Day after losses, Romney says he's better tea party candidate than GOP rivals

ATLANTA - Mitt Romney says he's a better tea party candidate than his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination.
The former Massachusetts governor lashed out at Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum on Wednesday, the day after losing contests in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado.
Romney says his opponents are members of a Republican Party that had lost its way. He says spending on lawmakers' pet projects doubled under Gingrich, a former House speaker. He says Santorum, a former senator, was a major proponent of that type of spending.
Romney says the tea party movement was created to fight Washington insiders who spend too much and that Santorum and Gingrich "are the very Republicans who acted like Democrats."

I doubt Romney even understands what is the basis of the Tea party movement.
Most of the Elite Republicans certainly don’t. McCain didn’t in 2008. McConnell doesn’t. Boehner doesn’t.

Hey Dio, Romney actually used the term “Pet Projects”
Maybe there should be a “Hot dog” alert every time he mentions ‘pets’
Do you have a ping list for it yet?

Why would any of the Tea Party have a problem with Romney? After all, he does like drink tea...
In reality, both the GOP (almost all) and Romney have been trying to distance themselves from the Tea Party from day one. After all, how can they benefit from being in control of a party that does not expand government, expand spending, and expand benefits!
Yes, the GOP is not unlike the Democrats - just matters who controls the purse strings!

I wonder if he said it with the same conviction he says he’s pro-life? When he says he’s pro-life he looks like he’s saying a foreign word or phrase, and he has to literally spit out the words.

The sheer audacity of this man to use the Tea Party in such a way to attack rivals beggars believe.
It shows just how far the American media has fallen that he would feel comfortable and confident enough to wrap himself up in the Tea Party flag.
What a shambles.........he must be defeated.

Right. Who has the Bishop Willard Romney clown face image?
Please report. The bishop has given up character assassination for stand up comedy.

The video says it all. Just what I thought, Santorum and Romney are double teaming Newt.
By splitting the anti-Romney vote they are making it impossible for conservatives to get the percentages needed to look good on the charts.
The thing that shocked the GOP-e is that Santorum out-shined the target yesterday. Doesn't bode well for the Romulan.

I know Mormons aren't supposed to ingest anything that the church deems as harmful to the body, such as coffee. They are also held to account by the church in the way they live. If Romney actually believes his own words re the best TEA party candidate he's either on something that causes delusions or he's a liar. In either case, he fails the expected standard of the Mormon religion. I am not passing judgement on the man but obviously he puts politics above his faith.
To: biggredd1

It's really revealing and shocking when you see a conservative Republican support a moderate Republican (Romney) who happens to be running against a liberal (McLame) Republican. Shocking I say!
Wait a minute. Didn't pretty much all conservatives support the more conservative of the two? Well, I guess it's not so shocking or revealing after all!

There’s more than a slight difference when you spend money that you have the budget for (Newt in 1990s) vs. when you spend money that you have to borrow from China (Rick in 2000s).

I heard clips of this on a couple of radio shows this morning. I could be wrong, but I don’t believe Mittens actually used the words “Tea Party”. He may have used the word “conservatives”, but not “Tea Party”. Mittens has gone so far out of his way to avoid even acknowledging the existance of something called the “Tea Party”, that I imagine if he even uttered the words he’d vanish in a cloud of sulphurous-smelling oily black smoke. Hmmm...maybe we could trick him into doing that somehow.
