Feds blitz websites streaming live sports before Super Bowl

Days before the Super Bowl, federal authorities blitzed more than a dozen websites illegally streaming live sporting events.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other agencies announced Thursday that they had seized 16 websites and brought criminal charges against a Michigan man who operated nine of them.

Yonjo Quiroa, 28, of Comstock Park, Mich., was arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal copyright infringement. Authorities said he operated websites that streamed pirated telecasts of live sports, including some pay-per-view events. Those included games from the NFL, NBA and NHL as well as World Wrestling Entertainment. Quiroa received $13,000 in profit from the illegal sites, authorities said.

"This enforcement action ... sends a strong message to website operators who mistakenly believe it's worth the risk to take copyrighted programming and portray it as their own,'' ICE Director John Morton said in a statement.

Why ICE? Don’t they have their own jobs?

Isn’t it amazing what we can enforce, and what we can’t?

We can’t enforce laws like illegal streaming of sports.

We can’t enforce laws like illegal streaming of movies.

We can’t enforce laws that stop folks from pirating DVDs.

We can’t enforce laws that stop illegal provision and downloads of music.

We can’t enforce anti-car theft laws.

We can’t enforce anti-smoking laws.

We can’t enforce j-walking laws.

We can’t enforce seat-belt laws.

We can’t enforce anti-cell phone and texting laws.

We can’t enforce laws that stop illegals from living on U. S. soil.

We can’t even enforce laws that require our President provide documents to prove he is eligible to be President.

Seems to me we have plenty of ways to get folks to comply with our laws, when we really want to.

Our government, our courts, and our police have their heads firmly implanted when it comes to equal enforcement of our laws.

They only enforce what they want to. They only enforce what is politically correct, whether it threatens our nation and it’s citizens or not.

He’ll probably end up spending more time in prison over this than he would if he killed somebody. Big Media definitely gets it’s money’s worth out of the government - good luck trying to get anything close to this kind of action if a private citizen has $16,000 stolen.

I remembered today why I gave up on football.

I remember a guy on my team ran 80 yards for a touchdown. Flag on the field. Holding. Play called back. No touch down.

I snapped. This is the stupidest game ever invented. They could call holding on every play but somehow they always call on game changing plays.

Never watched a complete game since. Early 80’s. Don’t miss it a bit.

Carefull what you wish for. You probably break a dozen laws before lunch and don't even know it.
