Exclusive: Occupy DC Plans Mayhem for Major Conservative Conference ("Physical assault" planned)
Heritage ^ | February 7, 2012 | Lachlan Markay

Posted on 02/07/2012 9:16:58 AM PST by Qbert

The “Occupy DC” protest group is planning to disrupt the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference using a range of potentially illegal tactics that could even include violence against participants, Scribe has learned.

The planned disruptions at CPAC come only days after U.S. Park Police raided Occupiers’ tent cities at McPherson Square and Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., confiscating a number of tents, and prohibiting Occupiers from camping out there any longer. During a Thursday meeting at McPherson Square, until Saturday the epicenter of the protests, Occupiers brainstormed tactics for shutting down or disrupting the conference, according to a source who was present at the meeting.

The protesters suggested pulling fire alarms in the hotel where the conference will take place, screaming “fire” during conference activities, “glitter-bombing” participants, cutting electrical power, and barricading entrances to the hotel, according to the source, who requested anonymity.

“Speakers will be physically assaulted, not just verbally confronted,” the source told Scribe in an email. Two Occupiers, who the source also identified as members of the New Black Panther Party, “said they would be disappointed if they didn’t get arrested and planned to ‘make it count.’”

The source quoted another protester as saying, “Mitt [Romney] has Secret Service now, but [Newt] Gingrich and [Andrew] Breitbart don’t,” seemingly suggesting that the latter two would not be as heavily guarded.

Protesters planned to conduct most of these activities on Saturday, the last day of the conference, so as not to overlap with the recently announced protests by labor groups on Thursday and Friday.

CPAC is the largest annual gathering of conservatives. Guests this year will include three of the four Republican candidates for president, members of Congress, governors, and a host of the country’s most prominent conservative activists and commentators. The Heritage Foundation is a CPAC sponsor.

Occupy DC’s initial follow-up planning session for CPAC fell off the radar after the tent city at McPherson was dismantled on Saturday, but the group agreed on Monday to move ahead with its CPAC “action plan.”

Protesters had been living in McPherson Square and Freedom Plaza since October, in violation of federal statutes prohibiting camping on federal land. The National Park Service agreed to enforce the law after congressional investigators began looking into the matter.

Both the American Conservative Union, which hosts the annual conference, and the Marriott Wardman Park hotel, where it takes place, said they had increased their security measures and were confident that any threat from protesters would be adequately addressed.

But concerns remain. Occupiers reportedly discussed a number of tactics for getting protesters into the conference, where they would be able to do more damage than a street protest could muster.

An attendee of the Thursday meeting, who claimed to handle relations with labor organizations, said the AFL-CIO had booked rooms for Occupiers at the Marriott hotel, with the intention of allowing them to bypass security measures at the door. Contacted by Scribe, an AFL-CIO spokesman insisted the Occupiers’ claims were untrue. The AFL-CIO has aided Occupy DC before, most recently in storing Occupiers’ belongings at its headquarters in advance of the National Park Service’s enforcement actions.

But Occupiers are apparently planning other means of infiltration. Representatives from the American University and George Washington University “Occupy” groups said they intended to actually register their members for CPAC. Student passes are heavily discounted, and allow full access to the conference.

They also said they would produce counterfeit credentials and hand them out to non-students who still wished to enter the protest. “In order to avoid having to shower and dress in business attire to blend in,” Scribe’s source said, “they plan to wear Ron Paul 2012 gear because they believe Paul supporters ‘generally look like hippies.’”

Buncha chest thumping nonsense.

As soon as the "occupiers" realize that they'll need to get up before 4:30pm, that'll end the protest.

If CPAC has invited Mitt Romney to speak then I suspect its leadership is not really all that conservative...

Just the same, I hope attendees arrive prepared to defend themselves, because the DC Police are unlikely, in my opinion, to interfere with the “Occupiers”.

CPAC should be held across the river in Virginia, not DC. Better yet, in Texas.

I know that this will be like talking to water but, what do these people hope to gain from this? Like everything else these morons have done, confrontations with those attending CPAC are as pointless as spitting in a water fountain; what's the point?

IMO, they continue to make it clear that they are an "activist" wing being organized and run by BHO. They are clueless and they only protest entities that could be construed as "big business" or "conservative interests" in keeping with their claim of "representing" the "99%".

