British Singer M.I.A. Flips Bird During Super Bowl Halftime Show

The NFL and a major television network are apologizing for another Super Bowl halftime show.

There was no wardrobe malfunction, nothing like that glimpse of Janet Jackson's nipple eight years ago that caused an uproar and a government scrutiny. Instead, it was an extended middle finger from British singer M.I.A. during Sunday night's performance of Madonna's new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin.'"

In front of some 110 million viewers on NBC and uncounted others online, she flipped the bird and appeared to sing, "I don't give a (expletive)" at one point, though it was hard to hear her clearly.

Anybody doesn’t believe these loser-burgers don’t do this stuff intentionally needs to buy my bridge I got to sell....cheap.

Bridge just been renovated.

Soon it’ll be like the commercials, we’ll all be voting and guessing who’s going to be obscene during the half time show.

If they get away with it....shame on us.

Yup. They agree to behave beforehand, but once the cameras are going they pull crap like this. And they have nothing to fear from doing it. Probably been already paid before the show even starts. What’s the NFL gonna do,,,lock them up? They know they can get away with it.

I’ve read that most Super Bowl half time acts perform for free. Just for the exposure to the huge TV audience. Those of us who never heard of MIA know who she is now.

This makes 4 or 5 times I have seen thios or another story like it posted this morning.

I am sure other boards are filled with it too.

She was seeking publicity and she got it.

The solution to this is simple. Just write a clause into their contract that if any performer does an obscene gesture, uses profanity, etc.. that they will owe the NFL some huge amount of money (say $20 million).

They do this stuff, because they think the publicity is worth it financially. Make it not worth it financially, and they’ll stop doing it.

The first time I saw Madonna’s new video I was unsettled by the sight of 2 black rappers dressed in cheerleader outfits, blonde wigs, and literally cheering MADONNA! throughout the song.
There is an inexplicable scene where a limo pulls up by Madonna as she walks on the sidewalk and unseen villians attempt a drive-by shooting. Also, inexplicably, football players hurl themselves in front of the bullets.

So.....Madonna wears a Cleopatra crown and arrives via being pulled along by slaves.
The rappers -for some reason - agreed to sing this moronic tribute to Madonna’s ego.

Usually I do not sympathize with those who are vulgar.

This time I might cut MIA a little slack.

It could not have been a pleasant experience.

Absolutely, Brookhaven and I am very surprised one of the brilliant (/sarcasm) lawyers for the networks has not demanded some sort of clause to this effect.

In fact, outside of a Standard Fine, I would include a clause which would include any fine the network might suffer because of inappropriate behavior. Something like 10X the actual fine.

Until these overpaid, over hyped, questionable talented individuals are forced to start reaping the repercussions of their anti-social behavior nothing else will stop them. Hit them in the only place it will hurt, their bank account. They certainly do not care about a bad image in fact they seem to wear a bad image as a badge of honor.

The half time show was over done and over long. I watched about five minutes and then did the necessaries such as warm up pizza and hit the rest room. I’d rather watch some more Super Bowl commercials as these try to be cute & funny, neither of which apply to the half time shows lately.

Mia is my horse. She sometimes poops at inopportune moments, but she is a sweetheart who has never given anyone 'the hoof' - although I suspect she has thought it at times.

My oldest daughter riding Mia:

This M.I.A. in the news has been Missing in My Mind as well - never heard of her. Of course, I stopped watching football when the Colts left Baltimore...

On the other hand you have to applaud her HONESTY!

She expressed exactly how she, Madonna and a majority of those involved with pop culture actually feel about the Super Bowl audience, America and the vast majority of decent Americans.
Once again NBC and the NFL do there Claude Rains imitation -shocked, shocked that such a thing could happen.
If you were to interview her (or probably search the internet for past interviews) You would find she is full of vulgarity, hatred, and is a totally despicable person on all levels.

Surprising that extending the middle finger for 1/2 second is offensive, but having a crew of scantily clad females lying on their backs wriggling is OK.

We aren’t surprised. However, we used our remote to shut down our TV until the second half began. Of course there was going to be something filthy about the show. Don’t know how anyone could NOT have expected it.

Why not bring back some of the old fashioned acts to perform during Super Bowl halftime? Clean, decent acts with people in beautiful clothing, clean mouths, and true talent.

I wouldn’t go see that older woman who performed at the Super Bowl yesterday if it was free and front row seats. Those arms... yipes....

That would explain her P.O.'d attitude.

She's so ugly, when she was born the doctor took one look and slapped her parents.

When her parents took her to the zoo the ticket taker said "Thanks for bringing it back."

Oh! Who cares? I watched and enjoyed the spectacle and didn’t even see it. I wonder how many did. I like the idea of hitting their contract for big bucks, but it’s hardly shocking to see anyone flip the bird. I don’t like it, but I’m also not shocked. It’s what we’ve come to expect from the mostly talentless herd referred to as ‘celebrities’ these days.
