Clueless Komen Foundation Runs Up Against the Sacrament of Liberalism

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The Susan G. Komen bunch, the Race for the Cure, whatever? They have caved big time to the feminazis at Planned Parenthood. It is stunning! Yesterday everybody was holding firm, and today Nancy Brinker who runs the Susan Komen group (I think it was her sister) made a big time cave. Biiiig time. Abortion is the sacrament to the religion of liberalism. Nobody is gonna mess with that money's flow. Nobody is gonna mess with that pile of money. Nobody's gonna mess with that at all.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to talk about this Susan G. Komen flap with Planned Parenthood. This is a teachable moment. It is an interesting illustration. I'm gonna get myself in trouble with people here, but what is new about that? Kathryn Jean Lopez of the National Review Online, she's the editor of their blog The Corner, has a post titled, "From Pink Ribbon to White Flag -- The only thing that seems clear is that Komen is desperately trying to make the campaign to kill Komen to stop..." Planned Parenthood wants the Susan G. Komen people -- which is charity to wipe out breast cancer, raise money for breast cancer -- gone. And, by the way, nobody's talking about the relationship to breast cancer of abortion.

It's been medically documented. There is a relationship between abortion and breast cancer, and notice how nobody wants to talk about that. I don't even know if that's part of Komen's decision-making, the original decision making to defund Planned Parenthood or to stop donating Planned Parenthood. At any rate, the Planned Parenthood feminazis heard about this, and they went ballistic and they went nuclear because nobody -- particularly a female-oriented charity like Komen -- is gonna stop or interrupt the money flow to the pro-abortion mill industry. There's too much money being made with all these abortions taking place, and nobody's gonna get in the way and interrupt that.

So they went nuclear on 'em, and what Planned Parenthood was attempting to do was take Komen out. They were gonna kill it. So the people at Susan G. Komen said: We don't want to be killed here (by the venom that has been aimed at them from Planned Parenthood). But here's the truth, and Kathryn G. Lopez points this out: "Komen, of course, has never said this week: We will never do business with Planned Parenthood again (as [many people] would love them to do, but I was and am under no delusions). And in this statement [from Nancy Brinker who runs Susan G. Komen] they appear to be somewhat consistent there ... maybe: They have tightened funding guidelines and this Planned Parenthood did not look eligible, but that does not mean PP necessarily will not get grants in the future.

"As Ezra Klein," the wunderkind blogger at the Washington Post, "puts it: 'So they are, perhaps, backing down [meaning Komen]. Or perhaps not.'" But here's the thing: The people that run the Susan G. Komen Foundation "had no idea what they were in for, clearly." That is obvious. They had no idea. Here they are, a breast cancer foundation doing the Lord's work, raising money for research into breast cancer. They look at Planned Parenthood. They're tightening their guidelines on funding, and Planned Parenthood didn't look eligible, according to their own guidelines, so they pulled back. And all hell broke loose! Why? Because they don't understand liberals.

Now, Nancy Brinker -- you may have heard her name. Nancy Brinker is a Republican. Nancy Brinker was an ambassador during the Bush 43 administration. She was, I think, the protocol secretary for the last two years of Bush 43. Meaning, "What's the protocol when you have a state dinner, here? What's the protocol when Kim Jong-il comes?" She was the director of protocol. This group is made up of a lot of people across the ideological spectrum but they're not conservatives. They are establishment RINO Republican types. They were clueless! They had no idea what they were in for doing this. They had no ideological understanding or awareness of who and what Planned Parenthood is. I just find that fascinating! In this day and age.

I know this is gonna be reported as I'm ripping Nancy Brinker and Komen, and I'm not. I'm just making an observation. I'm stunned. I'm stunned, is all, that this kind of realization was needed; that they wouldn't know what they were in for by telling Planned Parenthood, "You know what? You may not fit our funding guidelines. We're gonna pull back and assess this." And a bunch of libs, who only know how to get money by siphoning it from other people, see a significant portion of their financial flow interrupted, and say, "Okay, time to take out that bunch." So hopefully it was a learning experience out there.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: You know, that's right, that's absolutely right: Obama honored Nancy Brinker in August of 2009 with a Presidential Medal of Freedom. That is the highest civilian honor that can be given. Nancy Brinker, who runs the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Obama awarded her the Medal of Freedom. Now today she's a Nazi! Now she's a Nazi, according to the people at Planned Parenthood. Now, the Komen people only stopped funding Planned Parenthood because they're under investigation. It's in their guidelines that they don't contribute to organizations that are under investigation. They didn't say they were pulling out as a matter of principle. They didn't say they're pulling out because they don't agree with abortion, 'cause I frankly don't think it's a problem with 'em. This is strictly they've got guidelines: We're not gonna donate to groups that are under investigation. So then Planned Parenthood puts Komen in the crosshairs and out to kill them, and the people at Komen's heads are spinning, not having the slightest clue -- which simply amazes me. But it's quite instructive, is it not?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Austin, Texas, and great to have you. Welcome. This is Diane.

