Missouri primary is meaningless with no delegates awarded.

I know, it's just like so many of these goofy primary and cauci states, they go through all the hoopla, and no committed delegates result from it.

Why bother, just tell the sheeple, your vote doesn't count, we are going to do what ever we choose...screw you {but please send us your money}.

the MO primary is open, the caucus is closed!

Interesting. That takes the advantage away from Paul, I don't think that many of his caucus-crashers are Republicans. Obviously Newt is not on the ballot in the primary, but does that matter in the caucus?

Funny what happens with only one true conservative in the race.

C'mon man! If it was Newt rather than Rick, he would be polling even higher than this.

Exactly. And one word why: baggage.

Like we would know if Santorum has any? The man hasn't had anything more than shallow vetting, not by the MSM and not by his primary opponents.

Santorum is wet behind the ears and has worked to craft an image of "the better Christian." His halo shines brightly above his rosy cheeks. His Pollyanna-ish supporters are going to have their breath taken away if -- make that when -- bigger and more aggressive money starts to point out Santorum's voting record that has favored statism and intrusive government, and even more when someone discovers a skeleton or two in his closet that reveals him as no "better" a Christian than Newt.

Newt is battle-scarred, ugly, and deeply flawed -- and everybody knows it; we're walking in with our eyes wide open.

When it comes to baggage and vetting, Santorum is a sitting duck. Santorum supporters are being set up.

Santorum staying in benefits Romney, hurts Newt, and doesn’t get Santorum the nomination.

I don't know why anyone serious about the race would spend time campaigning for a straw poll?

That is like campaigning for a stupid online poll that will still get spammed by fringe nutballs.

Gingrich lost FL in every major demographic. Jewish voters, seniors, non-Cuban Hispanis, Cuban-Americans, Whites, and lost the female vote by 20 points. The baggage he carries is proving to be too heavy. His momentum will stall since the next few states are mainly Romney friendly (NV, MI, MA, PA, AZ) and money will dry. FL is a verse diverse and electorally must-win state for Republicans in the general. If Santorum picks up MO, maybe it is time to re-assess his potential as the true alternative Conservative to Gingrich.

The reason I call St.Rick a hypocrite, is becasue Santorum has pushed for legislation limiting medical malpractice, all the while his wife has been suing the Hell out of a chiropractor for permanenty damaging her back.

But ... but ... but, the Reverend James Dobson himself has deigned to pronounce Santorum the Better Christian in the race!

I'll say one thing: In the General, I'd vote for Santorum with a smile, but if Romney is the "R" in the General, my vote will go elsewhere -- write-in, independent, who knows. In a head-to-head between Romney and Obama, there is no "lesser" evil. Both are depraved, and a vote for either would be endorsing depravity.

I would MUCH rather have Newt than Santorum because Newt doesn't pretend to be morally superior to anyone. He knows and respects exactly Who he must answer to in that regard. And it ain't James Dobson.

"And one word why: baggage."

I'm sure NONE of those here who are judgemental about Newt's personal life have no "baggage", and therefore would rather see Romney-the-RINO complete the Socialist Takeover of this Country, while they sit smugly saying "I voted for Santorum"; it's not my fault.

It's YOUR children and grandchildren that lose; NOT principle.

Unfortunately, Santorum has cost Newt two States...

Newt's fundamental problem isn't Santorum, it's Romney -- or himself. If you take away the vote Santorum and Paul garnered, that leaves 80% of voters in FL -- so why couldn't Newt win the majority of those votes?

Somehow, after a great debate performance in South Carolina, and running a better campaign than he did in FL, Newt did just that -- even when Santorum took a bigger percentage than he did in FL.

Newt needs to win the majority of votes on his own, moreso by taking votes from Romney than wishing Santorum wasn't in the race.

You can't SERIOUSLY believe that an "altar boy image" can actually WIN Nationally, can you?

Newt's got personal baggage, but who that would defend individual responsibilty and freedom that can beat Obama doesn't?

That was sarcasm, Santorum was a Romney man then also.

Santorum is from the mid-west, is telegenic, has appeal to blue-collar Democrats, Evangelicals, Catholics, and can win the crucial female vote. Can’t win? Heck, all he has to do is carry the Bush states.

