Fresh on the heels of announcing January fundraising numbers in excess of $4 million, Rick Santorum's presidential campaign announced a new television ad that will begin airing Tuesday in Colorado and Nevada.
The ad attacks Newt Gingrich as being too liberal for the GOP nomination by arguing that he shares many policy positions with President Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
"All three supported radical cap and trade legislation that would destroy American jobs and drive up energy costs. All three supported giving illegal aliens some form of amnesty. All three sported the government health mandates which take away our freedom and is the core of ObamaCare. And all three of these politician's supported the Wall Street bailouts that was a slap in the face to the Tea Party," the narrator says.
It goes on to refer to the trio as "cap and trade loving, bailout supporting, soft on immigration, big-government mandating politicians."
The commercial is a sharp indictment of Gingrich, with whom Santorum has split more conservative voters in early primary contests. But the ad does little to attack Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican front-runner who is expected to lead in Nevada polling.
"Rick Santorum for President: he doesn't just talk a good conservative game, he lives it," the narrator says.
Nevada will caucus Feb. 4, with Colorado voters gathering 3 days later at caucus sites across that state.

Why doesn’t he attack Mitt? Hummm. I wonder who is paying for the ads? Ricky ain’t got no money.
Santorum , Huckaby....enough trolls and tools
Well, Santorum is not the guy I thought he was.
If leaves Romney alone and distorts Gingrich’s record.
POX o all of them.
Lil’Ricky is working WAY TOO HARD to be Romney’s VP.
This a**hole must have realized going negative with TV ads is the way to win a campaign. Nevermind having your own ideas. Of course, he’s always been doing this.
I vow to fight this man with everything I got. He is a dishonorable bottom feeder.
Right before your eyes you are seeing how Mittens wins: The conservative vote is being split between Gingrich and Santorum.
I wish he wouldn’t do this. It’s not right.

Excellent quote from Dr. Sowell.
It’s been clear to me for some time that Santorum is in this thing to split the conservative vote and audition for Romney’s VP slot.
How strange to find myself hoping (if Romney gets the nomination which he probably will) Hussein wins. I would never vote for Obama obviously but I hope he beats Romney. Just to slap the GOPE down and make a point.
Very telling. Very telling indeed.
Santorum, not so much. I'm not asking Santorum to drop out before Florida, but he should have asked his supporters to help prevent Romney from winning.
Same with Ron Paul. Neither of them stood a chance at winning Florida, but they both let Romney gain this momentum. Shame on them. (And don't get me started on their supporters in Florida who couldn't see this for themselves.)
Exactly! Extremely disappointed in Santorum.
Rick has sold out to Romney
Santorum won in Iowa as the beneficiary of Romney’s scorched earth attacks on Gingrich and now he’s capitalizing on it by using the same tactics.
Enough unseemly politics.
The GOP can GTH and take Romney and Santorum with it.
GO TEA PARTY!
Santorum should save his money and use it on something he has a chance of winning, like a House seat.
Mark Levin is bashing Romney big time for his character assassination of Newt in Fla. and the percentage of negative ads, not to mention the chiding laughter mocking Gingrich after feeling he trounced him. Levin said Reagan never would have acted that way. Mark is also talking about how they made fun of Newts moon idea but Romneycare is even more of a loon idea.
