this Saul Alinsky guy that Newt keeps mentioning?” They then went on to describe him, at length, as a good guy that was looking out for solutions to the plight of the poor.

A Gingrich presidency brings down the monied NE liberal class and the ancillary organizations that they own.

They are afraid.

Newt was hit by the Mitty Train. The engine was powered by cubic dollars and the caboose was chocked full of lies.

They stacked the last Florida debate with Romney supporters and this was done by the GOP.

I’m not about to defend Romney, but when a candidate reshapes his attack to focus on his competitors weaknesses, isn’t that part of how the game it played? I mean, if the roles were reversed, who’d be offended?

There are plenty of legitimate aspect of Romney and his policies and track record to hammer away on. But when the other team ups its game, what’s the point in whining? Just up our own game and get moving.

I haven’t read anything that said anyone felt Newt did more than a “fair” job in the last debate, and that’s on him.

They stacked the last Florida debate with Romney supporters and this was done by the GOP.

And because of that, Newt could not do well in the debate. He even said so himself. Now if he can’t handle Mitt how is he going to handle Obama?

That’s an easy one. Alinsky’s plan was for destroying your adversary, Mitten’s plan is intended to destroy your ally.

Exactly...

After his double digit loss to Newt in SC, the Rombama team’s “outlined approach” consisted of not only putting aside the focus on OBamster, but of using the exact same OBamster/Alinsky tactics and techniques, against Newt.

By using flat out lies and innuendoes, Milt and his bought off gang of Establishment RINO skunks have sunk to schemes that will backfire on all of them.

How any so-called conservative can justify these blatant lies against Newt as “strategy”, is simply inexcusable.

Excusing Milt is excusing OBamster!

Romney has just entered the same area in my view as Paul did. I can not bring myself to vote for this guy under any circumstance. Ever.
