Tracy Morgan Worth Reported $18 Million, But Won't Help Mother Stop Foreclosure of Home?
National Ledger ^ | 2/2/2012 | Tina Johnson

Is Tracy Morgan really worth $18 million? That's one estimate reported and despite his wealth, he appears to hold enough of a grudge against his own mother that he won't help her stave off foreclosure on her modest home.

The bank is threatening to foreclose on her Ohio home if the mother doesn't make a payment, plus her utilities are also getting ready to be turned off and she has reached the maximum for her unemployment checks.

"My mom's house isn't extravagant, but it's her home, Her health is failing. She has diabetes and her legs are giving out on her," Tracy's sister Asia says.

"She has a son that can do and she's done everything that she could possibly could [sic] for her family."

According to ABC News, Morgan, 43, was firing back Wednesday night.

"I am saddened that these untrue stories about me have people questioning my commitment to my family," he said in a statement to ABCNews.com. "For reasons that are between us, I have not seen my mother in 11 years and outside of a random call here and there have had little to no contact with my sister."

"We all have personal family issues that we have to deal with in life, but I choose to deal with mine in private and not through the media," the statement concluded.

Tracy was in the news recently because of his own health scare.

He collapsed at the Sundance Film Festival.

The 43-year-old actor was rushed to the Park City Medical Center in Park City, Utah after he passed out following an awards ceremony last week.

Ron Nyswaner - the co-director of Tracy's new movie 'Predisposed - blamed a combination of altitude sickness and complications with the actor's diabetes for the collapse.

He explained: "[It was] altitude sickness combined with his diabetes. And he hadn't eaten. He hadn't had enough water".

It had been reported that the recovering alcoholic seemed out of control at dinner, where he is said to have been shouting and falling over but a spokeswoman for the hospital said no drugs or alcohol were found in his system.

Isn't this the overpaid actor who said he would murder his son if he were homosexual, demeaned Sarah Palin as a sexual object on national TV, and is an Obama supporter?

I respect his decision. It’s his own, and he shouldn’t be bullied into it. Mom’s are overrated in general. Certainly, the family court system is biased toward them. We are all accountable on an individual basis. Morgan’s reasons are his own.

I don’t know the guy,but he sure sounds like a POS to me.

Perhaps I am wrong the Mother may be a lot like Obama’s mother and run out on the kid to pursue her studies about Indo-nesians.

-—I don’t know the guy,but he sure sounds like a POS to me.-—

That was my initial reaction until I remembered a co-worker who told me how his mother had abused him.

If this case is similar, I could at least understand his actions.

I agree with you. We don't know what his home situation was like and just because he makes more money doesn't mean he should be paying anyone else's bills.

As far as his own health issues, I have read that someone having a diabetic issue can appear to be drunk.

He’s waiting to see if Obama is re-elected so the taxpayer can pay the bill.

It’s Tracy Morgan’s money, he can do as he wishes. For the short term, it’s still a nominally free country. I don’t know the situation between Mr. Morgan and his family, so I’ll leave it at that.

As for the writer of this tripe:

” ... plus her utilities are also getting ready to be turned off ... “

Really? The utilities servicing this woman’s home, prepare themselves in some way for a discontinuation of service? Perhaps if the writer’s first language was English, rather than Ebonics, this kind of writing wouldn’t be published, (I know it’s the internet).

It’s a shame what passes for a writer these days.

If I had $18M I would help my mother/father if they needed it...There are however plenty of close relatives, that I wouldn’t give a penny to, even to have a life-saving operation ...even if I had billions in the bank...of course that would lead to a big fight with my wife who has a bigger heart than I.

Yes, diabetics CAN appear drunk. My father’s sugar dropped once at a restaurant and he was stumbling and slurring his words, looking ready to pass out. The waitress almost called the police and I told her they were taking too long with his food! After giving him some sweet tea (which he couldn’t even hold, I had to hold it) he came out of it and the waitress brought the manager over and comped our meal.

Bull. When people don't take care of their extended family, the rest of the taxpayers end up picking up the tab.

I’m agree with you. This is his mother, now matter how wretched a mother she is. My relationship with my mother was pretty destructive at times, so I can understand his desire to keep his distance. But still, he should be a better son than she was a mother. He should help her but keep her at arm’s length.

I hope he’s not from NJ because NJ has a law that children are responsible for their elderly parents, even if a parent sexually assaults his child and goes to jail for it. I believe a number of states hav similar laws.

He should prob’ly help his mother even if he is PO’d at her but I agree, it is personal and he should handle it privately, not in the press.

It would seem his sister took this spat public, if so...she’s a turd. What is she doing to help mom? Or she she living there with mom—waiting for her brother to ‘fix it’?

Some families are the pits, makes me think about that movie- Million Dollar Baby.

Agreed - I knew a few people I would love to help but some I wouldn't spit on if they were on fire.

I realize some here might initially think Tracy Morgan is being a jerk for not helping his own Mother, but isn't that the same thinking that liberals have about the rich being responsible for paying for the "have nots"?

If Tracy voted for Obama he must believe in the redistribution of wealth. Funny how they want other to do it but not themselves.
