If former House Speaker Newt Gingrich continues in the Republican primaries, not only is he doing more good than harm, he may be the only candidate left who can save the Republican Party.
The Republican establishment is bound and determined that it is going to impose a Mitt Romney on us. Conservatives do not want former Gov. Mitt Romney.
You see, we have danced this dance before. We had Sen. John McCain shoved down our throats in 2008. How did that work out for us? We have George W. Bush, who barely won his races, and before that we had former Sen. Bob Dole, who blew it, and George H.W. Bush, who could not win re-election against an unknown governor from Arkansas!
We conservatives have had it.
The conservative and Tea Party bloc of the Republican Party supports Newt Gingrich.
We conservatives held our noses and voted for John McCain in 2008. That did it for us. We are not doing it in 2012. The Tea Party overwhelmingly supports Gingrich over Romney. One exit poll showed Gingrich getting 45 percent of the Tea Party vote versus 14 percent for Romney.
Gingrich is the only one in the race who has a chance of uniting the Republican Party. If Romney wins the nomination, a quarter and a half of the Tea Party voters say they will not vote him in the general election. That is a ticket to defeat.
By staying in the race, Newt holds out the possibility of saving the Republican Party...

There is a small difference between a liberal democrat and a liberal republican but they are MUCH closer to each other than either is to a Conservative.
The Tea Party overwhelmingly supports Gingrich over Romney. One exit poll showed Gingrich getting 45 percent of the Tea Party vote versus 14 percent for Romney. It can not be any plainer. If you are a Tea Party Conservative - you support Newt.
It wouldn’t be nice to say what we conservatives would like shoved down RINOmney’s throat.

If Romney wants my vote he needs to drop out of the race and endorse Newt Gingrich.
With Newt as the nominee, Pubbies keep the House & take the Senate (at worst).
All bets are off if Romney's the nominee. I would expect the Pubbies keep the House (barely), but lose the Senate.
There aren't enough Mittbots to make up for the loss of the conservative base's energy.
How about we start with the entire text of the R0mneycare legislation ...
What can we do? what would the Founding fathers do? start a new Party—start a movement—a reform movement within the GOP. Its work from within or leave the sinking ship and start a 3rd Party. I would see this 3rd Party in a new way—Not like the Old Bullmoose Party, or the Grange or Know Knothings—but a real 3rd party— Remember the Republicans were once a 3rd Party before the Civil War. We strive for a full Conservative Party. Run people for ALL offices, from statehouse to white house. Use people who may well not be in politics—sports heroes-war heroes—Actors (Conservatives only) —businessmen— and even TV people—as well as the regular folks. We have set goals and beliefs—simple ones that all can understand: Smaller Gov. Less Taxes. No Abortion. 10 amendment. The Tea Party favorites.
I have been around a long time and always pulled the R lever because I believed in the Republican values, the constitution etc.
After McCain I just felt used. Like I was a rube being manipulated by the RNC who doesn’t give a damn about me, or my family, or the constitution. I am certainly fed up. And Romney is just the standard big government enabler I have been disgusted by. Newt has conviction and Romney is definitely the country club, big government RINO.
We are on the brink of financial ruin. I am seriously worried about my family now. I am mostly interested in finance, and we will likely hit a hyper-inflationary scenario that will bankrupt all of our savings. The math is the math. We are past ever being able to pay this down. If interest rates spike it is over. We will be impoverished.
This is not the time for the “Goldman Sachs” candidate (Romney) or it is game over for the middle class American. We will be reduced to begging the government for handouts as our money will be worthless, then it is the straight path to socialist tyranny and global governance - as we will be broke, desperate, scared serfs by then.
Romnomoney cares not what Santorum’s campaign bill is sage attempts to buy off Bachmann.
...and there you have it!
Just like Obamacare: what is going to stop the Ruling Elite?
Right: no one.
Now go pay your taxes - your government is broke.