It seems when Newt supporters are given a choice between Romney and Santorum, a few root for Santorum but many instinctually attack Santorum.

You have to understand the Gingrich Entitlement Society mentality: All conservative votes belong to Newt. Ergo if someone votes for Rick, those votes were stolen from Newt. Newt is entitled to those votes! Gingrich shouldn't have to go out and convince voters he's the better choice. Everyone else should just get out of his way, because he's entitled!

Hope that helps.

Maybe he could get Ross Perot as his running mate, and use the Chicken Charts?

Good luck in finding a perfect candidate...

Newt Gingrich – Rhetoric vs Reality

In his own words, is Newt a Conservative or a Progressive?

Newt in his own words on video: “I always felt I came out of the Theodore Roosevelt and LaFollette progressive tradition. I am a Theodore Roosevelt Republican...The greatest leaders in fighting for an integrated America in the 20th century were in the Democratic Party...will give you my biased answer which always gets me in trouble on the right. No one is FDR...Franklin Delano Roosevelt is the greatest practitioner of self government, certainly in the 20th century and maybe in American history...the greatest liberal democratic president and the greatest president in US history is Franklin Delano Roosevelt.”

More video quotes transcribed below. Also see my comments on the debates at the end of this information.

The following information on Newt compares his rhetoric to reality and should be a lesson for all of us to look behind the rhetoric and find the truth. I am NOT sending this information out at this time to pile on Newt or because I think Romney is necessarily a better candidate. I think that most of us agree that either one of the four candidates would be a great improvement over the current president. (I do think we have one true conservative left among the GOP candidates, and plan to send out some of his best quotes in the future.) I am sending this information out because someone who had the ability to put together a number of video quotes by Newt himself that sum up the concerns I have had about Newt for a number of years as I watched politics. Anyone can watch Newt saying these things himself in this 60 minute video at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyeB36ctO5I

Not everyone has an hour to spend watching an hour video so I transcribed some quotes that to me are major problems for a conservative or Republican candidate. I mostly included quotes that you have not heard on TV. I have given the time within the video if you want to view particular sections based on the quotes below. Everything in bold black print is a quote from Newt’s own mouth on the video so you can just read his quotes without the other information to save time. The quoted parts are exact words from other speakers and other parts are explanation of the context of Newt’s quotes.

Taken from this article

“Newt Gingrich: A Crime Against Conservatism – 1 hr expose:” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyeB36ctO5I

On Global Warming and cap and trade.

12:49 minutes into the video (approximately):

Newt clearly supports global warming and the video includes the couch scene with Pelosi where he supports it.

Other quotes in Newt’s own words:

Newt: “The concept of reducing the amount of carbon emission over the next 50 years is a totally sound concept and I think...that is a prudent step to take in the right direction. I taught the 2nd Earth Day. I was a coordinator in Grandma studies -

In his book he says “Conservatives need to develop a green conservatism.”

Newt: “You [should] subsidize the development of renewables.”

Note of background information: Earth Day is the largest global environmental celebration on the planet. Earth Day has become the modern celebration of Gaia, an ancient pagan God, a Universal Mother - sacrifices of “good works” to the planet are made on Earth Day. The Earth itself - as the representative and embodiment of the Goddess - has become a modern day idol. For more information on earth day see this link: http://www.earthday.org/earth-day-2011

In an interview with one time Democratic Presidential candidate Senator John Kerry:

Kerry: What would you say to Senator Inhofe and others in the Senate to those who even resist science?

Newt: “I would say the evidence is sufficient that we should move toward the most effective possible steps to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere – and do it urgently. “

Newt also said on this video that he intervened again and again on the side of environment as Speaker.

NAFTA North American Free Trade Agreement.

15:54 minutes into video (approximately):

Newt: “I was a strong advocate, in fact I was the leading vote getter in the US House for the NAFTA North American Free Trade Agreement.”

Patrick Buchanaan says on video about NAFTA that it is about 1,000 pages long:, “A free trade agreement would take two paragraphs to write. The tariffs are gone, the quotas are gone. All these pages, what this is, is managed trade...it invades American sovereignty - treaty supersedes state laws, tri national commissions invading business with the right to fine US Government t for a fence, with fines rising. [Note of background information: Many, but not all, conservatives believe that Free Trade Agreements are just a form of distribution of wealth among the nations, a globalist view of fair trade, and the basis of outsourcing American jobs.]

