The Kentucky State Police are investigating a shooting incident that left a man dead at a residence near Green River Lake Saturday night. According to a press release from KSP Post 15 in Columbia, the post was contacted around 9 p.m. Saturday night by Adair County 911 Dispatch requesting assistance with the shooting death of 42-year-old Edward Stickel. The incident took place at the residence of 60-year-old Ralph Mercer at 160 Poplar Court, which is located off Corbin’s Bend Road near Green River Lake. According to the release, Stickel was at the Mercer residence discussing the purchase of a firearm that resulted in a disagreement. Stickel allegedly pointed a gun at Mercer who then fired one round from a gun in his possession, striking Stickel in the chest. Mercer then called 911 to report the incident. Stickel was pronounced dead at the scene. Charges have not been filed at this time pending the completion of the investigation and a grand jury hearing. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Sunday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville. The case is being investigated by KSP Det. Russell Decker.

I hope the old guy has at least one witness...

If not, doubt will exist about this being a a good/bad shoot.

Either way, look for this to be used to push a ban on Face-to-face purchases. One more straw on the camels back.

Well, since there are no witnesses to incriminate him, there will need to be a body of evidence to do that.

I wouldn’t worry about that yet. I think more people are killed test driving new cars.

Since when has either of those slowed down an overly zealous anti-gun prosecutor or legislator?

Oh, they could certainly try, but out here they’d simply be voted out of office if they tried.

And they know it. ;-)

You need to know your constituency.
