Report: Israel will ask to station IAF jets in Cyprus
Israeli officials tell Xinua news agency possibility of offshore airbase will be raised during Netanyahu's upcoming visit to neighboring island

Israeli and Cypriot officials are planning to discuss allowing the Israeli Air Force to station jets in the neighboring island, Chinese news agency Xinua reported Tuesday.
The issue will be raised during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's scheduled visit to Cyprus later this month, Xinua quoted Israeli officials as saying.
According to the report, an Israeli embassy official told the Cyprus Mail in January that Netanyahu "will come to Cyprus to emphasize the good relations between the two countries and to strengthen the bilateral relations, which are already good."
Xinua said the Cypriot OnlyCy.com website reported that in September 2011 Israel asked Cyprus to permit stationing its aircraft at the Andreas Papandreou airbase in Paphos.
However, an Israeli official told the Chinese news agency this week that the prospect of stationing planes in Cyprus "is at the exploratory stage - it's not clear if it will or won't happen."
The official was quoted as saying that a potential offshore airbase "is an existing option, and we're investigating the possibility," but cautioned that such an agreement "isn't totally sewn up."

You are of course correct on that. The Turks are gonna absolutely freak. Perhaps Israel is thinking of offering in exchange a bailout to the Greeks instead.
I can see the Israelis establishing a air/naval base in Cyprus, in exchange for the Greek Cypriots getting Israeli backing in any future conflict with the Turks. The Turks would freak, yes.
I was talking about what would put the Turks into a mad frenzy, not seriously suggesting that there be reparations to the families of those who’ve been dead for nearly 100 years.
Heck, the Turk bastards won’t even admit that a genocide took place, and they go berzerk whenever so free nation’s legislature tries to pass a condemnation of them for not admitting it and apologizing for it. I guess that the Turks just think that they have the right to murder whoever they want, even most of an entire people, without anyone else even calling them on it. Scumbags!
If the Turks were made to pay for what their great, great grandfathers made their great grandfathers do I should be expecting a check from Charlemagne’s decedents because they Christianized my Viking ancestors and put many to the blade who would not give up their Norse gods. On the other hand don’t tell any Irish, English and pretty much anyone who lived on a coast line within a 1000 miles of Norway I have Viking ancestors.

Regarding some kind of time limit for reparations, I’d agree. I would venture to say that literally ever human being alive today (which is to say, all humans now and forever into the future) are descended from slaves, since slavery was practiced everywhere in the world at some point. Since it is literally impossible to figure out who owes whom what amount of compensation, to say nothing of the morality of making children pay for their parents’ crimes, such simply cannot be done. Maybe a good cut-off is when the last survivor of whatever event being discussed passes away.

And to the movie “Kingdom of Heaven” that took one of the best stories of the Middle Ages and made a total mess of it - I say BLAH!!!!!!!

This is a direct result of Germany’s defense industry making demands on Merkel and German central bankers to enforce the arms purchase agreement before Greece received any further financial aid.
To pay the Germans for the defense contracts for German equipment the Greeks can not afford to maintain, let alone field, the Greek Air Force has had to basically shut down for the last year, and at least going forward until 2016 or later.
In the meantime Cyprus loses the air support of it’s motherland and is left vulnerable.