“If former House Speaker Newt Gingrich continues in the Republican primaries, not only is he doing more good than harm, he may be the only candidate left who can save the Republican Party. “
Newt Gingrich has pledged all that he is for this country and for the conservative Reagan, Tea Party movement!
Let’s get in all the way for Newt Gingrich!
I’m with this guy. NO MORE NOSE HOLDING!!! Another RINO candidate like Romney and I will not vote for them!!! PERIOD!!! I’ll vote my local ticket and congress ticket and that is it. One liberal homo loving socialist pig is the same as the other. If Romney or Oscuma wins, it is the same to me. Policies will be the same. Anti American, anti Christian, anti conservative, anti military, pro homo.
LOL! Me too.
That said, I really think there is still time to defeat Romney and keep him from becoming the nominee. For one thing, Romney is an arrogant [fill in the blanks] and he has been looking really ugly as he sneers and gloats. He’s just like Obama in that respect, and I think his own behavior is going to have an equally negative impact on his popularity in the weeks going forward.
The question will be whether or not the press will cover it and show him as he really is.
I’m no big fan of the Mittster. But next November when the choice is between Mitt and the Zero who will they be voting for?
Can you tell I am on my cell keyboard again? Sorry about that.
“sage” - “as he”
Well my slogan is
“better a Mormon than a Muzzie”
For a write-in candidate of choice OR for a third party with acceptable principles. That would be the Constitution Party.
I will NEVER vote for Mitt Romney.
I've made the pledge.
Rick Santorum must drop out. He has no shot, and his continued campaigning will only serve to get Mittens the nomination by splitting the Conservative vote.
He must see this by now. If he does not, then he is either 1.) Too willfully blind to see the plain truth, or 2.) On the extensive Romney payroll.
“But next November when the choice is between Mitt and the Zero who will they be voting for?”
Easy....Sarah Palin!
It's safe to say darn near all of us feel the same way.
Despite the way the media tried to manipulate our interpretation, I totally connected with Reagan and what he had to say, and eventually understood what the MSM was doing. Never thought at the time that someday, I would discover the GOP-e does the much of the same. Started cluing in during the last POTUS election. It's more than obvious this election cycle.
The GOP-e can pound sand...
Correct. I am a Tea Partier. I have been to many rallies. I have donated and campaigned for Tea Party Candidates.
I support Newt 100% in his campaign to defeat the Statist Mitt, and later the Marxist Obama.

Comments about a third party are spot on.
Any political organization that tosses 40-60 percent of its constituents aside is asking for division. Furthermore, it is the more conservative group that leaves the more liberal bunch almost every time. Economic disaster is usually a hugely effective catalyst for change.
I fearlessly predict the Pubs are finished this time around if they ignore the conservatives. Sort of like the Whig Party in the U.S. and the Liberal Party in the U.K. They may stay around for a while in some form or fashion, but they will no longer function as a viable governing alternative.
I think romney is as bad as 0 if not worse. If the GOPe thinks they can buy the nomination for their candidate, they deserve to lose. The power is with we the people, and damn them for trying to corrupt that. I will not vote for romney, that lying permasmile may be the devil himself rino bassturd.
You ask what will happen in November with Romney as the nominee. I suspect many of the Gingrich/Santorum supporters will not pull the lever for Romney. Of course, the Paul cultists will not pull the lever for any of the others in numbers. This will be enough to reelect Obama, as well as likely cost us the Senate and perhaps the House.
The way the near term schedule stacks up, it is best if both Paul and Santorum remain in. Next Tuesday, only Santorum and Romney are on the ballot in Missouri. If only Romney remains, he gets all those delegates. In the Virginia primary, it is Romney and Paul. The alternatives to Romney really hurt themselves on some of their organizing attempts. Every delegate counts.
