Tracy Morgan Worth Reported $18 Million, But Won't Help Mother Stop Foreclosure of Home?
National Ledger ^ | 2/2/2012 | Tina Johnson

Posted on 02/02/2012 10:20:49 AM PST by SoFloFreeper

Is Tracy Morgan really worth $18 million? That's one estimate reported and despite his wealth, he appears to hold enough of a grudge against his own mother that he won't help her stave off foreclosure on her modest home.

The bank is threatening to foreclose on her Ohio home if the mother doesn't make a payment, plus her utilities are also getting ready to be turned off and she has reached the maximum for her unemployment checks.

"My mom's house isn't extravagant, but it's her home, Her health is failing. She has diabetes and her legs are giving out on her," Tracy's sister Asia says.

"She has a son that can do and she's done everything that she could possibly could [sic] for her family."

According to ABC News, Morgan, 43, was firing back Wednesday night.

"I am saddened that these untrue stories about me have people questioning my commitment to my family," he said in a statement to ABCNews.com. "For reasons that are between us, I have not seen my mother in 11 years and outside of a random call here and there have had little to no contact with my sister."

"We all have personal family issues that we have to deal with in life, but I choose to deal with mine in private and not through the media," the statement concluded.

Tracy was in the news recently because of his own health scare.

He collapsed at the Sundance Film Festival.

The 43-year-old actor was rushed to the Park City Medical Center in Park City, Utah after he passed out following an awards ceremony last week.

Ron Nyswaner - the co-director of Tracy's new movie 'Predisposed - blamed a combination of altitude sickness and complications with the actor's diabetes for the collapse.

He explained: "[It was] altitude sickness combined with his diabetes. And he hadn't eaten. He hadn't had enough water".

It had been reported that the recovering alcoholic seemed out of control at dinner, where he is said to have been shouting and falling over but a spokeswoman for the hospital said no drugs or alcohol were found in his system.

I respect his decision. It’s his own, and he shouldn’t be bullied into it. Mom’s are overrated in general. Certainly, the family court system is biased toward them. We are all accountable on an individual basis. Morgan’s reasons are his own.

Perhaps I am wrong the Mother may be a lot like Obama’s mother and run out on the kid to pursue her studies about Indo-nesians.

-—I don’t know the guy,but he sure sounds like a POS to me.-—

That was my initial reaction until I remembered a co-worker who told me how his mother had abused him.

If this case is similar, I could at least understand his actions.

I agree with you. We don't know what his home situation was like and just because he makes more money doesn't mean he should be paying anyone else's bills.

As far as his own health issues, I have read that someone having a diabetic issue can appear to be drunk.

It’s Tracy Morgan’s money, he can do as he wishes. For the short term, it’s still a nominally free country. I don’t know the situation between Mr. Morgan and his family, so I’ll leave it at that.

As for the writer of this tripe:

” ... plus her utilities are also getting ready to be turned off ... “

Really? The utilities servicing this woman’s home, prepare themselves in some way for a discontinuation of service? Perhaps if the writer’s first language was English, rather than Ebonics, this kind of writing wouldn’t be published, (I know it’s the internet).

It’s a shame what passes for a writer these days.

If I had $18M I would help my mother/father if they needed it...There are however plenty of close relatives, that I wouldn’t give a penny to, even to have a life-saving operation ...even if I had billions in the bank...of course that would lead to a big fight with my wife who has a bigger heart than I.

Yes, diabetics CAN appear drunk. My father’s sugar dropped once at a restaurant and he was stumbling and slurring his words, looking ready to pass out. The waitress almost called the police and I told her they were taking too long with his food! After giving him some sweet tea (which he couldn’t even hold, I had to hold it) he came out of it and the waitress brought the manager over and comped our meal.

I’m agree with you. This is his mother, now matter how wretched a mother she is. My relationship with my mother was pretty destructive at times, so I can understand his desire to keep his distance. But still, he should be a better son than she was a mother. He should help her but keep her at arm’s length.

I hope he’s not from NJ because NJ has a law that children are responsible for their elderly parents, even if a parent sexually assaults his child and goes to jail for it. I believe a number of states hav similar laws.

He should prob’ly help his mother even if he is PO’d at her but I agree, it is personal and he should handle it privately, not in the press.

It would seem his sister took this spat public, if so...she’s a turd. What is she doing to help mom? Or she she living there with mom—waiting for her brother to ‘fix it’?

Some families are the pits, makes me think about that movie- Million Dollar Baby.

Agreed - I knew a few people I would love to help but some I wouldn't spit on if they were on fire.

I realize some here might initially think Tracy Morgan is being a jerk for not helping his own Mother, but isn't that the same thinking that liberals have about the rich being responsible for paying for the "have nots"?

Your right, we don't know what kind of a childhood he had, but judged by his mouth, he sure is not a lovely person. There are mothers out there that leave much to be desired as far as being a mother..

I have somegrandchildren who's mother is a nut case and she got the kids in the divorce. The kids leave as soon as possible, one choosing to move in with his father and the brother is looking for an apartment near his school as he is a senior and wants to graduate. Same mother threw him out and father lives too far for the school for the child to live with him. He's looking for an apartment for him and will help with rent as the boy is working but of course doesn't make enough to pay his bills at 17.

A beach for a mother is a good reason to stay away from her for ones own mental health..

The article indicated the rift occurred 11 years ago. That was right in the middle of his SNL career, when he was gaining fame and money.

This is all speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if mom and sister did something related to Morgan's fame and rising fortune right about then. I think this is less about "my mommy was mean to me when I was a kid", and more "my mother and sister are greedy b****es who nearly bankrupted me".

I don’t know how it works there, but here in Texas if you don’t pay your bill on time, they send you a pretty red one with a new deadline and if you don’t pay that, that is the day they will come and turn off your electricity.

I moved out of my parent’s house when I was a teenager and actually got one or two of those red envelopes :)

Exactly, but I suppose he is not a Christian or he would know this. I don't care what my parents could have done so bad that I would CARRY a hate around for life.

Hate is destruction to self, and the other person don't know you hate them nor do they care. Hate just leads to a miserable existance.

Honor they father and mother, it is a command, but of course the greatest commandment is LOVE, that covers all commandments.

It is possible to lose motherhood status.

Is a mother a mere breeder? That’s what a lot of gays call them, with contempt. Animals breed. The physical birthing of a child is indisputably precious, but that alone does not make a mother. A mother’s love makes a mother.

But when a mother turns against a child, when a mother uses her motherhood to harm her child, when a mother turns to hatred against her child, she is no longer a mother.

Those who cannot conceive of this have no say in such matters. And to look at someone who refuses to allow themselves to be hurt anymore by a mother who has turned to hatred, and call them bitter and hateful, is ignorant at best.

Motherhood and Fatherhood go both ways - they are deserving of love and respect because of the immense love and respect they give.

But that does not hold for parents who become feral. To those goes the judegement: “I know you not.” For there is no greated crime than to use the vast God-given powers of a parent to harm a child. Such vile creatures not only no longer deserve to be called mothers or fathers - they do not deserve to be called human.

And the Fifth Commandment does NOT apply to them.
