I just heard Newt’s speech after Florida and I have come to realize that Newt is going to win the GOP nomination and be the next president.
I understand that most people think that Romney is most likely, but I do not agree. First, Romney has never shown the ability to get the majority of the votes in any primary. Second, Romney’s win in Florida took place with no actual consideration of Romney’s record or ideas — Romney’s entire campaign was based on the idea that Romney is the only person who can beat Obama. His whole campaign in FL was on attacking Newt. Third, the voting numbers showed Gingrich did very well in the Fl. panhandle, which votes like southern states. This suggests that Gingrich will likely sweep the South.
Gingrich’s problems in FL were easy to fix. Gingrich got off message. Gingrich froze in the face of shock and awe from Romney’s attacks. Finally, Gingrich faced the one state that only Romney had a strong campaign organization in. The fact of the matter is that Romney had to compete in Iowa with almost everyone and lost. Romney had to compete in NH with Huntsman and won. Romney had to compete in SC with Santorum, Perry, and Gingrich and lost. FL was always too big for anyone but Romney to have a strong organization and ad campaign in. Gingrich had the momentum, but Romney had a uniquely large organization advantage for FL.
In future states Romney will continue to have an organization advantage, especially through Super Tuesday, but as the primary goes on, Romney’s advantage will drop as (1) later states even out since Romney is running a campaign like Clinton did in 2008 and his organization is strongest early, (2) as the race goes on voters will develop more solid opinions and organization will mater less, and (3) Gingrich will emerge as the alternative to Romney and will be better organized as people realize he is the only hope for conservatives in this race.
In terms of campaign focus, Gingrich is now developing a new contract with America and I expect he will use that to stay on message and contrast himself with Romney. Gingrich held a vote on all items he promised to and did what he could to pass them for the original contract. That was a promise kept for him. He will have credibility for his new contract and this will contrast him with Romney who cannot be trusted and is not conservative.
In terms of Romney’s shock and awe attacks, it is hard to see Romney get much worse. Romney’s negatives have already shot up, and it is almost impossible to think of what worse things Romney can attack Gingrich for. Romney already used several lines of attack have had blow back, and if he picked those as ‘go,’ it is hard to think he has anything left to fire with. The Romney smear campaign will need to let-up at some time or Romney will completely implode. How long can a campaign be 99.9% negative?
What it comes down to is that Gingrich is a real candidate, and Romney is a pretender. Gingrich has real conservative ideas to fix the problems we are in. Romney has talking points.

ANYONE making fun of romney’s looks when there is a newt gingrich in the equation, sounds ridiculous. Both Laura and Ann are lawyers, to think their support is based on looks is just silly.
The Romney bots were all over every thread last night. The cowards only come out when their boy wins. I battled for awhile, but finally gave up. Let them have their little victory.

Newt needs to ignore Romney altogether and focus on Obama

False. Romney can not beat Obama. “Me tooism” rarely wins. Ask President Dole, or President McCain. For instance, he has said that he will repeal Obamacare, but what will he do when Obama responds to his calls for repeal by saying “Governor Romney, our plan was modeled after yours”? In addition the media/Obama complex is planning a full frontal assault on Romney. He has no idea what’s about to hit him.
Gingrich isn’t in the mud with Romney and Santorum. But they have admitted, by using dirty ploys, that he is the ONE to beat. And in the arena of ideas, they can’t. So they sling mud and lies. I won’t vote for either of them. Ever.

Good for her if she was advocating for Newt. But she was thrilled with Santorum when he endorsed Romney in 2008. As for Newt’s looks, he might not be a matinee idol, but neither is that bland-vanilla plastic pod-person with the greasy hair and bloated face who looks like a space alien’s idea of a 50s dad. And as long as women like Coulter and Ingraham perpetuate the falsity of Willard’s “good looks”, I will continue to confront that falsity, because I get sick of the stupidity.
As for Coulter, yes, she’s a lawyer—so what? She’s also proven herself to be a hysterical idiot. She hyperventilates over first Christie and now Willard. She needs a husband.
You act as if the MSM will be nicer to Newt than towards Romney when the liberal media hates BOTH. Newt has baggage (his exit from the House, his close buddy-buddy work with Nancy Pelosi, his divorce from his wife, etc). Mittens is the lesser of two evils. If you want to be mad at anyone then you should be upset with Palin. She would be it Mitts spot if she had run. Instead she’s sitting on the sideline and yapping.
I’m absolutely convinced that Newt Gingrich is the junkyard dog we need to rip Obama a new one and send him running back to his Chicago slime pit with his tail between his legs. Newt has plenty of DC experience as Speaker, executive ability from his many enterprises, and a silver tongue that’s razor sharp! He’s fast on his feet, delivers it straight up with no hemming and hawwing, and is often witty. His work with American Solutions was very impressive and as we’ve seen recently, he is able to put into words what the vast majority of Americans really believe. His fevered brain also has plenty of ideas for making government work better for taxpayers. Is Newt pure as the driven snow? No - none of the presidential candidates are in line for sainthood. Whatever Newt’s much-touted “baggage”, it pales next to Obama’s habitual lying and outright corruption - and unlike Obama, Newt is 100% American. Newt is like Larry the Cable Guy: send him to DC and he’ll “Git ‘er done” for all of us. Junkyard dogs are not show dogs, but they’ll save your bacon! Go git ‘im, Newt! Why would anyone take a poodle to a dog fight?
Even without Florida Newt will win the nomination. The fight has just begun. Romney’s whole campaign is based on electability because he can’t speak about issues. Once the facade of Romney’s electability crumbles he’s done.
He IS the evil we're fighting. He is an elitist chosen liberal. And will govern like a liberal. Unfortunately he won't get that chance because the Dems will shred him. How can he run against Obama when he IS Obama? Vote for Obamney or Obamney? Get real.
They do hate both. At least they have a reason to hate Newt. He’s a conservative with a take no prisoners attitude. Romney’s a roll over and play dead liberal. They don’t hate Romney based on issues they hate him because they have something better in Obama.
Maybe instead of being rude, you should take a few manners classes and read up on what’s going on in the world... then you at least wouldn’t be so ignorant... just rude. It’s a start.

Russia is talking with the US and Europe on plans to create a manned research base on the moon, the head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos said Thursday.
Roscosmos is discussing the possibilities for a permanent moon base with officials from NASA and the European Space Agency, the agency’s chief, Vladimir Popovkin said.
“We don’t want man to just step on the moon,” Popovkin told Vesti FM radio station, according to the Ria Novosti news agency. “Today, we know enough about it, we know that there is water in its polar areas ... we are now discussing how to begin [the moon’s] exploration with NASA and the European Space Agency.”
He said the plan was either to set up a base on the moon or launch a station to orbit around it.
Russia also is planning to send two unmanned mission to the moon by 2020, Popovkin said.

I don’t think you are thinking about local media’s effect in each individual state. Newt’s crowds in Florida were phenomenal... on the days Willard Your Worst Nightmare was talking to 300 people in venues that could have held 1-2000, Newt was talking to 4, 5 and sometimes 6,000 people at once. And events were often held up because they had to improvise overflow rooms, and one event, they had to go from overflow room, to overflow parking lot, and set up speakers... You have to factor in the NYCity South element... plus the fact you don’t know what the airwaves were like here... 6-7 Willard Your Worst Nightmare’s ads per hour toward the last, maybe 1 Newt ad every other hour...