Floriduh is so infected with Northern liberalism that the state endorsed the slithering liberal Rominy. BUT not one other Southern state will give their delegates to the lying two-faced liberal. Moral of the events? ... Ignore the corrupted media and know that Milt is as high as he will get. From today, his is all down hill to an also ran. Just remember, when Milt smiles as he lies to you, there’s a commercial being run nation wide for him ... ‘and I’m a Mormon.’ Get it?
Since at this point it seems Gingrich is the only one left who has a chance to stop Romney, I’ve decided to support Gingrich. However, I’m going into it with my eyes wide open and not with some blind devotion to, nor blind faith in Newt. He is a flawed candidate and I don’t fully trust him either.
Good post.....
At least, for the first time in a long time, our primary vote in Tennessee matters. They have been unable to anoint their establishment candidate using the early primaries.
Bravo! Excellent post.
IF THE REPUBLICANS NOMINATE MITT ROMNEY, THEY HAVE NO ONE BUT THEMSELVES TO BLAME FOR THEIR LOSS.
I hope they're listening, but I rather doubt it.
Our country goes down with either romney or obama. They both don't know what it takes to get us back...
They both are liberals....one is just more radical than the other.
Hey...that's a great line to print on all the GOP-E donation requests I get :)
True, but if we nominate Newt (or somebody else) who do we blame when we lose?
You hit it. Conservatives have kissed just about every frog in the pond. Newt is the latest fling. My love in still Palin.
Newt's election problem is will he raise enough free $peech to counter Romney's e$tablisment free $peech. The one who $pend$ the most free $peech buying microsphone$ usually win$.
CONGRESS & SENATE VOTES ONLY NO ROMNEY!!!!!!!
they have ignored us and they live in their elitist pro homosexual pro cross dressing, establishment, cocktail party circles, add some talk show hosts too and FOX.
It is high time they started to read sites like this and then understand why the base and conservatives are pissed off and why many of us will not support or vote for Romney after the way he has conducted himself.
I forced myself to read the entire article.
Interestingly enough, the reporter gets it. By Newt Gingrich staying in and winning some primaries, he just might save the Grand Old Party from a severe split or the formation of a third party were Romney to become the early nominee.
GO NEWT!
GO TEA PARTY!
STOP ROMNEY!
Jim,
Sorry, but i gotta tell ya something... If people do not get to the polls and vote, mcromney is gonna win it... if it goes to a brokered convention, the party bigwigs will make sure mcromney wins it... the only way to get mcromney out of this is at the ballot box... and there are plenty of people ( including a number of so called freepers ) creating an aura of “voter apathy” in other words, do not even bother to vote, because my guy will win.... along with other tactics.... newt lost florida, and there are over 2 million reasons why... over 2 million registed republicans did not even bother to go and vote... THIS is what mcromney is counting on, THIS is mcromneys tactic..
You should not have felt used about McCain we all were voting for
Sarah NOT McCain plain and simple. This time I do NOT care who the
hell they put on the ticket. NO ROMNEY NO WAY!!!!!!!
Fine with me.
Personally I think there will be a Tea Party challenger on the ballot in most red states anyway if Willard is the R candidate.
Then Baraq wins with a Clintonian plurality similar to 92.
I remember back in 2007 a very smart guy told me theres no way Americans are gonna elect a guy named Hussein as POTUS.
And amazingly it looks like were going to do it twice, even after Baraq has totally failed at the economy which is usually THE predictor of elections.
Baraqs going to retire in 2017 like an undefeated champion boxer who never fought anyone with a winning record.
Great column. It seems we have much more to lose if we hold our noses because it just reinforces their underhanded tactics as it sens the message we will allow the left to hi-jack our party year after year, decade after decade.
I pledge my vote and my sacred honor to the conservative in the 2012 race - even if nobody has ever heard of him or her.
I’d like to see a massive write in effort for “Say no to magic underwear!” just to embarrass Romney.
I thought it was some sort of code, but I couldn't crack it.
Lol!
