Newt Gingrich’s Nevada campaign appears in disarray
Washington Post ^ | 2/1/2012 | Amy Gardner

Posted on 02/02/2012 6:25:49 AM PST by DM1

Things haven't gotten much better for Newt Gingrich .....

The former House speaker abruptly canceled a meeting with Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval ... Not even Gingrich's campaign advisers know why the campaign scheduler called it off, irking them and those in Sandoval's office who had helped set up the event.

.....

Other signs of disarray appeared Wednesday. Gingrich's schedule called for a 1 p.m. rally in Reno, but volunteers put out word that the event would be at noon — and that supporters should show up at 11:30. .....

PRobably not the best news for Newt. He really is going to have to get the campaign apparatus to run a heck of a lot better if he is going to have any shot at this thing

Ha I wish I worked for a campaign! You can say what you want but Newt has to get a better organisation in place or he will get nowhere. You can keep putting your head in the sand and pretend everything is swell but facts are facts. He doesnt tell his own campaign what his plans are cancels events and miffs off the locals
yeah you can win with that strategem sure thing

Trumps endorsement suddenly going to make Newt the Nevada frontrunner? Trump going to run the campaign now and straighten the ship? Please tell me how this corrects the campaign missteps.

Yes he has gobs of it
did he commit any with the endorsement? Adelsons 10 million didnt win Gingrich Florida with Newt babbling about Moon Colonies. the campaign needs to focus and organize. Money would obviously help but mostly if it went to the actual campaign for this purpose and not the Super Pacs which cannot coordinate with campaigns (at least officially) the most Trump could donate tothe actual campaign is something like 2,500
think that would be enough?
sorry this endorsement only gets you so far. he will need a heck of a lot more money in the actual campaign, focus like a laser beam and stay on message to right this ship. he has a real opportunity with Mitt saying he doesnt care about the poor. we shall see if Newt can capatilise on it.

Hey Jackass.

I’m calling you out.

All anyone need do is review your posting history and while you attempt to sorta act like you are a Santorum bot or you are above it all you often post about the “Not Romney” bunch like we are uninformed and ineffective...and irrelevant to the big pisture

and you are in New Hampshire or so you say...

your entire posting history is critical of Newt or equating him with his missteps as though he is no better than Romney

and folks here call you on it over and over and you parse it and keep going

yet every single time you get a chance you stir it up against Newt and never never ever criticize Romney ...and I am hardly the first to call you on this

I think you are yet another Northeastern What Culture War sort and No, to answer your question on another thread...Florida is really not much of a southern state any more because ambivalent at best folks like you and liberal at worst folks from where you dwell have streamed in since WWII destroying once solid demographics.

If I were the mods enforcing an anti Romney rule here I would look at you close. There is just too much posting from you steady criticizing and trying to demoralize support here for our closest challenger to Romney.

all the while nary a peep from you negative about Romney.

You are a dyed in the wool “Newt is not very Electable’ sort and have said so on this forum and you pop up with every single post on your history either criticizing Newt or giving tepid assurances you actually like the guy while you point out his every flaw

yet not a peep negative on Willard...when there is plenty

I think you are a Romney supporter trying to cover yourself and stir up crap here and demoralize folks

and when challenged you claim we are too “emotional” because we have confronted you

I agree....I think you are not here doing what you do by accident at this time...over and over daily

Yeah i know consider the source
if it is true then hopefully whatever is happening in his campaign gets corrected.
if he can make it to super tuesday he may be able to win some southern states and get back in the game. unfortunately this month doesnt look too friendly for him with the exception of Arizona most of it is “Mitt-Friendly” turf.
of course he may be able to turn Mitt’s dont care about the poor into something
time will tell with that i guess

“Mitt-“I’m not concerned about the very poor”-Romney.”

to be honest that is probably the best thing to happen to the Newt (or Santorum) campaign. If one of them can get some traction on that statement it may propel, well most likely Newt at this stage, toward the nomination. Of course if Mitt does become the nominee that statement plays right into B.O.’s hands completely. Still Newt will need more money and a better campaign to get there. Can it happen? we will just have to see

You're full of crap Mittbot.

All anyone need do here is review your posting history.

Bash Newt and say jack about Romney except that he's more electable than Newt in the general.

Were I in power here your ass would be on a fast train back to Concord.

You ain't nothing but trouble for a forum dedicated to stopping Mitt Romney.

I looked at two pages of your posting history

99% bashing Newt or equating his flaws with Romney or Santorum and saying he is unelectable in the general

but as usual when challenged you resort to the old “well, yea Romney has flaws too”

but that is the only time you take a break here from Newt bashing...to defend yourself from it

Why would anybody have to say anything bad about Romney here? There are absolutely NO threads, NO comments, and NO discussion here that is ever good about Romney. The entire site is geared to fighting Romney. There are 20 threads right now just about Romney saying that poor people got enough already from the taxpayers, do we need another 20?

