When gay couples first sought the right to legally wed in California, they argued that they were entitled to all of the benefits of marital bliss.
It was only a matter of time before that benefit extended to the right to split up.
Even as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals found California's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional Tuesday, one of the state's first gay couples to tie the knot was calling it quits.
Robin Tyler filed for divorce from Diane Olson on Jan. 25. The pair were among 14 same-sex couples who originally challenged the ban in 2008.

well....I won’t hold this against them.
Part of the problem with this whole mess is that straights screwed up the institution of marriage first.
Once that happened the gays started their mantra...”marriage is sacred? really? so what’s with the divorce rate?”
And then it was downhill from there...
You posted, in part: You hate to get personal, but, why is it that so many lesbians go out of their way to have a mannish appearance?
***
That facet (among others) of homosexuality has always confused me. I am male and I can halfway understand women wanting to be with women. They are the more attractive sex— all the great artists agree. But lesbians do seem to appear more masculine (if the stereotype and headline photos are to be believed). It would seem that if you want someone masculine, men are the way to go, and they have the parts that have to be purchased when women do the job...
On the other side, male homosexuals say they desire men, but the men so often seem to act effeminate. It’s none of my business of course, but it just doesn’t seem logical.
I recall there were protests in liberal places such as Berkeley about the military having recruiting offices in their communities. They didn’t want the military recruiters because of don’t ask/don’t tell.
So now that DADT is gone, can the military open a recruiting office in The Castro? Will that be a busy office if they did so?
Interesting parallel about marriage and DADT. We are not seeing a flood of openly homosexual recruits into the military. They fought for that right to serve, then decide they don’t want to serve anyway. Go figure.
interesting post. Of course, as I watch my daughters age group begin their progression through their 20’s, are they getting married?
No. Some are. Most have begun the heartbreaking cycle of moving in, procreating, breaking up....repeat.
“Overall, in recent years, only about 4% of marriages in Massachusetts have been same-sex couples. Most of the same-sex couples have been woman/woman.”
One thing I wonder about is basic masculinity/femininity regardless of your “sexuality”
In other words...women are, by nature, drawn toward commitment and nesting. So it makes sense that lesbians would be more favorably disposed towards marriage than gay men.
When I observe gay couples of both sexes the pattern usually is....feminine/masculine.
Even as they reject natural sexuality, there appears to be an attempt to recreate that basic male/female dimension.
So who pays alimony to whom?

You hate to get personal, but, why is it that so many lesbians go out of their way to have a mannish appearance?
___
1) Rejection by politicized lesbians of “social construct” femininity - i.e. make-up, leg-shaving, pretty clothing, enhancing lingerie.
2) Masculinzing hormonal imbalances - i.e. polycystic ovarian syndrome.
3) Virulent, cruel, loathing rejection by men of women with a mannish appearance - i.e. thick waist, broad face, big chin. It’s common on FR. If most men seem hateful and chances of a relationship with a man are low, a woman might turn to another woman who has been through the same.
And then, synergy. Peer pressure.
“..I’d need to look hard,...”
!!Double Entendre?!!
Hard to tell which one was the man.
MEN don’t do gay only freaks do.
>”Let me be Frank”<
Let me get the Frankfurter. (fixed it)
You were Frank last week!

Phew...for a minute there I thought I was reading a post from Mr. Spock! News flash, when emotions are involved, logic flies out the window. A wise man knows this and always has the last words when arguing with a woman, "yes dear...".

Everyone knows that legalized gay marriage is just a cash grab for attorneys. You could practically HEAR the champagne corks pop from attorneys offices far and wide across this once great state of NY.
FINE! Let them have all the benefits I say--divorce, custody fights, child support hearings, spousal support.
Proves that they don’t really want equal rights,
they just want to upset the apple cart and take away something that someone else has. (10th commandment)
Reminds me of the joke about the genie and the Arab.
The Arab complained to the genie that his cousin Abdul had a beatiful flock of goats and he himself had none.
The genie said “do you want me to give you twice as large a flock of goats?”
The Arab said “No, you idiot! I want you to kill all of Abdul’s goats.”
You’ll fry your brain trying to figure it out.
Let me guess: they were loud and obnoxious, right? (And not just because it was a bar)?
A blonde-haired John Goodman?
It’s because “marriage” to homosexual activists is merely a political statement, not what most normal people think of as marriage - the intended lifelong bond which produces a family. They do this to flaunt their power, without any intent at monogamy, and then try to “divorce” in states that don’t recognize their “marriage” in order to sow political confusion and imposition. It’s happened at least twice here in Texas, and once in Oklahoma.
Even Rosie O’Donnell said as much. It’s purely a political statement; the most disparaging thing you can say about marriage.
