Unreal: Seattle Libraries Approve Hardcore Porn-Watching in Front of Children
The Gateway Pundit ^ | February 3, 2012 | Jim Hoft

Seattle libraries will not allow patrons to eat or sleep or go barefoot. But they can watch all the hardcore porn they want in front of children. Seattle PI reported:

The Seattle Public Library has a long list of rules of things you can’t do in the library, to ensure “comfort and safety” of staff and patrons. You can’t eat, sleep, look like you’re sleeping, be barefoot, be too stinky or talk too loudly.

But you can watch graphic porn on a public computer in front of kids. Despite repeated complaints from female patrons about men watching porn in full view of their children, the library has held fast to its policy of unfettered online access for grown-ups.

The reason: It’s not in the business of censorship.

The latest dust-up comes after a mother with her two kids saw a man watching “hard-core porn” at the Lake City library and complained. When the librarian refused to ask the man move to a less visible screen, Julie Howe wrote the library, the media and lawyers and got on KUOW.

“It was very shocking,” said Howe, whose 10-year-old girl had seen the man’s screen and cried that night. But, she acknowledged, “it’s not an easy one to solve.”

Other libraries also allow porn

The library’s position was mirrored elsewhere. The King County Library System has a similar policy, of filtering kids’ access on computers, while allowing adults to roam freely. The American Library Association endorses the same stance.

“Sometimes, in a library, you’re going to see information that’s going to make you uncomfortable,” Barbara Jones, director of the association’s intellectual freedom office, said on KUOW Wednesday.

Sickening. Public libraries are for research and education.

Porn and other questionable material is for private residences only. It’s so simple, yet obviously way to complicated for our corrupt local governments.

This has been going on in the King County Library system as well. As long they have a privacy screen, the libraries take a “its none of our business” approach.

This is just so insane! :-(

Some of the porn on the internet is pure filth, far beyond what most normal folk can even imagine. Even to describe some of it in words is sickening.

If I had glimpsed something like the worst of it when I was a kid I would have been in shock.... I was a kid in the 60’s...my goodness how normal and safe the 60’s were compared to now.

“...censorship” my eye. That’s a lie from the pit of hell. Pornography is the exploitation of humans for the sake of sexual gratification. It’s abhorrent and corrosive to any society.

The Seattle library staff, as well as those like it, are porn peddlers. Plain and simple.

Parents, if you are truly concerned about your child’s psychological, physical, and spiritual well being, either move out of WA, or find an alternative to the public library. You can never erase the images your children see while those perverts are viewing porn.

This Just In: “Pornography is the exploitation of humans for the sake of sexual gratification. It’s abhorrent and corrosive to any society.”

Agreed. In a free society, I understand people should have a lot of liberty (not unlimited) to do what they want with their bodies. However, communities should also have the right to regulate public behavior. Back when I was young, the nation believed in community standards. The left believes virtually everything needs regulated, even light bulbs, but porn? Have at it...in public...in front of children.

What one does in private is one thing. What one does in public is something completely different, and the standards of public behavior should (must) be higher in a normal, civil society. An adult male who would view porn in front of children is one sick, selfish puppy who deserves public scorn if not jail.

prolefeed? I think I understand your point.

Yeah. Give the proles sex and games so they don’t realize they are slaves.

Have them go to the County Board or the City Council. The library rules ultimately can be dictated by the electeds. The librarians are employees who must implement policy.

All King’s County Freepers should do the following, since the library is on record, saying it’s not in the business censorship..... Log time on their computers, load up this article, and print out $2 worth of copies. Then, yellow highlight the key points, especially and names of officials, and tape the article in areas for all to see. Get the word out that adult men are allowed to import whatever filth into a public library through county govt owned computer servers. Rinse. Repeat.

From what I’ve observed, the American library association pushes libraries to defend and promote pornography and homosexuality, but censor and demonize those who think otherwise. The ALA itself is silent when it comes to defending conservative opinions. They pretend they are defenders of freedom of speech issue, but they’re not. They are always demonizing the political right and stifling their voices.

Unreal? Seattle?
No.. That place is as foul a toilet as San Fransicko.

Anyway, who ever goes to a stinking library anymore besides pedophiles and perverts?

There is way to sabotage those library computers without revealing the ID of who did it. Most porn websites have viruses. If you click on the right one, it can completely shut down the computer and cause it to crash even if they have a good virus protection program. Nothing but a blue screen which will cost the library much time and money to fix. After this happens to enough computers on a regular basis, the dorks who allow porn will be forced to block porn sites.

Would be even better if the screen automatically displayed a picture of Jesus watching you when a porn site was accessed.

I wonder if videos of bloody abortions are allowed. It would be great for a group of college prolifers to go to the library and quietly conduct that experiment.

I bet censorship would ensue.
