Sea ice loss said driving European chill

LONDON -- Meteorologists say ice-free seas in the arctic caused by global warming could explain a chill wind covering much of Europe that has killed more than 300 people.

Experts said they believe complex wind patterns are being affected as melting arctic sea ice has exposes huge areas of normally frozen ocean to the atmosphere above, bringing bitterly cold weather to Britain and the rest of Europe.

The loss of arctic sea ice could be influencing high-pressure weather systems over northern Russia that bring very cold winds from the arctic and Siberia to Western Europe and the British Isles, scientists said.

"The current weather pattern fits earlier predictions of computer models for how the atmosphere responds to the loss of sea ice due to global warming," Professor Stefan Rahmstorf of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany said.

Ok. Let me get this straight. If we assume that ice melts at 32F, how does this translate into temperatures across Europe down to -20F?

We in NH thank you, Artic Sea Ice, for keeping my heating bill less than $5000. Normally I would have four feet of Global Warming in my yard with temps in the lower teens, but thanks to the Messiah and Al Gore I only have 8”and twenty degree weather. /s

If it’s too hot - its Global Warming

If its too cold - its Global Warming

You see?

(Actually, yes- a lot of us DO see..)
You can stop reading any story that contains the words “... caused by global warming”.

A warmer than normal winter in North America, and a colder than normal winter in Europe. Both the result of global warming according to these lunatics.

Nice try, science whores! You’re pathetically wrong and grasping at straws to prop up a failing hoax.

The current weather pattern fits earlier predictions of computer models for how the atmosphere responds to the loss of sea ice due to global warming,...

they finally covered all the bases. it was not too long ago we were told NOT to look at weather patterns....when those patterns didn't match the models.

"See, it’s like this. It’s getting colder because of global warming, which is melting the North Pole."

In the middle of one mo-hozay of a bitter cold winter up this way. Guess those guys didn't hear about the tanker and the icebreaker...

Oh, the mystery of the wind ~ one answer is that when air climbs above 5 miles it gets dryer, colder and denser, and therefore heavier, and then drops to the ground. We don't immediately notice that because it gets bent into a N/S/E/W direction by the ground. It can't blow through the surface.

Due to a variety of factors cold, dry air blows in several distinct latitudinally organized bands. Those areas are usually arid or desert like.

What that means in this case (Europe getting colder) is that the cold dry winds that would normally drop out of Arctic skies and freeze the ocean are instead moving about 1,000 miles Souf' and freezing Europe.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with sea ice! The wind really doesn't care if the Arctic Ocean basin is frozen over or open water.

The article is nuts.

What is happening is the windmills in Europe are creating resistance which is changing the wind patterns in the Winter and killing innocent socialists.

Stop Big Windmill!

“Experts said they believe complex wind patterns..”
The operative word here is ‘complex.’ In this case ‘complex’ means, “We are lying but we don't want to defend our bull shiite so we are saying it is complex and you wouldn't understand it - but trust us becuase we know better than you do.”

Perhaps the sea ice went south for the winter.

To Venice, Italy.

Venice's canals are frozen.
