THREE CHEERS FOR ROMNEYCARE!
www.anncoulter.com ^ | 2/2/2012 | Ann Coulter

If only the Democrats had decided to socialize the food industry or housing, Romneycare would probably still be viewed as a massive triumph for conservative free-market principles -- as it was at the time.

It's not as if we had a beautifully functioning free market in health care until Gov. Mitt Romney came along and wrecked it by requiring that Massachusetts residents purchase their own health insurance. In 2007, when Romneycare became law, the federal government alone was already picking up the tab for 45.4 percent of all health care expenditures in the country.

Until Obamacare, mandatory private health insurance was considered the free-market alternative to the Democrats' piecemeal socialization of the entire medical industry.....

According to the Sean Hannity Show, she told Romney he owes her.

On FoxNews today she said that if Romney wins "I'd better have his ear." I guess being in the IN crowd is all that matters. Ann Coulter is a shrill self-centered, unappealing woman. In the same interview she referred to soccer Moms in a very insulting fashion. Insulting people does not make them want to be on your side. She has been more of a hindrance than a help to the conservative movement.

“I have not heard any solution from anybody about people who show up at the emergency room without health insurance.”

Do you mean you've never heard of billing and credit arrangements? Is there some new-found inalienable right that grants certain people the right to the goods and services of others for free? If so, why stop at just health-care.
I'm tired of paying car insurance, utilities, mortgage payments and for groceries. Why aren't you cheap bastards trying to figure out a solution for that?

I ask this question because I do not Know. Does Romneycare have a government option? That to me is the crux of the matter. If the Mass. individual mandate is only for private insurance with no govt option for everybody to eventually be dumped into, then Romneycare is different than Obamacare. The govt option is the vehicle to destroy private insurance that leads to a single payer system. If there is no government insurance, than an individual mandate does deal with the deadbeats in the emergency room. The important issue of the government option has never been fleshed out at all in any discussions I have seen on the subject.

A governor can’t repeal or expand the federal tax break given to companies that pay their employees’ health insurance premiums — a tax break denied the self-employed and self-insured.

A governor can’t order the IRS to start recognizing tax deductions for individual health savings accounts.

A governor can’t repeal the 1946 federal law essentially requiring hospitals to provide free medical services to all comers, thus dumping a free-rider problem on the states.

The answer, Ann, is NOT to finish undressing and lube yourself up for the rape.

Somehow other states..even leftist hellholes like Kalifornia managed to not pass anything remotely similar.

Blame democrats, indeed...

She has gone crazy, or worse yet, she duped us all along.

I turn the channel when I see her, will never by another book by here, and turn off the radio when I hear her voice.

Maybe she can guest host now on Current TV or MSNBC.

She has used the conservatives for years. She was cashing in. She has lied to us. The real Ann has appeared. I will never vote for Romney.

AFAIK Romneycare has no government agency/department running health insurance. It is strictly private insurance required for all. For those who can not afford it (based on income) I believe the state of MA offers subsidies to purchase PRIVATE insurance. You should find more info at Wiki.

So many liberal tigers have shown us their stripes. I will never forgive Ann and the other radial lying liberals. Ann only plays a conservative for money... I knew that when I learned that she only sleeps with progressives.

"I have not heard any solution from anybody about people who show up at the emergency room without health insurance. The cost of their treatment is picked up by those of us who carry health insurance."

Well here is an idea, let's not throw away liberty as a solution k? Here is how you do it: you raise taxes. A perfectly legitimate way to fund something. You don't force people into private contracts. Well, you don't unless you are a lover of tyranny.

True liberty is when you are not forced to support those who refuse to pay their own way even if they can afford it.

Why tax everyone because some are cheating?

So then stop requiring hospitals to accept people. There is nothing in the Constitution protecting that. True liberty is living with the choices you have made. You choose not to buy health insurance, and you get sick, you have to face the consequences. Creating a mandate just rips a piece of the Constitution off, and throws it away..

Easier said than done. If people are refused emergency care for lack of insurance, there will be a firestorm. It will never pass congress, I will bet any amount of money you want. We do not let people die from hunger or lack of emergency hospital care in United States.

Naw, the better option is to let people who can afford health insurance be required to help push the cart instead of riding in it free of charge. My state requires us to buy Auto liability insurance for similar reasons.

You are correct, constitutionally no one is guaranteed health care. But we have to live in the real world of today.

You are missing the point, you don't throw away liberty because you write up some kind of law. Before hospitals were required to accept everyone, they went to charitable clinics and hospitals. You know what? Health care was much more affordable for everyone then. Still, the government can't just create a law that requires an unconstitutional act to make it work. If the laws that force hospitals to treat people is not working, then fix the law, don't throw out the Constitution.

They have a very CLEAR CONSTITUTIONAL remedy to fix the problem: raise taxes. They just don't want to be on record as saying they raised taxes. The mandate is NOT a tax; no more than a traffic ticket is a tax. The precedent they are setting is EXTREME.

It doesn't really matter though, the law is UNCONSTITUTIONAL so it will be thrown out if the justices are even halfway honest. If the current mandate is found otherwise, then there really is no limit to the governments power is there?

"Naw, the better option is to let people who can afford health insurance be required to help push the cart instead of riding in it free of charge. My state requires us to buy Auto liability insurance for similar reasons."

Apples and oranges.. You do not HAVE to buy auto liability insurance. IF you purchase a car and IF you decide to drive it on public highways, then you are required to have auto insurance. You are making a choice. The mandate says you are making the same choice just by breathing.

"You are correct, constitutionally no one is guaranteed health care. But we have to live in the real world of today."

Real world? The health care system is far from the real world.