CALLER: Thank you for taking my call. I really appreciate it.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: Listen, I'm a three-year breast cancer survivor. I work. I've got four kids. I have a small business at a breast cancer space, so I follow all this very closely. So when the Komen announcement came out on Wednesday that they were gonna not fund Planned Parenthood because they were under investigation, I knew there was gonna be just a huge backlash. I'm on Twitter and I'm on Facebook, so I was heavily following it, and I just think it's ironic that some of the greatest outrage is from the people that are, I call them the Komen haters, and I'll probably get in trouble for saying that, but they've been very critical of Komen over the last several years anyway due to their fundraising and the money and the commercial things they do. And they're the ones that have been putting the most pressure I think on Komen the last couple days. So I'm really surprised that Komen would be surprised, given they've had all this, they call it pink lash, the last couple years against what they've been doing, their organization.

RUSH: Yeah. They're shocked. I mean they really could not believe the Planned Parenthood babes were out to wipe 'em out.

CALLER: Well, I understand --

RUSH: And I don't know how in the world they couldn't figure out that that was going to happen. The Planned Parenthood babes figure that another female charity, that they're sisters in arms or whatever. So this was a double --

CALLER: I agree.

RUSH: -- sellout, it was the sisters selling out the sisters, and they thought it was an ideological sellout.

CALLER: Or maybe, if I were a suspicious person, which I may be, this has been a great fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. Maybe Komen got together with Planned Parenthood and said, "Okay, well, we have to do this because we've got a lot of people that don't want to support Komen --

RUSH: Look, what she's saying is there was a conspiracy out there and that the Komen people got hold of the Planned Parenthood people, and said, "Here, we're gonna sell you out, and that's gonna cause so much outrage that the pro-abortion people of this country are gonna flood Planned Parenthood with money to make up for what will not be coming in from Komen." The only problem, the published guidelines from Komen clearly say they will no longer fund organizations that are under investigation. Planned Parenthood is under investigation. According to guidelines, the bylaws, the Constitution of Komen, they had to pull their money. They never said they were gonna permanently pull out. They just said they couldn't do it at this time. But regardless, Planned Parenthood did get a lot of donations after this happened. And Komen did, too. I mean Komen got all kinds.

In fact, I will wager you this. I will wager you that some of the Komen people were shocked that they got big donations coming in when they announced they were pulling out of Planned Parenthood. You know who was giving Komen money at that point. The dreaded, embarrassing hayseed profilers. That's not my view, as you know. This is the sophisticated American view, the pro-life community. And so I'm sure the Komen people are sitting there, "Whoa, what's going on here?" 'Cause I don't think they had -- it's just a wild guess, but it looks like it -- I don't think they had the slightest ideological understanding of what they're dealing with in Planned Parenthood.

The Komen group is not a bunch of dumb people. Folks, that's the Republican establishment in large part there. (interruption) Isn't whose daughter? Is who Ma Richards' daughter? I don't know who's running Planned Parenthood. Is it Ma Richards' daughter? I didn't know Ma Richards had any kids. Okay, so Ma Richards' daughter is running Planned Parenthood, which, if you're wondering who's investigating them, Congress is. Congress is investigating Planned Parenthood. Now, Susan Komen is the sister of Nancy Brinker. She died of breast cancer at age 36. Nancy Brinker is a breast cancer survivor. She's 65, former ambassador to Hungary. She was the chief of protocol for Bush. She and her deceased husband were huge donors to W., huge donors, major donors and fundraisers. She goes back to Neiman Marcus. She met her husband at Neiman Marcus. It's Republican establishment there at the top. I don't think they had a clue. Planned Parenthood just didn't get mad. Planned Parenthood tried to wipe this bunch out.

The PP baby killers won a big one this time. A huge victory for the baby-killing, commie lib “progressives”!

I don't think Nancy Brinker understood just how many liberals she had working for her. When many in your own organization don't support you, it doesn't matter how right you are (and she was very right), you have a huge mess on your hands. I can't believe how out of touch she was.

Why is one “charity” giving to another “charity?” If the Komen Foundation has so much money that they are giving it away, rather than spending it to “find a cure”, then maybe my hard earned money should be donated elsewhere...

