Yep - I am not necessarily blaming Santorum per se but it is simple math. Santorum and Newt are splitting the conservative vote and Romney benefits. The RNC did not push Santorum and Newt into the race to split the vote and make it easy for Romney. Conservative candidates caused this. Can’t blame Fox News or Rush. Let’s hope Gingrich can pull off a win in spite of Florida. I haven’t given up.

For not having a lot of money, Santorum is doing fairly well. Right now he is trailing Newt by the asame amount that Newt is trailing Romney. Santorum should stay in the race if he only trails Newt by single digits. He has a shot in the upcoming primaries.
I heard something like 63 Romney ads to every 1 Gingrich.

It’s the gender gap that’s destroying Newt. I honestly believe it was the Nightline interview, but it took a surprisingly long time to propagate (through women who saw it mentioning it to other women).

There is a difference between a party that neglects your issues and a party that is openly and actively hostile towards your issues.
I’m not saying give up. Fight like cats and dogs and rabid bearcats to get the nomination for Newt and then to make him president.
But if the party elite manage to force Romney on us, I can promise you he will move to the left in the general and declare war on conservatives. He can’t afford to leave us standing if he gets in the Whitehouse, he will need allies in the House and Senate. If it is Romney, conservatism is in danger.

Well I went out to eat today as I usually do on Jan 31 which was my Mom’s birthday...
She was born 100 years ago today...
I usually think about her and what she and Dad taught me...
My Christian and Conservative values came from them..

I tried not to worry about what was happening in Florida...

That is a fact. Romney supporters will continue to be banned. Don’t look for any support for Romney EVER on Free Republic. As it should be.
If Romney is the nominee, he will lose in the general. I will vote my conscience. Your reasoning could be applied to those who vote for Romney in the primary, as a vote for Willard ultimately is a vote to return Obama to the White House.

I have been a very good Republican soldier. I’ve voted for Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain.
I do not have a romney vote in me.
There's only one small problem with the 2012 bottling of this formula. If Romney is the nominee, then Limbaugh is urging conservatives to rally around a man who is the very antithesis of conservatism. It could very well mean the end of conservative participation in the GOP. I can't speak for others, but if Romney is the nominee, I will not only actively campaign AGAINST him, but burn my Republican Party registration card. Happily.
In short, the "formula" needs to be tossed. Its expiration date has passed. It's poison.