Interviewer: “You gave a very good speech on bureaucracy but the “Wash Post reported “You single handedly saved Clinton’s presidency by delivering him the victory on NAFTA which creates 50 new trade and environmental and labor bureaucracies etc.”

Newt: “We were glad to have the Vice President up as our guest. I think his briefing on reinventing government was very helpful...Many things Vice President Gore is accomplishing in the Re-inventing Government program is frankly worth doing and is helpful and is going to improve the quality of American government and in lowering its cost, and we want to be aggressively in partnership.”

Gore then thanks Gingrich for helping them.

Interviewer said this on video, “House Republicans are NOT pleased with the deal the President made with Mexico.”

Health Care

23: 48 minutes into video (approximately):

Reporter: The former speaker of the House went to the US Capitol yesterday and appeared alongside Hillary Clinton...Gingrich and Hillary Clinton are working together on a bipartisan effort. (about health care)

25:08 minutes into video (approximately): picture of Newt toasting Hillary and Bill like favorite friends.

United Nations and Internationalism

26:12 into video (approximately): several comments by Newt on having an effective United Nations

“For all too long in the last 60 years, sovereignty has been a shield...”We believe unanimously it is in the US interest to have a strong and an effective United Nations.”

Newt: “I am for globalization...”

Reporter: Newt’s remarks and actions caused the economists to feature Newt and Hillary Clinton in the article entitled, “The Internationalist. “ “But he is not supposed to be an internationalist. He is supposed to be a defender of the independence of the US.”

Reporter: “If Mrs. Clinton and Gingrich as good internationalists want to keep this isolation in check, they have work to do in their own parties...on this issue .they are actually on the same side. “

Praise of Franklin Roosevelt, Progressiveness, and other Democrats

Background Note: Progressivism is an umbrella term for a political ideology advocating or favoring social, political, and economic reform or changes through the government. Progressivism is often viewed by its advocates to be in opposition to conservative ideologies.

Newt said, “We have to increase the size of the state department by 50%. “

29 minutes into video (approximately).

Newt: “I do want to pick up on the direction on what Gephardt said. Gephardt said it right. No Republican here should kid themselves about it. The greatest leaders in fighting for an integrated America in the 20th century were in the Democratic Party. It was Franklin Delano Roosevelt that gave hope to the US that was in despair and could have slid into a dictatorship. The fact is every Republican has much to learn from studying what the Democrats did right.”

Liberal Journalist: “Newt had moved too far to the center (left) I don’t think he would have won a re-election. I think he resigned because he could not win. He had sold out their principles, and in the end he was undone by his own party.”

Newt: I always felt I came out of the Theodore Roosevelt and Lafollette progressive tradition. I am a Theodore Roosevelt Republican.

Newt: The only Republican model George Bush can take is Theodore Roosevelt...If you don’t have a decade that is as reformist as the progressive era you are going to fail.

31-33 into video (approximately):

Newt: “I really am a Theodore Roosevelt Republican...I will give you my biased answer which always gets me in trouble on the right. No one is FDR...Franklin Delano Roosevelt is the greatest practitioner of self government, certainly in the 20th century and maybe in American history...the greatest liberal democratic president and the greatest president in US history is Franklin Delano Roosevelt...The most effective president in the 20th century is FDR. The greatest president of the US in history is FDR.

On Bill Clinton:

36 minutes into video (approximately):

Newt: “I am a big fan of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson.”

Interviewer: “ It was said by some that in the presence of Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton was mesmerizing to you.”

Newt: Bill Clinton, this is one of the most charming effective people I have ever negotiated with. He is very smart; he is capable of focusing on you with enormous attention.”

38 minutes into video (approximately):

Brett Humes: He [Newt] did have a checkered period as speaker...He was

nearly ousted in mutiny by his own troops in 1997 and was finally basically forced to step down in 1998.

