Democrats’ chances of retaking the House improve
Washington Post ^ | February 6, 2012 | Aaron Blake

Democrats have been saying for a long time that the House could be in play in 2012, and now some Republicans are starting to join them.

“For Democrats to take 25 seats, they will need a wave,” former congressman Tom Davis wrote in an op-ed in The Hill recently. “Continued polarization and obstruction could create such a wave.”

Former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele agreed that keeping the majority isn’t a done deal: “It could be very, very hard.”

And last week, a member of the conservative Wall Street Journal editorial board opined that the GOP majority could be in jeopardy if Republicans don’t make it a priority.

It is a matter of PR and we have none. I remember seeing Nasty Nan on TV at least twice a week going after Pres. Bush tooth an nail and defining what they stood for. I bet that 75% of the voters have no idea who the Speaker of the House is now, he and others are MIA. To sell a product you have to get out and sell it and the Republicans aren’t selling anything. Do they even show up for work?

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.” ― Alexis de Tocqueville

I didn’t say it was a “do nothing” house. I said obama will RUN against a “do nothing” house.

I sometimes wonder, who hates the Tea Party folks more, the Dems or Repubs?

That's easy. Just compare the campaign Romney ran against Ted Kennedy in 1994 with the campaign he is running against Santorum and Gingrich now.

The GOPe hates conservatives and will fight tooth and nail to defeat them. It is quite happy with Dems in power and will go along to get along and take their turn at power when given up.

Regards,

TS

We must never allow the rats to take the House back and we can not forget that it is important that we not only take the senate back, but get it back with the super majority

People overreacting to a ComPost process article, a D-list reporter working this up on a Sunday. It's a ****ing joke. One glance at the betting exchanges -- the odds are 3-1 against losing the House...that's not even a horse race...

“Big stinky bull feathers! If the democrats retake the House and maintain the Senate it will be conservative voters’ fault for not going to the polls. Your idiotic blind hatred of Boehner is telling, dweeb. Your tantrum type will sit at home rather than vote if you don’t have a perfect ticket. THAT’S what looses, loser.”

Wow! I could not agree with you more. I also could not have expressed my feelings anywhere near as well as you did. Lazy Republicans and Conservatives, get off your cans and VOTE.

It is not too much of a stretch to see that WaPo is now conducting “push-journalism”

Heck, they've been doing that since 1969, when Nixon took the oath of office. The minute the rubble of LBJ was pushed out of the field of view, they started in with it.

The obstruction is coming from the democrat-controlled Senate, not the House.

Boehner, however, is weak and needs to be replaced with someone who has the fire in the belly.

Only way that the House goes to the Dems is if they buy it at auction after the foreclosure.

If the democrats retake the House and maintain the Senate it will be conservative voters’ fault for not going to the polls.

They did it in 2006 and 2008 when just as much, if not more, was at stake.

Why should this year be any different?

Of course, they will have their principles, show the RINO Republicans the door, and after four more years of Obama..."true" conservatives will be in the drivers seat.

That strategy has worked fabulously so far....

“Of course, they will have their principles, show the RINO Republicans the door, and after four more years of Obama...”true” conservatives will be in the drivers seat.”

/s lololol

When trying to teach a “lesson” especially to persons as “smart” /s as politicians it is important to keep in mind the objective.

Staying home and not voting, thereby allowing the Democrat to win, only reinforces the idea that Republicans need to be more like Democrats to win......(they don’t get that Republicans need to be Big C “Conservative” to win)

This stradegy only encourages/produces more RINOs.

For some reason, the Republicans have trouble explaining that as well as you do. It’s really quite simple. They are obstructing a far left, radical, anti-American agenda. Why they can’t point this out is beyond me.