This isn’t even one of those threads where the focus of the article is on attacking Newt’s personality or character. It seems (unless you have evidence that the facts are incorrect) to just be reporting facts about the Nevada campaign.

Instead of attacking the messenger, why not use the thread to get Nevada Freepers to volunteer for Newt? There was a thread a couple of days ago, pinned to the sidebar, recruiting help for Nevada. Reports of campaign issues can either demoralize you, or call you to action. Your response suggests a demoralization that you want to stop — but if we have reached that stage, Newt is in trouble.

That’s one thing that is really hurting Santorum. Romney of course has the entire GOP mainstream feeding him money, PLUS he has some well-financed superpacs.

And GIngrich, while not having great fundraising on his own, at least has a couple of SuperPacs on his own, including the one funded by the guy from Nevada.

Santorum doesn’t appear to have any PACs working for him. He’s got the “evangelical endorsement” from January, but they don’t have a PAC that I can find. Does he have any 3rd party groups running ads for him now? I think there was something in Iowa, but I’m not sure.

The Reno rally was likely torpedoed by Sharron Angle’s stunning endorsement of Rick Santorum, who now has a legitimate shot at 2nd in Nevada (Mitt is guaranteed 1st because of having Mormon turnout)

It actually sounds to me like the Gingrich campaign notified folks ahead of time of last minute changes.

That appears very efficient to me, and it is something that happens to everyone.

In a fast moving environment, and with the breaking news that Florida is not eligible to be a “winner-take-all” state, then I’d say that this is not unusual at all.

The KEY is that they notified early rather than after-the-fact.

You are a formidable wordsmith. The last time Romney ran for president, you were at the forefront, excusing and defending absolutely everything the man has ever done.

I can’t help but wonder if you are gearing up for a repeat, of course you would have to be carful this time around because this forum is now “Newt country”.

As for your question, “Why would anybody have to say anything bad about Romney here?”, well it’s easy....... Romney must be stopped at all cost.

If Romney wins the nomination because we settled for Newt who couldn’t win, you won’t be able to blame me for it.

SOmetime I’m going to have to correct the misrepresentation of my time here in 2007-2008. It has been overblown — but I don’t feel like arguing the point until the contest is over.

my point about saying bad things about ROmney was ill-spoken; I meant why should EVERY person have to do so all the time. I think I made it clear that there are ample posts detailing the issues with Romney, and since nobody is arguing against them, why do some keep complaining that a particular freeper isn’t posting enough bad comments?

I don’t post bad comments about Al Sharpton, but it doesn’t mean I like him. Heck, I don’t post much bad about Obama, because it seems that field is covered well.

this same bunch of which two are well represented here have been anti Newt from the getgo

they harp on the same talking points as FOX NEWS

and they won’t truly commit what they stand for besides nitpicking Newt to death and posting threads negative to Newt over and over

and when Mitt does get the nod due mostly to folks like them who share his lack of social conservatism they will be the first to say we all need to pony up and now and concentrate on Obama and rally round the flag blah blah blah

I have been doing that for less than desirable GOP nominations from 1988 on and I am done.

Not any more.

I will support them in statewide but if they nominate someone as liberal as Romney I will not vote nor support him

We have never won with someone this liberal and he has almost the same baggage as Obama...no Bill Ayers or Wright but his track record is very liberal

I assume that poster kept it up somewhere else.

There are people here who will be just fine with Romney..like Coulter or Laura or Chuck.

They are usually more careful about it.

However imperfect Newt is the only chance. Santorum polls at less than half Newt does and has since Iowa and why Rick is still in could be troubling.

PA is a swing state...but dang...he lost it himself just 5 years ago?

this is my most depressing time ever in my adult life politically

a poorly run nation with a near depression economy

95% of all so called conservatism and GOP have been proven to be cowards or outright liars and fakirs...way out of sync with the general population where the voters are at least 55% anti Mitt in the primary electorate

at least after Carter’s debacle we had Magnus to look forward to.

it is a veritable mess ...the establishment GOP and their media, print and radio pals are going to be in for a rude awakening come poll time after the election

and mark my words...they will blame us for rejecting the sorry candidate they forced on us through tricks, lies and not sticking to their so called principles at all

“There are people here who will be just fine with Romney..like Coulter or Laura or Chuck.”

By “Chuck”, do you mean Kraut???

The wimmen...they trouble me. In 2008, Laura promoed Romney more than anyone I can remember. She’s a bit closeted this time, but not enough given her history.

“and mark my words...they will blame us for rejecting the sorry candidate they forced on us through tricks, lies and not sticking to their so called principles at all”

Yes...they will. They absolutely will.

Then, we revolt, and start a party who will listen to us “little” people. You know....those conservatives who vote? Those who held their nose and voted for McCain? Or, in my case, voted for Palin?

You just watch. If Romney is the nominee, he will select the most conservative woman to be his Veep.

In my case, it won’t work this time.
