The Newt Gingrich campaign is gearing up to challenge the results of the Florida Republican presidential primary based on the Republican National Committee's own rules which state that no contest can be winner-take-all prior to April 1, 2012.
It was assumed that Mitt Romney, who won Tuesday's contest, would gain all 50 of the state's delegates. But the Gingrich campaign plans to challenge Florida's allocation and demand the delegates be divvied up proportionally.
Fox News has learned exclusively that on Thursday, a Florida Gingrich campaign official will begin the process of trying to have the RNC rules enforced so that the Sunshine State delegates are distributed based on the percentage of the vote each candidate got.
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus warned Florida Republican Party Chairman Lenny Curry of the violation in a December letter quoting the rule, "...'winner-take-all' states cannot hold a primary or caucus before April 1, 2012.

Excellent! Beat them at their own game!
Well, rules are rules.
So the GOP establishment seem to be hoisted by their own petard.
Glad you posted this - I heard it on Fox a while ago.
Smart move on the part of Gingrich. He is no fool. Rules are rules...take that Mitt! I am shocked that Coulter, Rove and Fox News was not aware of this...hee hee. That means Newt still wins SC because they werent winner take all?

America loves a winner and hates a loser
Sore losers are abhorrent to all Americans.
Newt should not cry about spilled milk.
Get on with it and win the next one.
That’s my advice to Newt.
GREAT! GO NEWT, Play the establishment by their own Game!
Been watching this on twitter
"...no contest can be winner-take-all prior to April 1, 2012"
ALRIGHT!!!!
Spilled milk? You mean you agree with the Establishment to set rules and change them at will for their own guy?
And call it “spilled milk?” for Gingrich.
your logic escapes me...
“Sore losers are abhorrent to all Americans.”
The political parties have rules and they must be followed. If the rules mean nothing, then just go have a fist fight and declare the winnner the candidate.
He should just let Mitt have all the delegates, against the RNC rules? Why bother running if you're just going to give your wins to the other guy?
Americans also hate cheaters.
Gingrich won 23 of the 25 delegates in SC.
Gingrich, the former House speaker, has won at least 23 delegates of the 25 delegates at stake. Gingrich and Romney were still battling for the final two delegates.
So do you think Republicans shouldn’t complain about Dem voter fraud? Would that make us sore losers?
America may hate a sore loser, but it hates the unfair application of rules even more.
This isn’t about being a sore loser. It’s about making sure the playing field is level and not rigged by the party establishment.