From what I have seen and heard of these idiots, everything they are "protesting" are the result of BHO and/or big government policies of the Dems. That's why it smacks of BHO's "community organizer" handiwork. I also think that the OWS morons are part of his plan to divide America further and create civil unrest to the extent that he "feels obligated" to declare marshal law and suspend all gatherings INCLUDING voting in the upcoming primaries and general election. He KNOWS he is going to lose in November and this is his way of preventing that from spoiling his taxpayer funded vacation plans.

We may get lefties who do not care about being videoed, who do not care about being arrested, who do not care about whether they live through what they attempt.

He spoke at the one in 2008,the only CPAC that I attended, as did McCain.

When McCain entered the hotel in 2008, his supporters were out shouting, "John McCain!" and "Mack is back!" Although by that time, he had virtually won the nomination, I was surprised that he had so many enthusiastic supporters among the CPAC crowd.

Incidentally, Ann Coulter drew the biggest crowd at that confab.

For example: I do not care if they get video-taped, I do not care if they get arested and I do not care if they live through what they attempt.

Or carry plastic children's squirt guns filled with essence of capsaicin, which can be found at some specialty food stores. The OWS troublemakers would then move on, commenting, "what an eye sore!"

Interesting.

If it was held in Virginia, the attendees would be able to legally possess the necessary means to effectively defend themselves against murderous mobs.

This makes me further question exactly how conservative the CPAC really is.

"I know that this will be like talking to water but, what do these people hope to gain from this? Like everything else these morons have done, confrontations with those attending CPAC are as pointless as spitting in a water fountain; what's the point?"

But that's assuming rational-minded people here- I don't know if that's really the case. Most sane people generally think things through before they act and try not to do outrageous (or criminal), things- and if they do, then they apologize, or show shame, afterwards.

We react with horror when we see some of the unconscionable things that have gone on at #OWS events (putting babies on train tracks, child molestation, etc.)- they simply don't. A lot of them I believe have severe mental disorders, and that's why they're attracted to that kind of stuff. Truth to be told, they probably don't even comprehend why we are so outraged by those things...

The AFL-CIO is calling for its members to join Occupy CPAC. (Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With workshops like “Return of Big Labor: What Can We Learn from Wisconsin & Ohio,” and “Taking back Wall Street: The Tea Party vs. Occupy Wall Street,” the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) descends on the nation’s capital February 9-11 and local labor activists are planning a DC lesson to ensure that the voice of the 99% are heard at this elite conservative gathering. Actions are currently being planned for noontime and after work on Friday, February 10. Featured speakers at CPAC include Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, and presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum.

Was thinking the same thing...

When they (Occu-poopers and NBP) broadcast their intent to commit crimes like this, the local law enforcement should be prepared, along with the DA to counter this by protecting those peacefully assembling to conduct lawful business...

And if they fail to do so, is that not enough to call for going to this event armed and safe, but dangerous to those wanting to commit crimes against us???

I know police are not charged to protect, as decided by the SCOTUS in years past, so why can we the people go prepared ourselves to fend off and stop a premeditated crime against us??? Seems reasonable...

And if the dunderheads at CPAC cannot figure this little tidbit out, then why attend??? Who’s stupid idea was it to do this in a district that does not recognize an unalienable and moral right to keep and bear arms...

Screw D.C. and their sensibilities...They can rot off the face of the earth as far as I am concerned...That’s their bed and they can lay in it...

CPAC needs to have their heads examined...

Have the events down in SC or MS, , etc .

Also will the DOJ be looking at these threats and admitting this is terrorism because it is ,
.
They are looking at terrorizing a group of people based on their own views

from the article:

“The source quoted another protester as saying, “Mitt [Romney] has Secret Service now, but [Newt] Gingrich and [Andrew] Breitbart don’t,” seemingly suggesting that the latter two would not be as heavily guarded.”

If Mitt had any class, he’d invite Newt and Andrew Brietbart to accompany him when he heads over to the building where the conference is being held.

And of course he’d want to inform his Secret Service detail that they might want to add some reinforcements.

It would be amusing watching Obama, Pelosi and their ilk trying to spin an Occupy dust-up with the Secret Service.
