Campaign finance documents show that Massachusetts Republican Sen. Scott Brown's re-election campaign has paid his daughter Ayla Brown $9,500 for performing at three campaign events. The three paid events, listed as payments to Ambient Entertainment LLC, go back to December 2010 and include a pair of Christmas parties. Ayla Brown is a former "American Idol" contestant whose band has performed at several events with her father, going back to his first 2010 U.S. Senate campaign to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy.

I heard her sing here on FR on a video.
She is a no talent. She does not sing on key.
... unless you are Hillary Clinton. In that case, you can have a Hollywood producer spend $2 million plus on a massive, star-studded Hollywood fundraiser for your Senate campaign, and only report a small fraction of the expense.
We need a phrase similar to Damning with faint praise but opposite meaning. When an obvious slime attempt is so inconsequential that you are left wondering, Is that all the dirt they have on this guy? He must be pretty clean. the attempt at sliming is a FAIL.
Praising with faint damnation?
Praising with faint Damnation doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but I can’t find anything better. I want to start using this the next time the Media starts their microslimes. I am thinking of things like: Quayle spelling ‘potatoe’, Sarah Palin is wearing nice clothes, Newt bought some jewelery (OMG!). Feel free to add to the list.
As a musician, I can tell you that $9,500 isn’t much for three gigs.
The pay doesn’t cover just the lead singer. It covers band members’ pay; sound system setup and sound engineer; possible rentals of the sound system, lights and drums; gas to get everybody in the same place at the same time; and at least some sandwiches or snacks after the job’s over.
Especially at Northeast prices, it doesn’t take long to eat up $3,000 a job.
This is getting real old. Call “da roolz” Byzantine and even a temptation to unethical behavior, but dey are da roolz. Even if you can’t stand Brown for a second, all appears to be in order here.
Anybody who can follow the tune of the old "To Anacreon In Heaven" (now known as "The Star Spangled Banner") is no slouch.
I do understand your thinking but pray we can make it thru by the Grace of God.
How ‘bout:
If that’s all they got, they must ain’t got nuthin’!
That is about enforcement not the law. A major reasoin why there is a TEA Party is because the working folks are sick of the laws broken by the powerful in the name of “good government.”
fyi from the Wash Post
“The campaign paid $67,000 to Gingrich Productions, led by his wife, Callista Gingrich, for web hosting and e-mail hosting. The Gingrich campaign paid the candidate $47,000 for a political donor list, and $206,000 in reimbursement for assorted travel and food expenses that Gingrich covered for himself and his staff. “
I know. I was one. ;>(
If she sang for free he’d have to list it as an In Kind Contribution over the legal limit of $500.