I think many people will find other avenues for donations to breast cancer research. Koman has now pissed off both sides. I had heard that donations had been up for Komen after their decision to not pay tribute to PP.

Now People will say Komen? Aren’t they the abortion people?

This is all a giant set up imo. The left wants brinker out and let her do her thing so they could sit back, eat their popcorn and wait for the fallout.

Here’s my prediction:
1. Brinker will resign or stepdown within the month.
2. New president will be a fulltime abortion rights womyn.
3. Komen will be a front for funnelling money to womyn’s health and rights orgs and abndon its focus on just breast cancer.

UN... F$!@ING... BELIEVABLE. I cannot fathom how any organization could do this. I used to participate in the Komen For the Cure walks, but never again.

What it really comes down to is the ability of Congress to make their own investigations toothless, as long as enough corruptocrats don’t have a problem with multiple taped instances of Planned Parenthood violating the law by not reporting statutory rape, assisting pimps of teenages sex slaves to avoid the law, etc.

Congressional investigations are a joke, and it seems like that’s going to be the ultimate lesson from Fast & Furious as well. It’s all a charade - bread and circuses to keep most of us dummies out here thinking that we’ve got somebody actually representing us and the rule of law.

We don’t. And until we realize that and decide we’re mad as heck and not gonna take it any more, we never will.

That’s what this is really about. That investigation of Planned Parenthood will never be allowed to have any real consequences for PP. It’s the elite establishment making sure we know the real game here and don’t get any high-falutin’ ideas about justice actually being, ya know, REAL.

Who ever Komen’s PR person should be fired immediately. I bet there were a lot of Komen supporters who didn’t know they sent money to PP. PP says their services are wide-ranging related to women’s health when in reality it is a single service only shop. The majority of Komen’s donations go toward administration and marketing; IMO not really a charitable organization whose donations go directly to the people/research they say it’s for.

I wouldn’t give a cent to either one.

When you give your money to someone for say cancer research and it ends up going to Planned Parenthood I’d say you have been swindled.

One charity fronting for another is more common than you’d expect. It pays to do homework before writing a check.

The only silver lining to this is... many people did not know that Komen used to give money to Planned Parenthood. Now with all the publicity, everyone knows.

the elephant in the living room hypocrisy here is that a group which is supposed to be involved in a cure for breast cancer, gives $ for a process that causes breast cancer to increase off the charts.....abortions for women who have never before had a full term pregnancy.

Hold on a minute there, Mrs. Brinker. You had it right the first time. If a charity doesn't live up to its mission and violates its own bylaws, it puts its tax-exemption at risk. Its mission and bylaws, which are approved as "for the public good" by the IRS, are its contract with the taxpayers that they are doing what they say they are with donated, tax-deducted money.

Mrs. Brinker's public statements indicate that they are aware of a violation of their bylaws. If they continue to do so, they can be subject to all kinds of legal trouble, including criminal charges, depending on what's really going on. Some of it would be subject to who is running the IRS and DOJ (Nazis, at the moment), but not all.

I will never donate to Komen again. How do they know that the funds they provide are not going to pay for the murder of another unborn child? I can find another charity to send my funds too.

It is a sad day when a charity is forced to provide funding to an organization which is at its core “evil.”

Correct. The surprise here is not that they do reversed their decision, but that they came out and admitted it in the first place.

Listen to this podcast from Jim Vicevich [libertarian/conservative radio talk show host on WTIC radio, Hartford, CT]..he interviewed a executive director from Susan Komen/Hartford/executive director this morning. It’s a riot. Stupid Komen rep had to back down when he pressed her on the fact that it money can’t be tracked for mammos that Komen gives Planned Parenthood [PP] to pay for women’s mammograms. through Planned Parenthood.

What is so Orwellian about this is that the Komen Foundation claims its objective is to save women’s lives.......yet half of the abortions Komen has financed via Planned Parenthood end with death of a woman.

Because of Komen’s involvement with PP, I even boycott purchasing products that contribute $$ to Komen.

From now on, I think I’ll contact the companies I boycott, with a cc to Komen.

Anybody want to join me? Just look for that pink ribbon on the products, which can be anything from food to hair dryers.

“Why is one “charity” giving to another “charity?”

That is my criticism. It seems to be very much akin to money laundering.

I am glad that the incident occurred. I have always refused to give to the pink Nazis. When I responded with, “no, they give to Planned Parenthood.” people would look at me like I was an idiot. Now Komen’s charity to PP is out in the open.
