KEY SARKOZY ALLY: 'For Us, All Civilisations Are Not Of Equal Value'

Adam Taylor
Febuary 6, 2012

Claude Gueant, the French interior minister and a key Sarkozy ally, has caused controversy after telling students "all civilisations are not of equal value".

The speech was made on Saturday, and a copy of the comments were obtained by AFP. Amongst the comments made by Gueant, who is in charge of France's immigration policies, included:

"Contrary to what the left's relativist ideology says, for us all civilisations are not of equal value."

"Those which defend humanity seem to us to be more advanced than those that do not."

"Those which defend liberty, equality and fraternity, seem to us superior to those which accept tyranny, the subservience of women, social and ethnic hatred."

Al Jazeera reports that Gueant has refused to apologize, but the comments lead on a number of French papers' front pages this morning.

Could this be another sign that the UMP party is scared of Marine Le Pen's National Front gaining voters on the right in this year's upcoming election?

Le Pen's Daughter Could Beat Sarkozy

"REUTERS - Marine Le Pen, the leader of France's far-right National Front party, would beat President Nicolas Sarkozy in the first round of a presidential election next year, an opinion poll showed on Saturday."

I’m really rather glad someone in Europe had the balls to say this. The only remaining question is, will he be hauled before an EU court in Brussels for hate speech?

Of course he would get in trouble for stating an obvious truth.

I’ll go a step further: Some “civilizations” are not civilized.

The whole mid east.... as I mentioned to someone promoting the greatness of Saudi Arabia.... they never invented anything of did anything of value. Only received American dollars for oil. Their first car? A gift from one of the Oil companies in 1956. Other than that they would still be riding camels, horses and donkeys.

Its easy to buy things with oil money, right down to nuclear weapons.
Where is the civilization in that?

From Holland. The text reads something like: "Freedom or Islam. You decide."

“Some “civilizations” are not civilized.”

And when they threaten those that are, need to be destroyed.

A guilty conscience needs no accuser. Al Jazeera chimes in and confirms the obvious. They know what they are. Right in there with the "abortion rights" crowd screaming about Komen pulling funding for "Planned Parenthood". The money donated to Komen was supposed to fund breast cancer prevention and treatment. It is real obvious that the money passed to Planned Parenthood was going for abortions and the abortionists screamed long and loud when the revenue was threatened.

The truth: he has it.

I'm really sick of the French-bashing that's fashionable among the ignorant on this forum.

Find me an American government official willing to state the obvious so clearly.

“I’m really sick of the French-bashing that’s fashionable among the ignorant on this forum. “

There are some great people in France today. And of course they were great friends during our Revolution.