39 minutes into video (approximately):

Glen Beck explains how Newt and other establishment candidates supported Republican Dede Scozzafava who is really no different from a Democrat and who had won the Margaret Sanger abortion candidate award. ( Background Note: See this link for an article, “Gingrich backs Margaret Sanger Award Winner” in 2009.http://michellemalkin.com/2009/10/16/calling-them-out-nrcc-rnc-gingrich-back-margaret-sanger-award-winner/)

People who supported Scozzafava’s opponent , Doug Hoffman, in this race: Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Fred Thompson, Dick Army, etc who endorsed Hoffman.

Education:

42 minutes into video (approximately):

(In 2009-2019 Newt’s education tour with Al Sharpton, and Arnie Duncan who is Obama’s Secretary of Education promoting Obama’s “Race to the Top” education plan that requires national government standards in order to receive government grants and requires even more bureaucracy and government control than did No Child Left Behind.)

Al Sharpton: “Newt Gingrich was talking education reform here in New York and he was in the mood to name drop...willing to name drop...in 2009 we teamed up to push for changes in public schools, speaking at the White House or going to schools across the country about education reform.”

“News reporter: “Secretary of Education Arnie Ernie Duncan, Al Sharpton, and Newt Gingrich on a multi city school tour talking about education reform.” [ shows videos of them together]

Newt: I agree with Al Sharpton. This is the number one civic right of the 20th century...I think the President [Obama] has shown courage during the primaries when it was difficult...I really appreciate the leadership that Al Sharpton is showing all over American.”

Al Sharpton: And for you, Newt, if you start agreeing with me about anything else I promise not to tell Republican primary voters.

(Background Note: This following quote shows Newt’s support for federal involvement in schools in 2006, requiring standards like No Child Left Behind to be tied to federal funding. This quote is not included in the video.)

Newt: “Finally, Congress should tie education funding to school accountability. The No Child Left Behind law is making it blaringly obvious just how many schools are crippling and destroying children. We should save the children. Congress should require school systems to institute metrics-based performance standards in order to receive federal funding to ensure that every child is getting the education that they deserve.” http://www.clubforgrowth.org/whitepapers/?subsec=137&id=903

Note this quote in Newt’s recent debate that is totally opposite from his stands above and actions in the past:

Question from an eight grade teacher in Hobart, Indiana for Gingrich: Has No Child Left Behind been a success or a failure? If the latter, what needs to be done to change it?

Newt Gingrich: I think it’s [NCLB} clearly a failure. I think it has led teachers to be forced into a bureaucratic system of teaching to the test. I find virtually no teacher who likes it. It is grossly disproportionate. You end up with first-generation immigrants who don’t speak very good English being tested against a national standard. And a perfectly good school looks bad even though it’s doing a great job because there’s no measurement that’s reasonable. The correct answer is to radically reduce the Department of Education, cut out all federal regulations, return the money and the power back home to the states. But I would say to the states, it will be good for them to shrink their Departments of Education and return the power back to the local county boards, and then let parents and teachers and students get back to learning. Link to the debate: http://www.cfr.org/us-election-2012/republican-debate-transcript-south-carolina-january-2012/p27077 (See the very last section of debate

Some person on the video: “Rhetorically he [Newt] is far, far right but when push comes to shove he is in the mushy middle.” [I think this is J. C. Watts speaking. ]

Newt’s communist mentors - Alvin & Dede Toffler

46 minutes into video (approximately):

Newt often referred to the Tofflers and recommended their books to Congress and the public.[Background note: Conservatives contend that Toffler’s beliefs “are rooted solidly in communism, but dressed up thoroughly in neo-con speak and sprinkled with the tiniest bit of capitalism.” September 13, 2006 China’s leading news publication, People’s Daily, has named Alvin Toffler, world renowned futurist, author and co-chairman of Toffler Associates, one of 50 foreigners who have had the greatest influence on China in recent centuries. http://www.alvintoffler.net/?fa=news_chinastop50 See video quotes below for what Toffler stands for.

Narrator: Newt & Tofflers: “ In early 70’s as an assistant professor, Newt began working with the Tofflers: “He often referred to their work during his political career and even put Toffler’s books on his required reading list for members of Congress and all Americans.”

Alvin Toffler said on this video, “We are secular, pro choice, against prayer in schools.

