Exit Newt - Nation needs a normal leader, not another narcissist (will ya settle for a zot?)
The Washington Times ^ | February 1, 2012 | R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr.

Posted on 02/02/2012 7:25:49 AM PST by Samson0254

Ah, yes, Newt Gingrich did in the last days before the Florida primary precisely what I predicted he would do. He hurled wild charges at Mitt Romney that suggested Newt was losing his grip. He charged Mr. Romney with lying and falling into the hands of George Soros and Goldman Sachs, and he did this while seeking the Republican presidential nomination.

Newt quoted Mr. Soros as saying, “We think either Obama or Romney’s fine, but Gingrich, he would change things.” Citing Goldman Sachs‘ profiting from the bailout, he linked the Wall Street firm to anti-Gingrich ads, filling in the dots: “Those ads,” he averred, “are your money recycled to attack me.” On Sunday, he suggested that Rick Santorum drop out of the race and support him. Mr. Santorum had left the campaign trail to be with his desperately ill daughter. That is the kind of grace we have come to expect from Mr. Gingrich, who, by the way, supplied no evidence of Goldman Sachs‘ or Mr. Soros‘ aiding Mr. Romney.

Newt lost support in his last week in Florida because conservatives gave him a closer look. Sure, we loved his one-liners singeing the tail feathers off the liberal media and politicians. Yet we have to put someone up against President Obama who can win. Moreover, we have to put someone in the White House who can govern. With Newt, we would be explaining his gyrations every few days during the campaign. And in the unlikely event that he should win, we would be spending the next four years apologizing for his extravagance. I did it once before in the 1990s, and I can tell you it was a thankless task.

Idiot writer. We need a leader with ability and vision and leadership - not Mitt and not Rick or Ron.

The mess we have now is too bad to throw into the lap of amateurs.

I lay claim to the same prediction and predict that if the nation is so doomed as to have Newt as the GOP candidiate he will do even more damage to himslef in an even more spectacular fashion once obama and pelosi and the MSM start in on him.

Does R. Emmett Tarantula really think Romney can win? This is the idiot who hired David Brock to sort through kkklinton's underwear with disastrous results.

As Tyrrel is the one who gave Brock his start, I don't think his judgement is very good.

p.s. Even if I dislike Pat Buchanan, unlike him with the Jews, I can recognize useful causes and useful advice. When Pat Buchanan said not to go down that road that Tyrell and Brock went down with Clinton, Pat was absolutely right!

Sounds like sour grapes!! Did Newt ask for his proxy apologies?

I’m going to credit Jim Quinn, but I totally buy into this:

The GOP would rather not win the WH. If they do, fine, but they’d rather not. What they want is to gain the Senate, and keep the House. That way, they can control the purse strings, and enrich themselves and their benefactors, and have the benefit of keeping Obamacare with the cover of President Obama being the scapegoat.

Yes, the benefit of Obamacare. The GOP is just as much about big government as the Democrats. It’s their core business.

While I think anyone would be better than Obama, at this point, I don’t think they’d be a lot better. Newt is a loose cannon, and Romney is Obama-lite.

Of course it was OK that Mitt slammed Newt with about $17 million in smear ads. Nothing wrong with Willard.

Showing your true colors as a RomneyBot I see, hiding behind that predictable “oh I’ll vote for anybody against 0bama” and although it may be a waste of time explaining it to you, if 0bama is re-elected, America continues to have the bottle labeled ‘socialism’ poured down our throat.

If Romney is elected, that very same toxic poison will be forced down our throat, but via exquisite crystal goblets, as befitting a liberal Governor of Massachusetts.

Take your not-so-subtle Romney plugging and stuff it.

This is a very nuanced and contextually twisted hit piece on Gingrich. In other words, it is blatantly dishonest.

The author mistakes visionary with narcissistic.
obozo is narcissistic.
Gingrich is visionary but of course to people who have no vision such as this author, they can’t see anything beyond 2 inches.
Romney is obama in white skin.

“Newt lost support in his last week in Florida because conservatives gave him a closer look”

Gingrich won the conservative vote. Willard won the Yankee liberal vote.

The liar doing the attacking and smearing was Willard the liberal. In one sentence along, the studdering, stammering Williard use the word “he resigned in DISGRACE” three different times. He sounded like a broken record. The chickenshyt baztard had 18 primaries to talk trash about Gingrich and start spewing the lies, but didn’t do it because he knew it was a lie. After being handed him his ass in SC (after he once again outspent Gingrich on negative ads), his handlers told him to go negative or he would lose Florida. He read their talking points well, and no matter what the subject was the loudhard would say over and “uh, uh, ah, ah, the speaker resigned in DISGRACE”. The liberal should challenge Obama for the democratic nomination. He’s destroying what’s left of the GOP. He has no message. His campaign is one of personal distruction against anyone that stands in his way of buying the nomination.

A person’s response to contrary views can be very enlightening. I simply posted an article written by a pundit who criticizes Gingrich. You respond with “RomneyBot” and “stuff it.” I’m tempted to respond on the same level by saying “nanny nanny boo boo” or “I know you are but what am I.” Instead, I’ll simply note that with supporters like you, Gingrich doesn’t need anyone like Emmett Tyrell criticizing him.

If Santorum wins Missouri, as the polls now suggest, this will be a brand new race.

'Samson', you made all of six posts for 2011, three for 2010, five for 2009, and five for 2008. You're a drive-by sleeper troll, and the 'article' you posted isn't 'critical' of Newt Gingrich, it is a hit-piece. And your past sneering comment about Barry Goldwater tells me all I need to know about your so-called 'conservatism'.

You need zotting.

Jim? This is the clown sniping at Newt I was telling you about.

I understand the theory, but what is missing is that if Obama is re-elected his entrenched Marxist Administration is unhindered from implementing its agenda of destroying America.

Even with a GOP led House and Senate, I do not have faith that the Republicans will take on Obama head on. The only course will be impeachment, arrest of his Cabinet members and a possible military coup to stop the madness.

At least Newt will bring in a different Administration.

Santorum will be eaten alive by the entrenched powers in DC. Newt already knows them and how they operate. He took on Clinton, and that was no easy task. Romney just goes along to get along. Ron Paul is a Fruit Loop—and he has been part of the problem for 33 years. He can take his, preaching about change and liberty and stick it where the sun don’t shine.
