LAS VEGAS (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul outlined his views on immigration Wednesday, saying he favors a compassionate policy that doesn't rely on "barbed-wire fences and guns on our border."

Paul also said he was against laws that require immigrants to carry proof of legal status. He says he doesn't want to live in a country where people are required to carry identity papers.Isn't it already federal law lawful immigrants are required to carry their documents ?

So much for the claim that Ron Paul is “incorruptible.” He speaks to a group of Hispanics, and suddenly his opposition to illegal immigration is only theoretical. He doesn’t want to deport them or punish them. The best he can say is that every consideration should be made for them going home but he realizes that they are all here to pursue the American dream.

What a coincidence that his views match those of his audience exactly.

It's already federal law that real immigrants have to carry official identification. Fake non-immigrants who slip in illegally are not subject to these laws.

The 90% of the illegals who come from Mexico are no more than a three day drive to their own homes.

Try this: It is racist to assume that being sent back to Mexico is a punishment. It's one of the better countries in the world to live.

Doesn’t say much for a country when the primary goal of essentially all its citizens is to GTFO.

Gee for once I agree with RP, In addition th guns and wire we should have antipersonnel mines (LOT'S of them), search lights, quick response teams, attack helis and so on.. just my opinion of course. F.. k RP!

I would disagree.
There is nothing compassionate with alterPaul.
He is a fraud, it is that simple.
His 30 second sound bites are fantastic but when you start actually listening to every thing he says and has written he is dangerous.
I know many people who support him, they are kind and gentle people, if you present them with facts and do not tell them these are things that alterPaul has said they are mortified. When you inform them these are alterPaul’s words they deny it.
He needs to go away, preferably to the democrat party, he would be way more comfortable there.