Alvin Toffler: “For this wisdom, above all I thank Mr. Jefferson: who helped create the system that served us so well for so long and that now must in its turn die and be replaced...we went around and asked leading experts on the family...it is not a universal and eternal form if you look at the family it is still going through and enormous and rapid change whether we are looking at gender relationships, sexual relationships...whether we are looking at the new formats that are socially approved, after the first divorce, the 2nd divorce, 3rd divorce or what have you...not just an emergence of a New America but a new way of life for civilization

Newt: We are at the edge of a whole new revolution which has been called the 3rd Wave by Alvin Toffler.

Newt: There are many pro choice Republicans and there is a lot of room in the Republican party for pro-choice Republicans.

The world is going through an enormous change, probably what Alvin Toffler called the Third Wave.

Newt: We are living in a time of very dramatic change. I would suggest to you, if you would read Alvin Toffler (Book World Future Society)

50:05 minutes into video approximately:

Newt wrote a foreword to Toffler’s book: Creating A New Civilization promoting the idea of a transformation government also known as One World Form of Government.

Serial Adultery

James Dobson Interview: I asked you if the rumors were true that you were in an affair with a woman who obviously wasn’t your wife at the same time that Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were having their affair?

Newt: Well the fact is, the honest answer is yes.

News Reporter on video: “Gingrich now admits that while he was leading the impeachment he was having an extramarital affair of his own with a congressional aid who is now his 3rd wife.”

Chris Wallace in interview with Newt: There is something else that bothers people. You were leading the charge to push Bill Clinton from office for lying about having an affair but at the very same time you were leading that charge you were having an affair. Isn’t that hypocrisy?

56 minute into video approximately:

News reporter in 1998 “Do you see any evidence where it [Clinton scandals] has made any difference in his governing? “

Newt: Sure: The lack of moral authority.

Interviewer: “How did you see you saw God’s forgiving nature in all of that? [referring to his divorces]

Newt: There is no question that in times of my life partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country that I worked too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate.

Information taken from this article at this link:

“Newt Gingrich: A Crime Against Conservatism -1 hr expose:” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyeB36ctO5I

My question: So in Newt’s own words, is he a Conservative or a Progressive?

My Comments:

Even though I have experienced real frustrations at times with the debates and possible Republican candidate, I think that through it all a great deal has been gained. Discovering the truth is always a good thing in my opinion, and personally I would like to see the debates continue for some time so more truth can be revealed. Citizens have gained a great deal of truth about politics and politicians through the debates, and hopefully the candidates are learning that they can no longer hide their real actions, words, and political decisions from the public. From the time of the first tea parties, I believe citizens have learned more about how politicians and government work at the national and state level than ever before in history.

I have no real problem with the candidates battling it out and with negative ads and bringing out the truths about their opponents; I much prefer that to political correctness and timidity. I do have real problems with dishonest ads and attacks and smear tactics. I don’t consider it a smear tactic, however, as long as the truth is being revealed. I think knowing truth is healthy and good for our nation even if it involves a little pain and disagreement for all of us. Besides, if the Republicans get this negative information out now, it will be old news when the Democrats use it. And there is nothing the Republicans have used that the Democrats wouldn’t have used anyway.

I do get frustrated when people, and especially conservatives, are so easily deceived by rhetoric and the media and allow that to supersede reality and past history. I think the most frustrating event of the debates for me has been when the conservatives allowed the media to frame (in my opinion) Herman Cain simply for accusations of adultery and then switch their support to a man based on his rhetoric in a couple of debates - a man who admitted open adultery in two marriages, one for a period of six years and who has been involved in all kinds of actions that are not at all consistent with the tea party principles - as evidenced by his own words captured on video.

I understand people love to hear someone express their own righteous anger the way Newt did, and Newt has shown brilliance in some of the debates - and I know many of us are sick of the establishment picking our candidate, i.e. Romney; but for the whole Republican party, acting in a herd like mentality, to switch to a candidate based on this rhetoric alone really concerns me. That way of making political decisions reminds me too much of how the nation has allowed Obama and the Democratic rhetoric to destroy our nation.

He has an uncanny ability, sort of like Clinton, to feel your pain and know his audience and speak to his audience and fire them up. But when he was speaker, he was erratic, undisciplined.”
